Book Review: Leaving No Stone Unturned

“To leave no stone unturned” is an idiom that means to do everything possible to find something or to solve a problem.

The Author: This book is write by Dorit Rishoni-Mandil, artist and author. She lives in Israel with her two sons and her partner. website: www.heal4cancer.com

At age 43,in 2007, Dorit was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. The doctor assured her that the cancer was likely to be suppressed after surgery, radiotherapy (28 sessions) and six months of chemotherapy. It was not to be. Less than two years after the medical treatments the cancer recurred in her backbone. Dorit underwent surgery and radiotherapy again. And again the cancer came back after three years. She was again treated with radiation. A year later, the cancer recurred for the fourth time — it is now defined as Stage 4. She suffered severe abdominal pain, nausea and severe weight loss.

Perhaps enough is enough? Remember what Albert Einstein said?

Dorit decided to investigate non-conventional ways of dealing with the disease. She said, I find it hard to understand why people turn to alternative medicine so late. If it’s a result of ignorance, then I will now contribute my share to the mass of knowledge. Perhaps it is due to a prejudice that only doctors and drugs can resolve health problems.

Why Did She Write this Book? I wrote this book because I wanted to propagate the fact that it’s possible to live with cancer in full health. January 15, 2017

Dorit decided to know more about alternative treatments for cancer. For three months, day and night, I sat at the computer and read stories of American survivors. I crossed-referenced my information and searched for articles that confirm the effectiveness of the substance they take.

In her face book she posted a notice asking cancer survivors in Israel to share their experiences. She said, In doing so, you will encourage others … In other words, you can help save the lives of cancer victims — perhaps a new one every day! Thus I began my search …. it was not an easy task.

To start with, here are some inspiring words that inspired Dorit.

  • Recovery depends on many factors, including mental factors and the type and severity of the cancer ~
  • You deserve to be healthy. You are blessed beyond your wildest dreams ~ Luoise Hay.
  • We take 100 percent responsibility over our lives, acquiring the power to release and fix things that are stuck in our lives ~ Ho’oponopopo method of healing.
  • Cancer starts from the soul, and that the combination of mental healing and proper nutrition is critical ~
  • Severe emotional events could remove an organ from the right frequency, hindering its optimal functioning. That’s when a disease appears ~ Hamer, New Medicine.
  • If you get cancer, know that you can live with it in harmony for years. Living with cancer in perfect health ~ Gershom Zajicek.

Dorit sought and went on to meet many cancer survivors in Israel. She learned and noted down the methods they used to “win” over cancer. Knowing or reading is of no value if you don’t practise what you know! Dorit practised and tested on herself what she learned from these cancer survivors.  As a result of her strong commitment  Dorit healed herself. She survived beyond her prognosis

In this book, Dorit shared the experiences of her cancer journey. In addition, she documented the healing stories of 28 other people who survived their cancers. They are “heroes” and they are unique in their own ways solving their life’s challenges BUT they showed some basic similarities.

  1. Taking responsibility of your own health. If you don’t help yourself no one can help you. You reap the consequences of your decisions and actions.
  2. Change of diet is essential to your healing. Eating only natural, unprocessed foods and removing sugar from the menu.
  3. Using herbs and dietary supplements – plants have tremendous healing power.
  4. Following your intuition. Use your heart not your head to be constantly attentive to what’s right for me and makes me feel good.
  5. Letting go of repressed emotionseven if it seems everything is fine now, there are some things from my past that I should process, deconstruct, and let go.
  6. Living a full life with cancer. Elevating positive emotions on a daily basis – constantly searching for what I already have, what’s good, what pleases me, and what I’m thankful for. Always acknowledging what’s good in my life.
  7. Getting help – I have learned and still learn every day how important it is to ask people for help and to tell those dearest to me about the path that I chose, in regards to physical aspects and when making decisions about various treatments.

    Comments

I am glad that Dorit had found the path to her healing. She tried medical treatments thrice — surgery, chemo and radiation. Thrice she failed.

She decided to look at the “other side” (the so call unproven, unscientific, quackery) and Dorit found healing and survived to write this book.

Her path to healing is not easy. She put in her heart and soul to make her well and she was well rewarded. Success does not come to patients who are only interested in easy “handouts” by just sitting under a coconut tree hoping for some magic potions to fall from the sky. Dorit worked hard, day and night with full commitment to find her healing. And she found it. I salute her. I recommend that you read her book. You can get it from amazon.com.

I admired her desire to share what she learned with others. How many of us want to “waste” time doing that? I once told a cancer patient, By sharing and helping others you also cure yourself. From my own experience, by talking with patients and writing their stories, I too benefit and learn to heal my life. It is more blessed to give than to receive!

We started CA Care in 1995 — more than two decades ago. At that time I knew nothing about cancer. I did not even know the difference between radiotherapy and chemotherapy! I started with a blank slate. I read and read. I talked to cancer patients who are really my teachers. With time, I learned a lot and later could write more than a dozen books on the subject. There over 600 articles in our website and almost 900 videos in YouTube. And I have not stopped learning. I am still reading and writing.

The CA Care Therapy which we advocated some twenty-years plus ago benefited many patients.

The core of CA Care Therapy

The journey we went through was very much like Dorit’s journey in Israel.  The language of healing is universally the same, no matter where you are on this planet.

If you are sincere and honest in wanting a find a solution to cancer, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist. You don’t have to go to a medical school. Just read and use your commonsense and you can come up with a near correct answer.

Dorit is a artist. When she had cancer she went through surgery, chemo and radiation which did not cure her. In short, she learned life’s lesson the hard way. After a few months of intense reading, talking and researching she found something to save and prolong her life. And yet for many, they are we still saying that medical treatment is the only answer to cancer! Wake up, please.

Brain Tumour & Diabetes: 2. Declined Surgery, took herbs — HAPPY!

Amar (not real name) is a 49-year-old Indonesian. He has a 4.26 x 5.16 x 2.2 cm lesion in his brain. This was diagnosed as meningioma. He came to Penang in early February 2017 and was scheduled for surgery. The night before the scheduled operation, Amar and his wife prayed for God’s guidance.

The next day Amar and his wife came to CA Care, instead of landing himself on an operation table. Read Part 1 of this story. Amar was prescribed herbs. One month later, Amar and his wife came back to see us again.

Listen to his story!

Gist of our conversation that morning.

  1. Healing Crisis

Chris: After taking the herbs for one or two weeks — did you face any problems?

A: During the first week, I felt a bit dizzy like something was in my head after I took the herbs. My legs felt uncomfortable — like numb.

C; After one week (on the herbs) what happened?

A: I felt good!

C: Okay, let me ask you this — after taking the herbs for a month, what is your condition now compared to a month ago when you were not on the herbs?

A: I am very much better now (showing two-thumbs up!).

C: I am happy to hear that. Thank God for this blessing. Okay, you said you were better off — how many times better off than before? Two or three times better?

A: Five to six times! Before I took the herbs, I felt pulling sensation in my head. After a week on the herbs the sensation was still there and now NO more — gone.

C: Wah, that’s fantastic.

A: After I drank the tea, I felt a certain sensation going through my head (can’t describe). It lasted for about two minutes. Then this was all gone.

  1. Hand Trembling Gone

A: Before the herbs, my hands trembled. Now it’s all gone.

C: Great, God helped you!

  1. Severe Diabetes Gone!

C: You said you were on insulin injection for your diabetes before taking the herbs. How long have you been on this?

A: Since December 2016 (when I was diagnosed with brain tumour). My blood sugar level was 600 plus.

C: You went to the doctor (in Jakarta) and he gave you medication?

Wife: Yes, Nocid, Eclid, Glucophage and Novorapid (injection).

C: Wah, four medication for your diabetes? So many?

A: Insulin injection, three times a day. Each time 10 units.

C: After the injection and the medicine, your diabetes got better?

A: The sugar level went down.

  1. Pain in Kidney and Liver

C: When you were on the medications, how was your health? Any side effects?

A: I had kidney pain. Then my liver also became painful.

C: Liver pain — how was it like? Pulling pain? Sharp pain? Dull pain?

A: Ya, dull pain. These pains started after I took the medications.

C: Okay, then you started taking the herbs — what happened then?

A: I got better. Before I needed 10 units of insulin, times days a day. Then with the herbs, I reduced it to 4 units thrice a day. A few days ago, I was off the insulin totally. No more insulin injection!

C: What about the oral medications?

A: No more oral medications as well.

C: So your diabetes was gone?

A: I am normal.

  1. Hair Appeared on Bald Patch

A: Hairs started to grow from the bald patch of my head!

Wife: Before that the patch at the back of his head was totally bald! (Note where the wife was pointing at). Look at this area. Before the herbs it was totally clean.

C: Har? Ha, ha. Yes, I know that after taking the herbs, white hairs can turn black or gray. I have seen that happen many times. But for your bald head to grow new hairs — this is a new story!

  1. Liver function enzyme: GGT from 198 reduced to 117

C: Very interesting. Your liver function enzyme, GGT dropped from 198 (on 5 February 2017) to 117 (on 13 March 2017). Very good. We should try to half it. At 117 it is still too high.

  1. Blessed for Not Undergoing the Surgery

A: I was ready to go for the operation. The doctor wanted to remove the mass in my brain. It was big, 4.26 x 5.16 x 2.2 cm.

C: You had seizure because of that?

A: Yes, I had seizure, twice. That was why I was hospitalised in December 2016.

C: After you took the herbs, do you still have seizure?

A: No.

C: Thank God for this!

  1. Herbs: Awful Smell, Bitter Taste

C: The herbs — I know very well — are bitter. How do you cope with the taste?

A: After some time, it became good taste!

C: Ha, ha. The first time — was it difficult to drink?

A: I had to bite apple after I drank the tea!

C: Brain 1 and Brain 2 teas — which one is worse?

A: Both have equally bad taste. But later, I got used to them. Now, it is all good tasting!

  1. Stay on Course – Don’t Do What You Are Not Supposed To Do!

C: This is indeed an amazing healing story. I must admit I can’t explain why. But I do know that our brain teas are good for many patients. My advice now is stay on course. Don’t do what you are not supposed to do!

You need to take care of yourself carefully. Maintain that good health. Don’t do anything wrong!

Comments

We have posted many stories about brain cancer. It is up to you to learn from the experiences of these patients. But let me highlight three stories.

1. Brain Cancer: Operation, Radiation, Blind After Two Weeks: This  is a 32-year-old Indonesian male from Riau. Like Amar, he had a seizure. CT later showed a tumour in his brain. He was asked to immediately undergo a brain surgery. The doctor said that was the only option left. The risk of surgery would be: memory loss or total blindness. Yes, he became blind two weeks after radiotherapy post surgery.

Amar in this case, was also warned that surgery for his brain could result in a stroke or paralysis. Perhaps it was a blessing that Amar did not undergo that surgery.

2. Brain Tumour: No to Surgery: Also from Riau, Indonesia, this  35-year-old Indonesian lady has a tumour in her brain. Her family refused surgery and decided to take our herbs. She became well and could lead a normal life. Her husband wrote to say that she has since gone back to work.

3.  Living With Her Brain Tumour for Seventeen Years. This 51-year-old Indonesian lady was diagnosed with brain tumour after two seizures — just like Amar. She was 35 years old then. The doctor said the tumour was too big and it had to be removed bit by bit, meaning she has to undergo three operations to remove all the mass. The family refused the surgery. Up to this day, 17 years later, she is still doing fine — minus surgery.

Like Amar, her tumour is a meningioma.

Amar came to us with a mass in his brain — also a meningioma. He decided not to undergo surgery. That was his decision, perhaps guided by his God (also our God!).

We did not send Amar away. Generally if you have a tumour in your breast, colon, uterus, etc. we would send you to your surgeons first. Get it out before you follow our therapy.

But for the brain, pancreas, liver and lung we have seen enough disastrous results after surgery.

When Amar decided to take our herbs, we warned him that our herbs are not magic potions. And we are not god either. So don’t expect a cure — because we believe that no one on earth can cure any cancer.

Don’t expect the tumour to disappear either. Just learn to live with your cancer, that’s our approach.

In one of the stories above, someone went blind after his brain surgery. We are sure many died too — but the dead do not come to see us. So we don’t know about such cases.

When Amar came back again after a month, the first question we asked was: Are you getting better? If Amar did not get better or did not derive any benefit by taking our herbs, we would advise him to stop taking our herbs. Don’t waste your money and time. Go and find someone else for help.

Amar said he was far better after taking the herbs. He gave his reasons why he got better — that’s important to know why he said so. There is no reason to believe that he is making up his story!

I reminded Amar that it is a blessing indeed that he became well just after a month. But this “wellness” would not last if he does not stay on course! Do something wrong and he will be back in the pit again!

Many people don’t like to hear this — they think that I am blaming them!

Know that your health is your responsibility. To stay healthy and be alive is your choice. If you make a wrong move, you die. As simple as that.

From my years of experienice most patients will forget what we taught them after they get well.

Yes, they will curse Chris Teo because they cannot eat this or cannot eat that. One more sore thing, Chris Teo’s herbs are bitter and taste terrible. After a while these patients will “cheat” themselves — taking only one tea a day instead of 2 or 3 as prescribed. Or they take them once every 2 or 3 days. They cut corners left and right.

Well, it is your life. Do what suits you. We are not blaming you! And if you take the herbs and you don’t get better, don’t blame us either. For certain kaisu people, I just wonder why they ever come and seek our help and want to take my herbs in the first place!

As I am writing this passage, let me tell you this — I replied to many emails and said, Do not come and see me. I cannot cure your cancer! Still they insisted on coming! Why? Because medical treatments cannot cure them.

Over the years dealing with cancer patients, I come to understand one thing. Cancer is man-made. Go and see a mirror. Ask that person in the mirror, what has gone wrong? No, most of us don’t want or never want to admit our short comings. It is always someone else’s fault. Or if there is no ready scapegoat, they blame it on their luck, fate or karma. So be it. But, to me and you can disagree with me, cancer is about human being ….  it is about you!

After talking to Amar, I found him a positive patient.  This is a person who sees a glass of water half full, not half empty. He did find the herbs are bad tasting. He had to bite an apple to help him swallow that bitter stuff. But later he said the herbs are good tasting. It’s his attitude that changed, the herbs were the same!

How many are like Amar — very few, 30 percent at most. The remaining 70  percent of patients who come to see us never make it — to them the glass is always half empty. Why don’t they go find someone better?

There are many ways to deal with your cancer. One patient wrote to say that she had opted for targeted therapy and hyperthermia (very scientific, high sounding names, right?) after she gave up on our herbs. Others went on to try immunotherapy, cryo- or radio-frequently ablation. Yet other said music therapy, laughter therapy, bio- frequency, etc. are great. By all means, go ahead and find your own way! And after your survive long enough why don’t you share your success story! Teach and help others too!

I hope to write a review on Dorit Rishono-Mandil, the author of Leaving No Stone Unturned. She said, I believe that each patient must seek their own way, educate themselves on their options and choose therapists and therapies they feel comfortable with …. There isn’t one single path to recovery that’s better than the others.

P/S: If you have diabetes or are bald, please don’t write me for help after reading this story. I cannot help you. I only work with cancer patients.

Brain Tumour & Diabetes: 1. His prayer answered in an unexpected way!

In an earlier article, I wrote about one bad morning at CA Care —  sharing with you a disappointing story. But luckily, not all days are like that — although you need to know that only 30 percent of patients who come to see us benefit from our work. The remaining 70 percent don’t. They just cannot benefit because of all kinds of reasons or excuses that they have. But to be frank, I am well prepared for such disappointments because I know I cannot win all! And most important of all, I know I cannot change the attitudes of human beings!

Not all days are cloudy though. Let me share with you what a great and blessed morning is like. A morning like this is worth many times the bad mornings!

Amar (not real name) is a 49-year-old Indonesian. In early December 2016 he had two seizures. He was unable to talk and had to be hospitalised. His blood sugar was extremely high, more than 600 mg/dl. Amar was asked to take three medications — Nocid, Eclid and Glucophage. In addition he had to be given insulin injection, Novorapid,10 units three times per day.

A CT scan and MRI on 9 December 2016 showed a 4.26 x 5.16 x 2.2 cm lesion in his brain. This was diagnosed as vertex meningioma. The doctor in Jakarta asked Amar to undergo an operation but he refused.

In January 2017 Amar and his wife came to a private hospital in Penang. He was asked to continue taking his medication:

  1. Dilantin(phenytoin) — an anti-epileptic drug.
  2. Hepamax — for his liver.
  3. NovoRapid® — insulin injection.

A month later, February 2017, he came back to Penang again with the main purpose of undergoing  an operation. This surgery would cost him RM35,000.

Chris: Did you ask the doctor if the surgery would cure you?

Patient: The doctor said some parts of the lesion can be removed! Even that the most serious risk of such surgery is getting a stroke. In addition, my hands and legs may become weak.

The night before the scheduled operation, Amar and his wife prayed to God for guidance! If possible, he would not want to undergo the operation!

Listen to this video!

Who ask you to come to our centre?

Gist of our conversation

Amar: The night before my scheduled operation, my wife and I prayed telling God that if possible, I do not want to undergo this operation. But I knew in my heart that this was not possible! After our prayer, that same night, we were told to come and see Pak Teo first before undergoing any operation.

Chris: Who asked you to come and see us?

A: My wife’s friend in Jakarta.

C: (Asking the wife). Tell us what happened.

Wife: I phoned my best friend in Jakarta that night. I told her about my husband’s operation. Then she told me, Don’t do any operation yet. Go and see Pak Chris first. She gave me your address. The next morning, we came to see you. I showed your address to the Grab driver and he brought us here.

C: So, you did not do the operation?

A: No. I went to see the doctor in the hospital that morning and told him that I was not ready to undergo the operation. I need some time to sort things out.

C: The doctor was not angry that you decided to postpone the surgery?

A: No. So we came to see you after that.

C: When you came here, did you believe what we told you?

W: Yes, absolutely.

Comments

At CA Care we encourage patients to talk to their God — never mind who you believe in. Just pray to God to help you. We believe if you sincerely pray, God will answer your prayer! But remember, the answer you get may not be what you want!

Many patients told us many “amazing stories” how they came to know us. One lady once told me that she was very desperate and did not know what more to do for her sister who had been hospitalised for some two months already. So that night she prayed (she is not a Christian!) before she went to sleep (in the hospital taking care of her sister). The next morning, she switched on her lap-top. She could not remember what she did but there it was the CA Care website that popped out in front of her!

I once asked a lady who go home and pray to her God first before deciding to take our herbs. She replied, I have already done that. The Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) told me to come and see you!

In this case, you can hear for yourself how Amar and his wife came to know CA Care just the night before Amar was to undergo his brain operation! It is just like a fairy tale, but is that not a miracle? God works in mysterious ways, if only you sincerely ask Him for guidance and help.

But don’t misunderstand. Coming to CA Care is not the ultimate answer. We are not bomohs (sharmans) or magicians. The tumour will not go away. We cannot cure your cancer — get that straight and clear! Nevertheless many patients who came to seek our help benefited from our advice and what we do. Some live a normal life without the surgery!

In the next article, let us hear why Amar was  “fortunate” not to undergo his surgery yet!

Recurrence of breast cancer — ignorance, irresponsibility or ineffective therapy?

Kim (not real name) is a 52-year-old lady. Kim did an ultrasound of her breasts in March 2016. The results are as follows:

  1. Right breast: There was a large irregular mass measuring 4.94 x 1.18 x 2.78 cm. Few enlarged axillary lymphadenopathy seen, largest measuring 2.68 x 3.96 x 2.44 cm.
  2. Left breast: A well-defined lesion seen at 11 o’clock position measuring 9.1 x 5.3 x 9.7 mm. This is a fibroadenoma. There are two small benign cysts seen at 11-12 o’clock position.

She underwent a mastectomy in a private hospital. The surgery cost her RM 8,000.

Histopathology report of the tumour indicated the following:

  1. Right breast: Medullary carcinoma.
  2. Adjacent breast tissue: fibroadenosis.
  3. Right axillary lymph nodes: metastatic carcinoma, 8/8 nodes were infected.
  4. Tumour is ER negative, P.R. negative and e-cerb B2 positive.

Kim was referred to an oncologist who suggested that Kim undergo eight cycles of chemotherapy. Each cycle would cost about RM 1,000 to RM 2,000. The oncologist said chemotherapy would not guarantee her a cure. Kim refused chemo and came to seek our help in early April 2016.

We prescribed herbs and told her to take care of her diet.

I did not get to see Kim again until ten months later, in late February 2017. The pictures below illustrate what happened to her. The question that boggled the mind is, why did she allow such thing to happen?

The following is the gist of our conversation that morning.

Chris: Your cancer had recurred. There is no need to continue taking our herbs. I really can’t say why this happened. I only saw you once, ten months ago. Cannot be! The question is: did you really follow what I told you to do?

Did you take care of your diet or did you eat anything you like? Did you take the herbs properly, or you took the herbs one day and did not take the herbs the next day?

If you said you really followed our instructions properly and this is what you get, then I feel like giving up! It is better that I close CA Care — there is no need for us to be around anymore. We are doing more harm than good.

So I need to know from you — tell me the truth what you did. I am not going to be angry. Did you really follow our advice correctly and strictly?

Kim: Yes, I took care of my diet. I did not eat meat or sugar.

C: What about the herbs?

K: I took the herbs once every two days!

C: Why did you  take the herbs only once every two days?

K: Your wife told me to do so!

C: Cannot be! How could my wife ever give patients such instruction? You are supposed to take the herbs everyday (note: the instruction on the packet also tells you to do the same!)

I gave you four types of herbal teas — two are for the breast and another two for your lymph nodes. It means you need to take four teas every day. But you said you took the tea only once every two days. That is not right. What tea did you take?

K: I drank the tea and I felt nauseous. So I skipped and took the tea every other day only.

C: I gave you four types of tea, what tea did you drink?

K: I also took the powder in the capsules!

C: Even those in capsules, did you take them every day? (Note; these capsules are to be taken three times a day, every day).

K: No, I took the capsules once every other day — i.e. two days once. I also brew red dates and drunk that as tea.

C: Who ask you to take the red dates tea?

You came to see me in April 2016 and now it is February 2017, that’s ten months ago. If there was something “wrong” during this period, no one could help you. If you were to come and see me earlier or regularly, at least I would be able to help or correct whatever wrong you did.

It is indeed frustrating for me to help people. Even if they live in Penang and it is only 15 or 20 minutes away from us, they say it is difficult to come. Just to cross the Penang Bridge is already far and difficult! Yet I have patients who come all the way from Indonesia. For some Indonesian patients, it takes them two days to come to Penang! Penang people are just spoilt!

I must say it is heart-aching for me to see what happened to you. If this is the result I get all the time, it is better that I close CA Care! There is no reason why we should be around, misleading people! (Note: listening to this sad story is another breast cancer patient from Indonesia. She has been taking the herbs for almost five years now and she is okay! A lesson we learn — we win some, we lose some!).

I also like to say this. When I ask patients if they follow our advice correctly and strictly, the answer would always be “yes”! But when I started to dig in deeper, there it was — I know that they were not telling me the truth!

In this case, you come to see me too late. By right, the moment you saw a little reddish lump you should have come and see me. But you did not do that. You waited until it has spread so badly. Why did you not come and see me earlier?

K: I came to see you during the Chinese New Year (end of January 2017) but you were not around!

C: You should have come long before the Chinese New Year!

K: Oh, I did not know that! I have taken the herbs for so long already (Note: eight to ten months is not long!) I did not expect the cancer to come back.

C: I suggest you stop taking the herbs. Go and see a doctor and ask if he/she can give you chemotherapy. This may be able to help you. But know that it cannot cure you.

Comments

Kim had a metastatic medullary breast cancer, a rare type of cancer. Please understand the reality of cancer treatment …

We do not know why Kim did not follow our instructions correctly. She must have her own reasons!

Was she naive? It appeared so by her comment that she had been taking the herbs for so long and yet the cancer came back! There is no cure for cancer and taking herbs for eight or ten months is not long! You need to take the herbs for years!

Was she ignorant? She did not seem to be an educated person. Defintely she did not have a clue of what cancer is. She did not read or educated herself either.

Was she irresponsible? Did she realise that her healing and her health are her own responsibility. Others can help but only she can heal herself. And she wanted healing on her own terms?

Was our therapy ineffective? From the very beginning we tell all patients who come and see us that there is no cure for cancer! Dr. Ken Osborne and Dr. Susan Love are experts of breast cancer. Read what they said again and again and understand their message. Our herbs are no magic potion. There is no magic cure. Surgery, chemo and radiation do not cure breast cancer either. Prostate Problems: Herbs helped him!

IR is a 57-year-old Indonesian. He came to seek our help in early January 2017. His problems started in November 2015 when he had difficulty urinating. There was blood in his urine. He went to a hospital in Jakarta and underwent a transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). In this procedure the doctor inserted an instrument up the urethra to remove the blockage. After this procedure, IR was able to urinate normally.

Three months later, IR ate hai som or sea cucumber cooked in vinegar, soy sauce and chilly. The next morning he was not able to urinate again!

He  came to a private hospital in Penang. His PSA was 11 plus and he was prescribed a drug for his condition. After taking this medication his PSA dropped to 6.

But a check done on 5 January 2017 showed the PSA had gone up to 8.99. IR was unhappy about this and he came to seek our help. He presented with the following problems:

  1. Coughs with dry and itchy throat.
  2. Feeling of urine blockage. As a result he had to go the toilet frequently to release this urine.

We prescribed IR: Capsule A, C, D and M. Besides that he was given Mt. Guava Detox Tea, Prostate A and Prostate B tea. In addition he was prescribed Cough 11 and Cough 10 teas for his cough.

After a month, IR came back and reported that the problem with his cough resolved after taking the cough herbs. He took Prostate B tea for two weeks and his urine flow was normal — no more blockage. His PSA as of 11 February 2017 was 8.22 (a slight drop from 8.99).

IR was very happy with the above results. HIs PSA did not increase! When he was on doctor’s medication, his PSA dropped for a while and started to increase.

Chris: Did you take care of your diet?

IR: Yes, I followed your advice.

Listen to our conversation that morning.

Living With Her Brain Tumour for Seventeen Years

lung-plabang

AK is a 51-year-old Indonesian lady. In 2000, when AK was 35 years old, she had two seizures. She was admitted to a hospital in Jakarta. A CT scan showed a 6.2 cm mass in her brain.

AK was asked to undergo an operation. The doctor said the tumour was too big and it had to be removed bit by bit, meaning AK has to undergo three operations to remove all the mass. The doctor gave her two weeks to decide. AK refused the surgery.

Up to this day, 17 years later, AK is still doing fine. She has been taking two drugs prescribed by the doctor.

  1. Phenytoin: this is an epileptic drug or anticonvulsant. This drug is used to control seizures.
  2. Nitrazepam: this medication is used to treat sleeping problem and also treat certain types of seizures.

AK had been on these two drugs for 17 years and they helped her. AK is a school teacher and she leads a normal life. But if she stressed herself too much she became tired and need to rest.

Since AK had been taking these drugs for so many years, she felt she wanted to try some herbals and get out of these drugs. To this I cautioned AK that she should continue to take the drugs since they have been helpful for her. Why go for herbs?

Before coming to see us, AK went for a CT/MRI of her brain (below).

The mass measures 6.2 x 4.3 x 4.3 cm. It did not grow any bigger since the past 17 years. No biopsy was ever done, but according to the medical report this is a right parietal meningioma.

This is the recording of our meeting that morning.

This is the message I had for AK and her husband.

Chris: I am very impressed with your current condition. You have been living with your brain tumour for the past seventeen years. Did you suffer any problems during this time?

AK: I could lead a normal life. I am a teacher and I am still teaching. But when there was too much stress I felt tired. So I had to rest. Then everything was okay after that.

C: As I have said, I am really, really impressed. Then why do you come and see me? I don’t think you need to take my herbs. Just continue to do what you are doing.

Information from the Internet

You can go into the internet and learn more about meningioma.

  • A meningioma is a tumor that forms on membranes that cover the brainand spinal cord just inside the skull.
  • These tumors are often slow-growing. As many as 90% are benign (not cancerous) with low potential to spread.
  • But the growth of benign meningiomas can cause serious problems. In some cases, such growth can be fatal.
  • But some meningiomas are classified as atypical. These are not considered either benign or malignant (cancerous). They may become malignant. A small number of meningiomas are cancerous. They tend to grow quickly. They can also spread to other parts of the brainand beyond, often to the lungs.
  • Meningioma tumors can become quite large. Diameters of 2 inches (5 cm.) are not uncommon.
  • Meningiomas represent about 20 percent of all tumors originating in the head and 10 percent of tumors of the spine.

Symptoms

Because most meningiomas grow very slowly, symptoms often develop gradually, if they develop at all. The most common symptoms include: headaches, seizures, blurred vision, weakness in arms and legs, numbness and speech problems.

Treatment

There are three basic options: observation, surgical removal, and radiation.

Observation: Meningiomas are often slow growing, increasing in size only 1-2 mm per year. If the tumor is not causing any symptoms or not impacting on quality of life, observation is often recommended. Symptoms like seizures can be controlled with medication.

Surgery:  If the tumor’s growth threatens to cause problems or if symptoms begin to develop, surgery may be necessary. Meningioma surgery varies from relatively straightforward to highly complex, sometimes requiring multiple surgeons from different specialties. But surgery carries significant risk of side effecta that can decrease quality of life.

Radiation: This can slow or stop the growth of meningiomas. But younger patients (less than 50 years of age) need to be counselled about the risk of developing radiation-induced cancer ten or more years after radiation treatment.

Prognosis

Surgery: For tumors in favorable locations, up to 85% of meningiomas are curable with surgery. Location, the amount of the tumor left after surgery, and the skill of the neurosurgeon are the important elements in predicting a successful result.

Radiation: Stereotactic radiosurgery stops the growth of meningiomas in up to 80 percent of cases.
