Dissecting Chemotherapy 12: Almost ‘chopped off’ by CHOP-R for Her Lymphoma

Pat (not real name- SY216) is a 72-year-old lady. Sometime in mid-2010, she was on TB medication for six months. Her legs, abdomen and hands were swollen.  A CT scan done on 22 December 2010 showed a 12.1 x 10.7 x 5.6 cm mass in the para-aortic region and there are multiple masses involving the left kidney and bilateral adrenal glands.  CT chest shows cardiomegaly with mild pericardial effusion. The likely diagnosis is lymphoma.

A biopsy done on 16 February 2011 confirmed diffuse large B cell lymphoma.  Pat underwent chemotherapy. The regimen used was CHOP-R, consisting of Cyclophosphamide + Andriamycin + Vincristine + Prenisolone + Rituximab.

The first cycle that Pat received on 24 February 2011 was of low dosage. Pat received the second cycle on 4 March 2011. This second cycle was a full dose. About a week later, Pat suffered severe side effects and her husband said, “She was almost “chopped off” by CHOP-R.”

Pat and her family decided to give up further chemotherapy. She and her family came to seek our help on 23 April 2011. She presented with “bad” liver (see table of blood test of 13 April 2011). Pat was prescribed Capsule A + B, Liver-P, LL-tea for her liver and Lympho 1 and Lympho 2 teas for her lymphoma.

On 17 October 2011, Chris had a chance to meet up with Pat and her family. Listen to our conversation that day.

Pat has been taking our herbs very religiously and she is doing well after giving up her chemo. As of this writing, 15 February 2012, Pat is doing fine. According to her daughter, Pat went to Singapore for her Chinese New Year Holiday (end of January 2012).

Comments

Pat suffered badly after her first cycle of CHOP-R. She could not take it anymore. Ask this question – what could have happened if Pat were to persist and continued with her chemo? Assuming she was able to complete a course of six cycles, what could have been the benefit?

Pat gave up and turned to our herbs. Did she die of her lymphoma even after giving up the chemo?  The next important question is, can her lymphoma recur? Yes. It does not matter if she had completed her full course of chemo or not.

The late Dr. Stephen Schneider, was a world famous professor at Stanford University. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2001. He was treated by Dr. Sandra Horning, a leading expert on lymphoma – “the best person in the world for treating what you have”. Dr. Horning is also from Stanford and is a professor of medicine. Schneider received the “new” Stanford’s chemotherapy regimen using CHOP + R. After three cycles of CHOPR-R, CT scan showed that the lumps had disappeared. Schneider continued with chemotherapy and in total had six cycles. Although in remission Schneider was told that the cancer cells might still be hiding somewhere in the body – perhaps the bones and behind the eye balls. To be sure, Schneider had to undergo a bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Sandra said, “We never use the word ‘cure’ just remission. We’re very hopeful you will have a long and strong remission.”

It is sad to say that in spite of all the best efforts, Dr. Schneider died on 19 July 2010, after an apparent heart attack on an airplane while en route to London from a scientific conference in Stockholm. He was 65. In short, Schneider survived for nine years after his cancer diagnosis and treatment.  Did medicine really cure his cancer? Does this sound familiar?  The operation is a success but the patient died of complications?   Cytoxan (one of the chemo drug used on Schneider) has its harmful effects.  Schneider received a lot of that drug and he knew the odds when it wrote “it was known to deteriorate heart and lung condition, the cost-benefit calculus was not going to see me getting away scot-free.”

Let me end by asking you to reflect on the following quotations:

Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma of the Stomach: One cycle of chemo made him really sick. He took herbs and life was restored

Eng (H241) is a 65-year-old male.  In 2007 he underwent an angioplasty procedure. Sometime in July 2009, he suffered from indigestion and nausea. Then in August 2009, he vomited blood. He was admitted into a government hospital. A biopsy done on 23 October 2009 indicated large cell, B-cell type gastric non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) of intermediate grade.

On 8 December 2009, he underwent chemotherapy with modified CHOP –  cyclophosphamide + vincristine + Epirubicin and Prednisolone.  Medical record indicated he received a LOWER dosage due to his past medical history.  He suffered the following severe side effects after just a cycle of chemotherapy.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Fevers, temperature 38.1 C
  • Slow heartbeat (junctional bradycardia)
  • Hardening (consolidation) of the right lung
  • Stroke (left thalamus infarction)
  • Uncontrolled hypertension

As a result of the above, life was difficult for Eng. He had no strength and was unable to urinate. This is what was written on his medical report. “20 December 2009 – In view of patient’s poor tolerance to chemo and the lesion is localized within the stomach” patient was referred for radiotherapy.

Eng was asked to undergo 25 times of radiation treatment. He refused.  He was discharged and prescribed with the following drugs:

  1. Omeprazole
  2. Lovastatin
  3. Ticlid
  4. Isordil
  5. Amlodipine
  6. Perindopril
  7. Prazocin
  8. Gliclazide
  9. Laquid paraffin
  10. Lactulose

Patient’s daughter came to seek our help on 17 January 2010. She presented her father’s condition as below:

  1. No pain
  2. Unable to sleep
  3. Can’t eat  – no appetite, nausea and sometimes vomit
  4. Tired
  5. Bowel movements once every few days – constipatioin
  6. Cough with sticky phlegm
  7. Breathless
  8. No strength

We prescribed Capsule A, C-tea, Lympho 1 and 2 teas, Constipation tea and Appetite & Vomit tea.

24 January 2010: After one week on the herbs, his appetite and bowel movements improved. He could talk with a louder voice. But he still had difficulty with urination.

29 January 2010: No more nausea, every day he moved his bowels, and he was able to walk better. Before the herbs he was only able to stand up for a while only.

5 March 2010: Health improved – could walk. Appetite improved. Swelling of both legs were gone. He was able to urinate.  For the first time, his daughter brought her father to meet us (see video).

12 November 2010: Eng came to see us. He was doing fine.

9 December 2011: He was doing fine – almost two years since he started taking the herbs.  Eng came to see us with his daughter (see video).

Permission to use this video without having to mask patient’s face is granted by the family.

Comments

  1. Because of his medical history, Eng was only given “lower” dose chemotherapy. In spite of that, he suffered severe side effects. What do you think could happen if he was to be given a “FULL” dose? Can he die from the treatment?
  2. What is the idea or rationale of receiving “lower” dose chemotherapy? Do you mean to say that a “lower” dose can also cure him when using a “full “dose may not cure patients?
  3. Since further chemotherapy had to be aborted, Eng was asked to undergo 25 times of radiotherapy. Was this a wise advice? Can radiotherapy cure stomach lymphoma?
  4. What could have happened if Eng were to undergo radiotherapy? Would he not suffer even worse side effects?

The family decided to give up medical treatment. Eng’s daughter surfed the net and found CA Care. Eng was put on herbs. His conditions improved and as of this writing (13 December 2011), after almost two years, he is still doing fine.

  1. Does this not indicate that what Eng did for the past two years – taking herbs and change of diet – is good for him?  How much scientific proof do we need from this success story?
  2. Think hard – do you really need chemo or radiation for such a case? Is there not a better way of treating such a “sick” person like Eng besides such invasive treatments?

Let me end with these quotations:

Kidney Cancer: Remove One and a Half Kidneys Then Go For Dialysis!

What if you were told to remove one kidney because of your cancer? That’s okay. I have a patient and friend,  who had a kidney removed because of his cancer. He took herbs and was on our diet. He is living a good life for the past sixteen years.

But what if you were told to remove one and a half of your kidneys? That would be a dilemma. The remaining one half kidney may not function. You may need to go on dialysis for the rest of your life.

And what if removing your kidney does not really solve your cancer problem? Surgery does not cure cancer. It just buys you time. Cancer can recur. What if the cancer recurs? That means you need the toxic chemotherapy treatment besides having to undergo dialysis to keep you alive.

What if you live in a place where you are not sure if there is a “good” dialysis facility? That is not your doctor’s problem anymore.

I am not “cooking” up these questions. I had to deal with this problem not long ago – while I was on a vacation. I received this email on 20 November 2011.

To: Dr. Chris K.H. Teo,

My father had been diagnosed with kidney cancer. I am now confused as to what to do. A friend recommended me to see Dr. Teo. Hopefully Dr. Teo can help. We are now in Singapore, if it is possible to meet, I will be looking for flights to Penang today. Thank you. (Translated from Indonesian)

Knowing that he was desperate, I told him to come and see me as soon as I was back in Malaysia. So on 24 November 2011, SK and his two sons came to Penang. Below is our conversation that day.

SK’s problem started about two years ago. He had blood in his urine. He consulted an urologist who prescribed him medication. The problem disappeared. Then in May 2011, there was again blood in his urine.

An ultrasound of his abdomen on 27 May 2011 indicated a 67.2 x 64.2 mm mass in his right kidney and a 70.5 x 56.0 mm mass in his left kidney.

SK was again prescribed medication and the problem disappeared after taking it. In mid-November 2011, SK again had blood in his urine. Accompanied by his two sons, SK went to Singapore for further consultation.

A CT scan done on 16 November 2011 indicated a large mass, 6.7 x 8.4 x 7 cm in size in the left kidney. The right kidney has a nodular mass, 6.6. x 4.9 x 6.4 cm in size. Appearances are highly of bilateral renal neoplasm.

A blood test on 16 November 2011 showed elevated creatinine (141.0) level. His alkaline phosphatase was at 165 (high) and GGT at 228 (high). Other parameters, including AFP, CEA and PSA, were within normal range.

A bone scan done on 21 November 2011 indicated no conclusive evidence of any bony metastases.

Based on the above, the doctor in Singapore said he was 95 percent sure that SK has kidney cancer. SK was asked to undergo an operation to remove the tumours in both his kidneys. This would involve removing one and a half kidneys. There is a 50:50 chance that the remaining one half of the other kidney may not function after the surgery. If this happens, SK would have to be on dialysis. In spite of this set back, the doctor said the tumours must be removed.

SK and his sons refused further medical treatment. SK told us, “What the doctor offered me is not going to solve my problems.” He opted for our therapy. On 24 November 2011, SK was prescribed Capsule A and B, Liver Tea, Kidney Tea, Detox+ WF Tea and Lung Tea. While back in Indonesia, we kept in touch via e-mails through his son.

1 December 2011

I wish to inform you about my father’s condition. After taking the herbs for 6 days and following your diet recommendation, he felt weak, sweat very frequently, lost his appetite, felt nauseous. Are these expected?

Reply: Continue taking the herbs and let me know what happen after one more week.

2 December  2011

Today my father vomited and could not eat anything. After eating he vomited. He felt nauseous. Should he continue taking the herbs? Because of the vomiting he cannot even drink the herbal teas. Please advise.

Reply: Okay. Take Capsule A only. Then see what happen after that. If okay, drink Detox tea + WF + Capsule A – see what happen. Let me know. Chris.

9 December 2011

I wish to inform you about my father conditions:

a)      After stopping Capsule B, his stomach felt better, he vomited less but he still vomited at night.

b)      His whole body was very uncomfortable – very tired, sweating, blurred vision, dizzy when standing up. Are these the side effects of the herbs?

c)       Now my father is taking: Capsule A (1 capsule, 3 times per day), Energy and Kidney Teas. He does not take: Capsule B, Detox tea + WF, Liver and Lung teas. What is your advice? Should continue or stop any one of them?

d)      After 10 days on the herbs, we did a blood test. The results are attached. Please have a look if there is any improvement? What do you think?

Reply:

a)  He should not have such side effects – is he the kind of person who is fussy about his food? Difficult and selective about the taste of food?

b) Feeling of discomforts is because of his stomach? Any gastric problem before? Did he take Capsule A + B with honey water?

c) What about his blood pressure? His blood counts were low but I don’t expect such problems.

d) I have no other way. If you take the herbs and they are not helpful, go and find someone else to help you.

e) Go to this link and read what it takes to be a winner. http://cancercareindonesia.com/2011/09/11/kanker-paru-otak-suatu-penyembuhan-yang-tidak-mungkin-1-harapan-setelah-suatu-bencana-empat-puluh-siklus-kemoterapi-iressa-tarceva-dan-sutent-tid      Read this carefully.

f) Don’t expect after taking the herbs for 10 days the blood test results are going to be better.

15 December 2011

Dr. Chris. Thank you for the information. My father is improving. He is now taking all the herbs, except Capsule B as you have suggested. In the next 5 days our herbs are going to be finished and we plan to come and see you on 21 December 2011. Would you be able to see us?

Reply:  Okay come and see me, 10.30 a.m. Chris

Second Visit to CA Care – 22rd – 23 December 2011

SK, his wife and son came to CA Care after taking herbs for three weeks. On the second week of taking the herbs, he experienced healing crisis. He had more problems and was not getting better but these problems gradually resolved by themselves. If you know more by what we need by healing crisis, click on this link: https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2012/01/18/healing-crisis/

The e-Therapy machine is helping all my family members, including me. All of us are using the machine. Day by day my father’s condition, after coming back, is getting better. Now, his appetite is getting better, physically he looks more fresh and energetic. We celebrated Christmas eve by watching the movie at the cinema. He was so excited at the moment. Thank you for your advice and support, Dr. Chris. GBU

Reply:  Very good and happy to hear that. Yes, make your father happy always. Please let me know the following:

a) Before he vomited, now does he still vomit?

b) Any pain in the stomach?

c) Does the machine help him with the stomach problem? I asked you to use the program for Stomach function program.

d) Is there any pain any where?

Thanks so much and keep well always. Chris

6 January 2012

Yes, I hope day by day will be better and better.

a) No, a day after coming back from Penang he felt better with his stomach. He told me that after winds came out from his stomach, he felt so good. He never needs to take the Vomit herb until now.

b) He said that there is no pain in his stomach, but he felt so much wind in there.

c)  After coming back from Penang, and after he felt better with his stomach, he never used the Stomach function program at all. He does the cancer programs only.

d) According to him, there is a little pain in his kidney (more in the right kidney), the pains  comes just sometimes.

Reply: Thanks so much for your answer. I am happy to note that he is not vomiting anymore. And he continues to take the other herbs? Chris

7 January 2012

Yes, he takes all the herbs: Energy, Liver-P, Kidney, Lung, Capsule A & B, Detox tea. And he is doing the machine program like you taught me. Morning, midday and at night – everyday.

Reply: One more question — After he took all the herbs — did he vomit this time? Before he came and saw me the second time and before using the machine —- he vomited after taking herbs or even drinking something. Now is he , no vomit? Chris

7 January 2012

Morning Dr. Chris,

Alright, no vomiting anymore. Even after taking the Capsule B (before you suggested that he stop taking it because he vomited after taking Capsule B).  Now he is taking all the herbs, except Vomit Tea.

Reply: Great and thanks. Chris

15 January 2012

Dr. Chris,

My father vomited again this night. He told me there was a lot of gas in his stomach. Morning and mid-day he felt good, but in the night not good (every day). What do you think? Is it the effect after take capsule B? Your opinion please.
Thank you.

Reply: Can you try #72 -Stomach problem and there is also #124 Stomach Gas. Try one first and see what happens. Then later try another and see what happens. I think his stomach is not good. Let me know. Chris

16 January 2012

What happen to the vomit now? Chris

20 January 2012

Dr. Chris,

My father is not vomiting anymore.

Reply: Okay thank you — next time you know what to do if he vomits again. You use the machine for his vomit? Chris

26 January 2012

Hello Dr.Chris,

Happy Chinese New Year. Yes, my dad used the machine for his vomit. Thanks.

Comments

This is indeed a sad story. I fully empathize with SK. He was in limbo having to choose between the “devil and the deep blue sea.” As a rule, any patient who comes to us with kidney tumour will be told to go back to his/her doctor for surgery. Get the diseased kidney out! Then come to us for herbs. But in this case, it is not possible for me to say that to SK. If surgery can ensure that the cancer does not recur and spread to other organs then I am tempted to “push” him towards surgery.  At least SK will end up with only just a problem –dialysis for the rest of his life. But what if the cancer comes back, example to his lung? Chemo would be the obvious answer! I have fully explained this scenario to SK and his two sons.

As you can hear from our conversation, SK and his family have already decided to decline further medical intervention. The treatment plan proposed by the Singapore does not make sense to him. Likewise, I tell all patients – evaluate what your doctor has got to offer you – if it makes sense, go for it. If it does not make sense, don’t go for it! It is your responsibility to make whatever decision that you are most comfortable with.

Sometimes before making a decision, it is wise for patients or their loved ones to “read and read”. Don’t just listen and believe what your doctor or friends said. Find the necessary information yourself, if you can. In this way, at least you can go to the “battle” well prepared.

This is exactly what I did in SK’s case. To be better informed, I searched the internet for the answers to the questions below. And you will be surprised that there are many others asking the same questions and there are equally many others who are willing to share their own experiences with you.

  1. Could You Live Without Your Kidneys?
  • A person can live with only one functioning kidney if the other is diseased or has been removed. But no one can live without both kidneys, unless he undergoes almost daily treatments on a dialysis machine.
  • I recently had both kidneys removed and only require dialysis 3 times a week for 4 hours each visit. In each session I filter approx 68 litres of blood. I have to take tablets for blood pressure as well as other conditions and can only drink 500ml of fluid a day as I no longer make any pee. I have a low potassium, sodium and phosphate diet. So yes, you can live without kidneys, but it’s not straightforward or easy.
  • I don’t have any kidneys and I haven’t had any for 6 years now. I do my dialysis 3 days in a week for 5 hours at a time.
  • About 9 months ago I had both kidneys removed. I need dialysis 4 times a week for 4 hours. I can drink 0. 5 litre to 1 liter per day, but for example I drank about 8 liter last weekend. Drink-throw up, drink-throw up, drink-throw up – that’s the answer.
  • I currently have half a kidney on one side and one 3rd on the other half of my body. So I don’t have one full kidney. I am still living an awesome life … doing anything I want.

2.   So, what is your life like on dialysis?

  • Obviously it is going to be a life changing thing but something that we must learn to cope with and becomes part of our life. No one would choose dialysis versus normal functioning kidneys. However without dialysis life is not possible at all. There are risks of taking off too much fluid or not enough fluid. There are risks of infection, both blood infections and infections of the fistula.  Again, no one volunteers to do dialysis but it is definitely better than dying from renal failure. In my experience, patients usually learn to cope well and make it a “normal part of life”.
  • I went on dialysis at age 45 and did very well. Most of the time I felt very good. I was in good shape. Here is what worked for me. I was very compliant with my treatment. I did not skip dialysis sessions and I didn’t end them before my time on the machine was done. I followed the diet, which can make a big difference in how you feel.  I did not have fluid restrictions. I took all my medicines. I had very good doctors and an extremely good nursing team at dialysis. I tried to educate myself about dialysis & kidney disease.
  • My brother suffered total kidney failure and had to go on dialysis. He feels constantly tired and generally ill, he’s on a massively strict diet plan (rule of thumb: if it’s nice, you probably can’t have it). Although he can do occasional driving work on my uncle’s farm, anything more than a half-day’s worth leaves him exhausted.
  • My mom was on dialysis. My mom has said she would rather die than do dialysis again. The restrictive diet was really hard especially the drinking less liquid part of it. Having said all that her Doctors were quite firm with her that she should continue working and have as normal a life as a possible while doing the dialysis, they said and I can see this to be true, that removing the things that normalize her life would make her more prone to depression and more apt to feel awful about her treatment. So she continued to work.
  • I am a 37 yr old female. To be perfectly honest I HATE dialysis, I hate having to sit in a chair for 3 and a half hours,  bored, and  senseless out of my mind, hardly a soul to talk to, having to sit without moving in case the stupid perm-a-cath in my neck decides to play up, the fact my pulse races anywhere up to and over 150. If it wasn’t for my husband, son and mum and dad I think I would just tell them to get lost and do without it. I am starting to hate Monday, Wednesday and Friday – the days in between aren’t much better. If I am not out in hot flushes in throwing up, but because of my family I keep going.
  • Deciding not to do dialysis is not suicide!!! It’s natural. I personally do not do well on dialysis but I see other people that do better. No one in my center is happy about being there especially me. On dialysis days I go from 5:30 am to 8:30 am. I can’t drive after this because it takes such a toll on me so my husband picks me up and takes me home and goes back to work. I am down for the day. They next day I feel a little better so I get some house work done and cook dinner for 2 days in advance. I always said I would not do dialysis but here I am doing it with the hope of getting a transplant and that is the only reason I have continued for 5 months. My quality of life stinks. I have nothing to look forward to. It is starting to take a toll financially. My marriage is suffering in several ways. So what I am living for is not to disappoint other people. I feel like a burden. I want my life back.
  • My brother has been on dialysis for 5 years now and is 24. The only thing that bothers him about dialysis is it can become an inconvenience. It does make him weaker and very tired, but only on the day he has it, and this usually only lasts a few hours. But as most people have said there is a fluid intake limit and if the patient exceeds this limit it can have side effects such as sickness. The machine affects everyone differently.
  • I have been on dialysis for almost three years. At first I liked going because it made me feel so much better. Then it was annoying and boring. Then I hated it with a passion and resented having to go. Now I just accept it and go, trying to make the best of it with books, CDs and my portable DVD player. Those three days a week make the rest of my life possible. On the regular days, I am reasonably energetic, I exercise and eat well, so I look as healthy as anyone else, maybe more so.

3.   How long can a person live on dialysis?

  • Until they die.
  • I’m 62 yrs old and have Agent Orange Cancer and diabetes type 2. I will be stopping dialysis, just too tired to keep going. Yes I know that it is death warrant but it is time to let go.
  • My wife is on dialysis. I have heard of people being on it for over twenty years, So, if you take care of yourself, it should be able to go indefinitely if needed.
  • I have been living with dialysis for the past 24yrs (I am 43yrs old) and I still doing quite well.
  • So how long can a person live on dialysis. As long as they need to, or as long as they want to, or as long as they can. It’s just like how long can you live at all. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone, regardless of their health!
  • My great aunt has been on dialysis for about 15 years! She’s living a long and healthy life so far. As of now, she is 89 years old!
  • The answer to that varies with individual. I have been on dialysis for 3 1/2 years now. It has been a horrific experience. One, the big dialysis machines (hemo) WILL KILL YOU. They beat you senseless so you have the shakes the rest of the day and get NO sleep at night. So you just sort of try and recover the next day, so you can get pasted all over again. Two, have a career? Forget IT. Once you have been tagged as a sicky you are going nowhere fast, no matter your degrees or training. Three, hemo dialysis just weakens you in the short run, medium run, and long run so other diseases can take hold. The person who answered that you can have a long productive life on dialysis is a quack. probably one of these quack doctors in the field. They probably never did one hour on dialysis. YOU WANT REALITY? Take it from a REAL patient.
  • My father just passed away last month, he had dialysis for almost ten years. I can see him getting weaker and weaker each day. Finally his heart became so weak that he cannot take dialysis anymore.
  • There are a lot of good answers in here. Unfortunately, it’s tough to give an accurate number since every case is different. One patient might make it for 20+ years, another might not make it to 4. A lot depends on how well the person takes care of themselves during dialysis and how much kidney function they have left. It seems to me, the less kidney activity you have the worse off you’re going to be.

Outlook of Kidney Cancer

The prognosis for kidney cancer is usually good when a single kidney is removed and the cancer is at its early stage. If both kidneys are removed or the remaining kidney does not function well enough, patients need hemodialysis or a kidney transplant. Unfortunately kidney cancer has a tendency to reoccur after surgery. When that happens, the game is virtually over because metastatic kidney cancer is generally resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

You may then ask, “So what can CA Care has got to offer?” As I have always said to patients. “We have nothing to cure your cancer – for whatever cancer you have!” Go to your doctor if you want a cure. Go to your doctor if you want to put up a good “fight” with your cancer. Come to us if you want healing. At CA Care we teach you how to live with your cancer and with our herbs and change of lifestyle and diet, hopefully these will help restore your health.  We hope to help rebuild your life so that you can still continue to live a pain-free and   meaningful life without fear. We want you to recognise that death is an inevitable part of life. Therefore you should be living your life without fear. Don’t you not realize that the day we are born, we are destined to die? No one can escape this ultimate destiny. Medicine cannot win over death no matter how heroic your doctor’s effort is or how great the technology applied is. Rather than fight, let’s accept the inevitable so that we can live a more relaxed and happy life.

Professor Jane Plant went to war with her cancer. At the end she said,

Update: 24 February 2012

Hallo Dr. Chris, My father’s health as a person is not bad. He can do some activities every day. He is in Jambi now. He came back to Jambi at 12th January 2012. Dr. Chris, do you think that my father have a hope to survive with his condition, your opinion please. He does all your suggestions, diet etc. Do you think the sciatica and sore in his waist is normal? Thanks.

Ovarian Cancer: Part 3 My Experience With Chemotherapy and Your Herbs

When you underwent chemotherapy, you were told that you had Stage 4 cancer. Did the oncologist tell you whether the chemo was going to cure you?

H: This was what the doctor told us after the surgery, “Remember you must go for chemo. You need to go for six cycles.” I still remember this was what he told us. Then he added, “You have Stage 4 cancer – you must go for chemo. Remember that.”

Did you ask him if the chemo can cure her?

H: At that time my impression was chemo would be able to cure her.

Did you suffer while undergoing chemotherapy?

Yes. I couldn’t sleep. Vomited and had pains until the bones.

H: On top of it, she was bald.

Becoming bald, that is a normal thing! Every three weeks you have one cycle of chemo. How long did your suffering last after each chemo.

One week of suffering. After I regained my strength I went in for another shot. I couldn’t eat and my body felt very tired. During that time I felt like dying. I could not carry anything and I was drained off my energy. After I recovered I have to go for another bang.

You had three cycles of chemo. Which is the more difficult – the first one or the second one?

The second was worse than the first one. But for the third cycle I was alright – that was after I started to take your herbs.

Oh, you started taking the herbs after your second chemo and just before your went for the third one?

Yes, before the third chemo. I took your Chemo Tea and also the Upper Pain Tea.

H: I still remember what you told me, “I am not pushing you to go for chemo. But I also do not tell you to stop the chemo. I don’t want the blame. But if you want to go for chemo then take the Chemo Tea. “ So she took your teas and went for her third chemo.

Did you suffer any side effects after that?

Very little.

H: I observed her. There was difference this time. Before the herbs she had to sleep and was in pain. After taking your herbs there was no more problem. That was what I observed – there was this difference.

Siti: One more thing doctor. During the first chemo and the second chemo, the doctor said my blood was not good. After taking the herbs for about a month or so, the doctor said my blood was good. That was what the doctor in the government hospital told me. But he did not know that I was already on your herbs. I have another problem when I was on chemo. I tend to forget things. I boiled water for hours and I did not remember that. When I boiled the herbs and then went upstairs, I had to pray and pray that I did not forget what I did.

That was what they called, “chemo-brain”. Now, it has been five years since you have chemo – do you still have this chemo brain?

Yes, once a while. I still tend to forget things.

H: But this problem was not as bad as previously. Before it was severe.

Who said you had Stage 4 cancer?

The surgeon who operated on me said so. I just met her last month (after five years).  This is what she told me, “Patient who had cancer like you, ought to be sleeping on the bed and not able to walk around.” She was implying that I ought to be dead by now.

That was what she told you?

Yes, the specialist who operated on me.  One day, my son was also admitted into the same hospital for his appendix problem. I was in the hospital and happened to meet the surgeon. She said, “ Siti, you are well?” Her tone and reaction showed me that she was really surprised that I am still alive. She then phoned another doctor and said (I hear her conversation): “You still remember Siti – a patient some four to five years back. She is still around!” Imagine what she said, I am still around and alive! Then she told me, “Siti, come back and let’s have a CT scan.” She persuaded me to come back to the hospital and do the scan. After thinking about it, I thought I should do the scan.

I went to do the CT scan. I was trembling at that time – very concerned if they would find something inside me. After the scan, the surgeon stared at me and said, “Congratulations – I could not find anything in there – not even a scar.”

Did the doctor ever ask you what you have been doing?

She did not ask much. She looked at me. I guessed she wanted to ask me something but was reluctant. I was not sure if she was shy or was ashamed or what.

But did she know that you are taking herbs?

Yes, I told her about that but she did not ask me for more details.  After I was told of the CT scan result I said to her, “I want to go and tell Dr. Chris about this.” She asked me, “Who is Dr. Chris.” I replied, “The herbalist from Penang.”

You are indeed blessed. If you asked me then what I could do for you, I must admit I would not know what to answer. But let me remind you that even after surviving five years you are not cured yet. To the doctors surviving five years is considered “cure”. That is not true at all. Even if you survive ten years, it is still not a cure.

I want to thank you so much for helping me. I pray that your will continue to do this good work forever and ever to help our society.

Let us all praise God and be grateful to Him for his blessing. He gave me the knowledge to help others.

Ovarian Cancer: Part 2 Initially We Did Not Believe in What You Are Doing

Our interview with Siti was done in 2005. She had been taking our herbs for the past five years.

All these are God’s blessing.

Husband: We are indeed grateful to Razuddin who “pushed” us so many times to come and see you. At first we were hesitant.

Because you did not believe in what we do?

H: Yes indeed – I don’t believe in your herbal therapy. But then Razuddin kept insisting and one day we fixed an appointment in my office. Then I relented and he drove us to Penang to see you.

Siti: When we came I was till undergoing my chemo.

H: She already had two cycles and was going on to the third. I still remember you tell me, “If you want to go for chemo, you can then take the Chemo Tea.” My wife took the Chemo Tea and she felt the difference! Before the herbs, she had pains, fevers and was unable to sleep due to the chemo. Before she started on the third cycle of chemo she took the Chemo Tea – three days before and three days after the chemo. She was alright – no problem. This result started to make us believe in what you are doing.

Well, as I have said, you are blessed. Whatever it is you received this blessing. There are people who missed on this. At CA Care we are not “hunting” for people to come and see us. Those who need our help can come those who want us to help them, we will help. Those who don’t need our help – that’s fine.

H: I am indeed grateful to Razuddin for his insistence to bring us here to see you. If not for this repeated insistence we would not know you. It’s indeed God’s blessing. So the truth is, we started off being very skeptical about what you are doing – and we did not believe your therapy.

(Note: Razuddin is our colon cancer patient. He underwent surgery but refused chemo absolutely. He immediately started on our therapy and has been doing fine for many years now).

Siti, when you came to Penang that day, did you believe us at all?

I was doubtful – not sure at all. But after I started taking the herbs, I felt better and my health improved. I started to believe you.

After you started on the herbs, you gave up after the third cycle of chemo. Why did you give up chemo?

(Laugh)

H: She was getting better. There is no reason why we should go for anymore chemo.

The doctor was not angry with you for not continuing? Did he not call you to come back for the fourth shot?

Yes, the doctor kept calling me but I just did not turn up.

After taking the herbs, did you really feel better?

Yes, I felt my body was healthier. I have no more pains. I had more strength.

H: My wife had Stage 4 cancer. Most of my friends knew this. But after taking your herbs, these friends were really surprised to see her so well and healthy. Some of them were asking where to find your herbs. Some of these people have relatives who had undergone chemo – only one died recently.

Siti: My friend told me that I don’t look like a cancer patient.  I don’t look like I am having cancer because I looked so well and healthy.

H: She did not show any symptoms that she had cancer.

How long were you on the herbs before you could feel that you were doing well?

After taking the herbs for about a year.

Apart from our herbs, did you take any other herbs or medication?

Only vitamin supplements. No other medication.  Even when I was undergoing the third cycle of chemo, I did not take the doctor’s medication. I threw them away. I just took Dr. Chris’ herbs.

H: One more positive point. After taking the herbs we also went for the blood tests. The results were good. We repeated the test a few months later. The results were also good.  So that increased our confidence in what you are doing. Now we are confident.

Ovarian Cancer: Part 1 She Gave Up Chemotherapy and Turned to Herbs – Still Healthy After Seven Years

Siti was 48 years old when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer Stage 4. She underwent a total hysterectomy in 2005 followed by three cycles of chemotherapy. She gave up chemo. At first Siti and her husband did not believe in what we at CA Care are doing. Many times, they were “pushed” by a friend to come and see us. Eventually Siti and her husband relented and came to Penang. From then on it was no turning back. Siti’s health improved.  It has been seven years now and she is going well.

This video recording was done in 2010 – five years after she was started on the herbs.

Chris: How are you doing?

Siti: Thank God I am going fine – very well and healthy.

Any problem at all? Any pain?

No pain. But if I don’t take the herbs, I can feel some pains. But the pain is not serious. Just a little only. And after I take the herbs, the pains go away.

Have you gone back to see your doctor lately?

Yes, I saw the surgeon who operated on me. She said, “Thank God” I am clean – no recurrence.

Husband: The surgeon was very surprised.

Did the surgeon know that you did not complete your chemo? (Done only three out of six cycles).

I told the surgeon that I was taking Dr. Chris’ herbs from Penang. But the way she reacted, I felt she was reluctant to ask me for more details. I saw a few doctors were gathered together and they were talking about me and some were looking at me. The surgeon told me, “By right you should be lying in bed – Stage 4 cancer – should be lying in bed.” She looked at me in disbelief.

Since taking the herbs, did you also take care of your diet?

Yes.

And you took the herbs “religiously”?

Yes.

Exercise regularly?

No, I have problems with my knees. I only walked a little.

You have been on the herbs for five years now – since 2005 – tell me do you get “fed-up” taking this stuff?

What can I do? I have no choice. I have to take them. I am not going to stop. God has led me to find these herbs and they are good for my health. I am grateful and I should not feel “fed-up”.

FLASHBACK – 11 November 2005

Siti and her husband visited CA Care in Penang. They were accompanied by a friend, Razuddin,

About fifteen years ago, Siti underwent an operation to remove her fibroids. In 2005, her stomach bloated and she was later diagnosed with bilateral papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovaries with metastasis to the omentum.

At the time of this visit, Siti had received two cycles of chemotherapy and was to receive another cycle in six days’ time. Since Siti was not sure if she would like to take our herbs, I left it to her to decide if she wanted to continue with her third cycle of chemo. I prescribed her the Chemo-Tea in the event that she decided to continue with her chemo.

Siti presented with prickling pains in her abdomen. She was unable to sleep. She had pains in the middle of the top of her head. For her cancer I prescribed her Capsule A, Utero-ovary Tea, and T & E. For her headache she was given Upper Pain tea.

Nose (NPC) Cancer: Eleven Plus Years on Herbs Part 1: My Radio-chemotherapy Experience

The story of Dr. Peter Ooi (currently Professor) was kept untold for a decade.  But as 2012 set in, I thought it would be wonderful to share his cancer experience with you all. So I wrote Peter telling him about this and below is his e-mail reply on 26 January 2012.

Dear Chris,

The Lord be with you and indeed thanks to you. Dr. Chen, the ENT specialist that I consult annually from Glenagles, Singapore confirmed that I am indeed healthy.  He suggested that I continue with my diet and the herbs I take from you … Dr. Chen also shared with me his views that 11+ years is a good sign for remission.  You may know that I am now tasked with setting up the Department of Agriculture and Food Sciences … I took up the professorial chair as I wanted to share my belief in the God given richness of our agro-biodiversity and the need to help students understand that we can have profitability without sacrificing the environment and play God … I have no objection to you using my name in your video clip.  Yes, I am proud to say that I believe in a more holistic approach to healing as it is in the good hands of the Lord. You may refer to me as Peter Ooi to confirm that I am a Christian and a Hokkien as NPC is more common among the Hokkiens and Cantonese. Once again, thank God for people like you. God bless.

Dr. Peter Ooi was 51 years old when he was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC – nose cancer) Stage 2/3 in 2000. At that time he was with the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) in Bangkok. Later Peter became the Director of the Asian Regional Centre of the World Vegetable Center, also based in Bangkok.  Peter “immediately took up the aggressive procedure of both radiation and chemotherapy.” He completed 35 sessions of radiation treatments and at the same time received chemotherapy. He gave up chemotherapy after four cycles – the treatment made him too sick!

Let him tell you what it was like to be at the receiving end of radio-chemo treatments.

Part 1: Radiotherapy Experience

  • The treatment burnt my whole throat – like it was on fire.
  • My wife cried, because I couldn’t drink even a drop of water.
  • I could not walk by myself.
  • I was not told about the side effects of radiotherapy.
  • I have no more salivary glands (that is why in the video you see Peter having to taking sips of water very often when talking to us).

Part 2: Chemo Experience

  • I was not told about the side effects of chemotherapy – the only thing mentioned was hair loss.
  • I stopped chemo after the fourth cycle – I was too weak.
  • I developed a phobia for “needle”. The veins in my hands just “disappeared” when I see a needle!

Part 3: Treatment Satisfaction

  • Doctors should have told patients more about the expected side effects of the treatments
  • The oncologist could not answer the questions I asked, such as why use this or that drugs? It is always the standard answer that they give – “standard regimen or protocol”.

My Comments

It is indeed our privilege to be able to help Peter at the time when he needed us and also to be able to share with you his cancer experience. This video recording was made in Bangkok, in 2007 – about seven years after Peter started to take the herbs. I hope those reading this story will benefit from Peter’s experience as much as I benefited and enjoyed our conversation that day.

  • There is this common perception that only the “uneducated, kampong folks” who opted for alternative medicine – and they go to the “quacks”. Is that right? Far from it – here is Dr. Peter Ooi – a fellow scientist – realising that the standard fare dished out to cancer patients is not good enough and is not the answer to our present-day cancer problem.  In fact the reverse seems to be true – those who know or are knowledgeable enough turn to holistic, alternative treatments when they get cancer. Why?
  • People with “thinking” mind will see the deficiencies of modern medicine when it comes to cancer. Chemo drugs injected into patients are toxic drugs.  Dr. Glenn Warner, a medical doctor put it this way rather aptly:
  • One lesson we can learn from Peter’s experience is that cancer doctors do not tell their patients the whole truth – only half truth. It is left to patients themselves to learn (and often through the hard way) the other untold half of the whole truth. Why are they so evasive about the “bad” effects of their treatments? Do they ever admit that most of the time their treatments do not work or may even kill patients? Read the story of LCC – he died within six months while undergoing chemotherapy for his nose cancer. Click this link: https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2012/01/26/nose-npc-cancer-chemo-and-he-was-dead-six-months-later-why/   Peter’s experience is not much different – he was drained of his energy and unable to walk by himself during his treatment.  But he was wiser – he abandoned his chemo after the fourth cycle. Of course to the chagrin of his brother-in-law, a medical doctor.
  • Take note of what  Dr James Forsythe, an oncologist, wrote:
  • Peter went into chemo and radiation with full confidence – gung-ho spirit but he came out of it almost half dead. And his confidence in his doctor shattered. I often wonder why oncologists (some or most?) don’t come clean with their patients. Why withhold information that is important to patients?  Is it because they fear that patients will run away from them? Let’s not deny that many patients may do so if they know the whole truth.  In the book, Severed Trust, Dr. George Lundberg, M.D. wrote:

CA Care’s Cough Herbs Are Amazingly Effective

Today, at CA Care we have about 120 types of herbal teas to address the problems faced by cancer patients.

When we first started CA Care in 1995, we have only two types of herbal formulation that we handed out to cancer patients – Capsule A and Capsule B. Soon we realized that we need to do more to address the various problems that cancer patients had, such as coughs, constipation, fluid retention, etc.

I can still remember our frustrations when patients came with severe coughs and we could do nothing to help. Sending them to their doctors would not do!

Watch this video and you will understand why I said that (with due respect to medical doctors).

Case Presentation

Case 1:  She caught the “cough bugs” from a patient sleeping in the next bed in the hospital. Throughout the 15 days warded in the hospital the cough medicine prescribed by her doctor did not help her. She took our cough herbs for three days and her coughs were gone!

Case 2:  This lady had severe coughs for about a year, prior to her Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis. She had three X-rays done and taken cough medications prescribed by her doctor. These did nothing to solve her problem. She took our cough herbs for four days and her coughs were gone!

Case 3: In this family, the father, son and daughter had severe coughs. Each of them took just a cup of our herbal tea – and only once – their coughs were gone. The father’s coughs were severe. He was unable to sleep at night. He had seen his doctor three times and was given cough medications but they were not effective. Father took a cup of our Cough #11 – only once – and the coughs were gone and he was able to sleep well that night.

Case 4:  This gentleman had been coughing severely for the past three to four months. He had seen two doctors for six times. The medication the doctors prescribed did not help him at all. He took our Cough #11 for four days and his coughs were gone.

Case 5: This patient was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to his brain. He had itchy coughs with white phlegm for the past few months. Due to the continuous coughing he was unable to sleep at night.  He came to seek our help. We prescribed him the teas for his lung cancer besides giving him our Cough #5 and #11. He came back three weeks later and reported that he had no more coughs.

Seven Cough Herbs Formulated by CA Care

Today, at CA Care we have the following herbal teas for coughs.

Cough No. 1 is for dry, long standing coughs with little phlegm. Sometimes the sputum can be blood-tinged. There is dryness in the mouth and throat and feverish sensations in the palms and soles.

Cough No. 3 is for coughs producing thick, sticky yellow phlegm. Sometimes, the patient may feel fullness in the chest, has shortness of breath and may experience nausea or vomiting.

Cough No. 5 is for coughs producing thick, sticky, white phlegm. There may be fullness in the chest, nausea or headache and dizziness.

Cough No. 6 is generally for elderly persons who have productive coughs with shortness of breath, chest upset or indigestion. The sputum is whitish and foamy.

Cough No. 10 is for dry or unproductive coughs.

Cough No. 11 is for non-productive coughs with an itchy feeling in the throat. The patient is with or without chill or fever.

Cough No. 12 is for those with phlegm that seems to be stuck in the throat and is difficult to expectorate.

In the above video, you will note that the audience listening to my talk at the Singapore General Hospital laughed when I referred to our cough herbs by a number! No, we did not give fancy names to them – different from the pharmaceuticals, ya?

A point of curiosity: Why numbers 1, 3, 5, 6 etc. for our cough herbs? No number 2, 4 or 7? What happened to those missing numbers?  So far in my 16 years here, no one is curious enough to ask me that question! But there was one patient who asked me why our breast herbs were called L and M – and no S. He was having the impression that Breast L is for patients with large breast and M for medium-sized breast. So what happen to those with S(mall) breast? The truth is, M = metastasis (for those after mastectomy) and L = Lump (for those who have not gone for surgery yet).

We have actually formulated 12 herbal mixtures for coughs – 1, 2, 3, 4 … 12. Over time only cough numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12 have proven to be effective.  Cough No: 2, 4, 7, 8 etc. were not so effective and were therefore “dropped out.”

So, who can say that the cough herbs that we now have are not proven?

Cervical Cancer, Stage 1B spread to her lungs and liver. She was given three to six months to live

Melisa (a61) was a 44-year old lady.

1997. Melisa’s problem started when she had severe pains in the shoulder muscles. At night she had muscle cramps in the legs. She went to see a doctor who told her that nothing was wrong and that she had been working too hard. She should take a holiday and relax. Some months later she did her annual pap smear. Her doctor said everything was alright.

A few months later, she suffered severe, heavy bleeding. The blood discharge had clots and it flowed out rather suddenly and wet the entire floor of the bathroom.

October 1998.  She went to see a gynaecologist at a private hospital. A biopsy confirmed she had cancer. She underwent a hysterectomy. The pathology report dated 2 October 1998 stated the following:

Hysterectomy specimen: uterus and cervix including short vaginal cuff and parametrium together with both appendages weighing in toto 160 grams.

The cervix showed a whitish fleshy friable tumour invading almost the entire length and thickness of its wall measuring 5 x 2 x 1.5 cm. The ectocervix and lower uterine segment were also found to be invaded. The vaginal cuff and parametrium were grossly free from any tumour invasion.

Interpretation: 1. Adenosquamous cell carcinoma of cervix with micrcoscopic  invasion of parametrium but vaginal cuff was clear. Figo Stage 1b.  2. Metastatic involvement of one left internal iliac node.

Remark: altogether twelve right pelvic node and eight left pelvic nodes were received.

After the operation, she underwent radiation treatments in a hospital in Penang. She suffered badly from the radiotherapy. Barely two months afterwards, Melisa ended up having to go in and out of the hospital due to pains, fevers and high temperatures. Later, a scan showed that there was pus in her abdomen. The doctor extracted out the pus. She was well for a while. Then, a scan revealed that the cancer had spread to her lungs and liver.

Melisa ended up in a hospital in Singapore – in search for a cure. The doctor at first suggested that she underwent a liver surgery to remove the infected parts. Melisa reasoned out how surgery could have helped her when the entire liver and lungs were infected with cancer? She declined surgery but went ahead with chemotherapy. The first shot of chemotherapy was tolerable but the second and third cycles were really bad. She preferred to die rather than complete the entire regimen.

One of her employee told Melisa to seek the help of a Dr.Teo. On 19 March 2000, Melisa came to see us.  At that time she could hardly walk.

We requested to have an interview with Melisa so that we can share her healing experience with others. She agreed. On 14 June 2001 at 4 p.m. a video-taped interview was conducted. Let Melisa herself tell you of her healing experience.

Tell us about your experience of radiotherapy that you had in Penang.

I underwent 25 times of radiation treatment and one session of “internal treatment”. For this internal treatment, three long probes were inserted into me and I had to lie on the bed for 72 hours in a special room – immobilised. During that treatment the doctor visited me once. This was an experience that I would not wish to go through again.

I suffered badly from the radiation treatments. I had sore mouth, was constipated and the anus bled. Sometimes I had diarrhoea. I felt like having a fire inside me. I could not eat or sleep. I vomited. Every morning when I woke up, I dread the thought of having to go through the radiation treatment again.

After the radiotherapy, were you cured or did you feel better?

No. Barely two months past, I spent time in and out of the hospital. I had pains, fevers and high temperatures. The doctor did not know exactly what was wrong with me. Then later, another doctor in the same hospital took a scan and detected that I had pus in my abdomen. I was hospitalised for eight days and the doctor extracted out some 600 ml of pus from my abdomen. He did it three times. Then I was alright.  A few months later, during a follow-up visit, a scan showed that the cancer had spread to both my liver and the lungs.

What did the doctor say about the cancer that had spread? How serious was it?

The doctor told me that both these organs had numerous dots and at least thirty spots were visible. They were the sizes of five, ten and twenty cents coins.

There was nothing the gynaecologist could do for me. I went to consult a doctor at the cancer hospital. He told me that I could do chemotherapy as a palliative measure but in my case there was no hope for a cure. This was the last stage cancer. I was told to go and make out my will.  My gynaecologist was a nice person – he tried to find doctors elsewhere for me to proceed further with my treatments. At last, I landed in Singapore.

Tell us about your treatment in Singapore.

The oncologist at first suggested that I had surgery to remove those infected parts. On consultation with my Penang doctor, I asked the oncologist how surgery could remove all those spots in the liver. The oncologist replied: Who is the cancer doctor, I or your doctor in Penang? I refused to have the surgery but agreed to go along with chemotherapy.

Before doing the chemotherapy, were you told what this treatment is all about? The side effects and benefits.

No. I had all along believed that the treatment was to kill and get rid of the cancer cells. I was not told that the treatments would be difficult and I had to suffer such side effects. The doctor did not carry out any further test or diagnosis. The appointment was fixed and chemotherapy started the next day “otherwise the cancer cells would spread more” (that was what the doctor told me). I was scheduled to do six cycles divided into 12 shots, i.e. 2 injections represent one cycle. I did not know what drugs were used on me.

(It is indeed most regrettable that Melisa was not able to produce the scan of her metastatic condition. Her Singapore oncologist kept the medical report and scan films. She requested that these be returned to her. Unfortunately, the oncologist refused telling Melisa that she had not completed her chemo-treatments and that he would not be able to return those films and report. This same oncologist also did not disclose the chemo-drugs used on her (many patients also told similar things about this same doctor. This was not an isolated case experienced by Melisa alone).

Point to ponder: The report and films rightly belong to Melisa. She brought them along to Singapore. How could it become the property of the oncologist? Why did the doctor want to keep her record? We wonder if such conduct is humane/ethical or what? Informed consent means that the doctor is supposed to explain the consequences of the treatment plan to their patients – telling them of both the good and the bad).

Tell us what was it like to be on chemotherapy?

It is very difficult to put in words the sufferings I had to endure.

The first chemo-short was tolerable. I felt sleepy, tired and groggy. I did not vomit but I could not sleep.

The second and third shots were really bad. Everything seemed not right. Sitting down was also not right, standing up was also not right. I could not sleep. In whatever position I was in, I just did not feel right. I could not eat. I felt something was blocked in the chest. The stomach felt bloated and there was wind trying to push out. Sometime I vomited.  It was difficult to breathe. My hair dropped off every time I bathe and it blocked the drainage hole of the bathroom. When I stood up I felt like falling down. I could not get into the car – felt giddy and the world spinning around me.

Under such a situation I felt I would rather die. Remaining alive had no meaning any more.

Having got to go through that agony, what did the doctor say about the chances of your cure?

He said it all depends on me. He did not know what my chance was. He said I should be lucky if I could live for three to six months. If I survive then he would give me more chemos. I came to understand that I was given chemo to prolong my life for three to six months. The doctor also told me that if I die I would not die in pain if I had chemotherapy.

(Point to ponder:  Chemotherapy was given to Melisa  just to prolong her life for three to six months? And when she dies, she is NOT supposed to die in pain, if she had chemotherapy. Right? Is that logical? What about the sufferings she had to endure while on chemotherapy? Also, if she survived – she would need to have more chemos? Where is the cure? When is the chemotherapy going to stop – when she dies?)

How much did it cost you to get your treatment?

One shot of chemotherapy (given over two times) cost me S$6000, i.e. RM 12,000. In addition I have to pay for other costs – like blood test, hospital, hotel, travel etc. So, all in all, each visit to the hospital cost me about RM 15,000 to 20,000.

After all these sufferings and expenses, did your health improved?

No. I was not better at all. I felt miserable. I could not work. I could not do what I like. I had to stay home. I could not even walk out to the gate of my house for lack of strength.  I could not sleep and I could not stand up for long. I felt heaty inside. When I put on the air-con full blast, my head felt cold. When I put off the air-cond, I felt I was on fire. In the middle of the night I stood or sat by the window looking out into the darkness and felt the cool air. I wondered if life is worth living. Life has no more meaning – to be alive like this. I knew I was dying.

Did you gave up chemotherapy?

No. Not yet. Then, one nice worker of mine, who worked in the factory came and told me about CA Care which is right in Penang and which I did not even know about.  Since I have NO other avenues  – To do chemo also die, not to do chemo also die  – I then decided to come and see you.

What happened after you came to see us and took the herbs? This is what happened after I took the herbs that you prescribed.

The first day, nothing spectacular happened. I only started to urinate a lot and felt a bit better. The urine was smelly. Before the herbs the urine was always heaty.

The second day on the herbs, I vomited. Anyway, I kept telling myself. This was to get rid of something in me. I still urinated a lot.

The third day was great. I felt the muscle in the neck had loosened up. I was able to put on my dress and went to my office. Before the herbs I was not able to go to my office. Also I was not able to sit in the car. Now I could do all these. Even my office worker was surprised and asked me if I was already well. I felt elated and confidence grew within me. I knew I was on the right path to healing.  From that day on I felt better and better.

Then, did you continue with your chemotherapy?

I felt better with the herbs. I was in a dilemma – not sure if I should continue with the chemotherapy or not. I asked your opinion but you (Dr. Teo) were non-committal. I went to consult my gynaecologist and seek for more information. It was then that I learnt that chemo-drugs are actually poisons. They not only kill the cancer cells, but also kill the good cells and may destroy the vital organs in my body. All along I thought that chemo-drugs kill only the cancer cells and they would cure me. If this was what it is, I reasoned that all these treatments would damage the organs in my body. How could my body recover from the cancer? I could NOT sleep the whole night and was unsure of what to do. My husband also told me that I had to make up my own mind and decide for myself. At last, I came to the decision NOT to continue with the chemotherapy.

When you decided to stop the chemotherapy – were you under pressure to change this decision? Yes. Many people said many things to me. The problem is that all these comments came from people who NEVER experience the sufferings – they did not know what it was like to suffer from those chemo-drugs. Then the nurse from the Singapore oncologist called me THREE times asking me to come back and complete my treatments. In addition, the oncologist personally talked to me TWICE over the phone telling me to come and complete the treatment. They told me that it would be dangerous if I did not complete the treatment. However, I was firm in my decision. In the last conversation with the oncologist, I told him that I have NO MORE MONEY to pay for the treatments. With that, no more calls came from his office. My ploy to get him off my back worked!

After you gave up chemotherapy and were on the herbs – did you take any other herbs as well?

No. I was firm with this. There were many kind-hearted and well meaning people who came and told me about who is good or what is good for me. I listened to them but I was firm on taking your herbs only. Some people commented that I have been taking the herbs for so long and I should change them for something else. There is no reason to. The herbs helped me and l kept taking them.

Now, Melisa – you have been on the herbs for about 1 year 3 months now. Did you at any one time experience any difficulty?

No. I felt better with each day. Before I had cancer I was very active – running around like a horse. Then when I was sick I could not do anything – could not even walk to the toilet. Now, I am back to almost normal like I was before – running around again like the same horse before. I drove by myself to Johor Baru, Kelantan, Trengganu, etc. I flew to Hong Kong. I drove my four-wheel drive into the hills. I visited my durian plantation. I played golf and carried my own golf bag. I worked in my factory and office from morning till night. I felt normal and I did not worry about my illness at all. I know I am alright now.

Did you go back to see your doctor for any check up?

No. I used to meet my doctor and he asked me to go back to the hospital and do a scan every six months. He also called me in the office. I said, yes, yes and smiled. Once, I asked my doctor: what would you do if the scan shows that I have a tumour inside me? He said, well go for chemotherapy. No, another chemotherapy is not the answer for me.

Melisa, tell us what do you think is the secret of your healing success?

I believe three factors had contributed to my healing. One – 30 percent was due to my full confidence and faith in the healer. If I have difficulty and if it concerned medical procedures, I went to see my gynaecologist and if I have problems related to my cancer I come to see you (Dr.Teo).

Two – 50 percent, was due to the herbs. They helped me from day one of my taking them. I felt the effects almost immediately. From day three I was able to go to my office. From then on I knew that the herbs were good and right for me. I have no doubt about that.

Three – 20 percent was due to my mental attitude. After I came and see you I knew that I have found my way to healing. I was happy and I did not worry any more. I took life positively. I became well. I look forward to living another 20 years and more. For now, I am hoping to build up my company – bigger and bigger. And I shall continue to take the herbs without fail. In fact, I need to tell you this. I took the capsules A and B five times a day instead of three. I kept the herbs in the office, in the car and by my bed. I took the teas using ten spoonfuls instead of six spoonfuls as you told me to take. I took MORE herbs and never less. Some friends said that the herbs were smelly, tasted so awful and I should look out for better alternatives. I must say I should thank the herbs for helping me. In fact, I figured that I hope to be able to take the herbs for the next twenty years or more. I have my hope.  I have my vision and my dreams. I know where I am going.

Melisa related to us two interesting episodes.

A nurse in the gynaecologist’s office called Melisa’s office one day. She discretely asked the operator if Melisa was still alive. Her staff replied that her boss was still around and had gone to Hong Kong. The nurse asked if she went to Hong Kong for medical treatment. No, no….on business.

Melisa told us that many of her friends never believed that she had cancer in the first place! On day, one medical doctor came into her office and asked her husband if there was a lady in his office who had cancer and was supposed to die but had recovered instead. Her husband said it was his wife. At the time Melisa walked into the office and the doctor burst out: Who said that people who had cancer need to die?

Comments

We rejoice in this healing. We pray that God will show Melisa His grace and blessing for many more years to come.

It was with sadness that about two years later, Melisa’s urinary track failed and she had stents installed. She was told that this was caused by her earlier radiation treatment.  Then her husband found another woman and this led to a divorce. Melisa died soon afterwards.

Utero-Ovary-Lung Cancer, Part 3: A Miracle Happened: An Interview with Her Daughter and Her Brother

Acknowledgment: Permission to use videos and pictures without having to mask the patient’s face is granted by the family.

Gist of our conversation

  1. Two days after her return from receiving chemotherapy in Singapore, RJ started to cough and she had fevers. She lacked strength. She was hospitalized in Methodist Hospital in Medan. At that time RJ was still able to walk by herself.
  2. Later her haemoglobin and platelet dropped and she had a blood transfusion. Eight packets of blood were given to her.
  3. After three or four days in the hospital, she was not able to walk. She had no strength.
  4. Suddenly she became breathless. X-ray indicated fluid in her lungs. The doctor tapped out the fluid using a syringe. The first tapping consisted of 19 withdrawals of 60 ml each. X-ray indicated there was still more fluid in the lung.
  5. A second tapping was done – consisting of 12 withdrawals of 60 ml each.
  6. Even after the pleural tapping, RJ still had to use oxygen for breathing.
  7. Before the pleural tapping, RJ was breathless and was on oxygen but at this point in time she did not gasp for air. After the first pleural tapping – the breathing was the same. But after the second tapping, her breathing became heavy and she was gasping for air.
  8. On 15 December 2011, her daughter started to give her CA Care herbs. Capsule A, Lung 1 + Lung Phlegm and Lung 2 + Lung Phlegm.
  9. From 15 December 2011 onwards, RJ was only on CA Care’s herbs. Her daughter kept aside all doctor’s medication.  This was done without the knowledge of the doctor or the nurses in the hospital.
  10. After taking the herbs, RJ started to discharge a lot of phlegm. In addition she moved her bowels very often and discharged a lot of stools. The first bowel movement had some traces of blood. After that it was normal – no blood.
  11. By 17 December (three days on herbs) RJ was able to breathe normally. There was no need to use oxygen anymore. She was also able to recognize people around her.  Before this she was not able to recognize the family memebrs around her.
  12. Even though she was on oxygen, RL was still gasping for air.
  13. After taking Cough 5 tea for two days, RJ did not cough anymore. Before this she was coughing very badly. So with no cough her breathing became normal.
  14. An X-ray indicated the lung had improved.
  15. After the herbs started to help RJ, the daughter began to gradually reduce the flow of oxygen in the tube.  This was done without the knowledge of the doctor or nurses. She even told the doctor, “Let me take charge of the situation.” The doctor responded, “You become your own doctor.”
  16. On 17 December 2011, the doctor told the family to go home and pray. The cancer had already spread   throughout the body. The daughter said, “At that time mother was really in terrible condition. She was gasping for breath, her eyes rolled upwards and she was not able to recognise any one of us. I had to dig into her mouth to open it and she bit me.”
  17.  All the family members from different parts of Indonesia flew home to be with RJ.
  18. On 18 December 2011, the situation improved. The oxygen supply to the tube was totally cut off. RJ did not need any more oxygen.  The doctor came in and said, “It is a miracle. Now you can go quickly to Penang.”
  19. RJ was discharged from the hospital on 19 December 2011, and the next day, she and her family flew to Penang.

We asked her daughter, “Did your mother really benefit from the herbs?”

She replied, “Now there is a vast difference in my mother’s condition. She had improved so much. She is beginning to have more strength and was able to move by herself. Even on the first day we came here, 20 December and now – two days later, there are a lot of improvements. The only problem she has now is the pain in her stomach.” (Note: this stomach pain was gone after the e-Therapy!).

Metastatic Breast Cancer: From Despair to Hope and from Hope to Healing

Medical history

This patient was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her bones. She went to China for treatment – using chemotherapy, cryoablation and radioactive seeding  In 2008, she went to China thrice, in 2009, twice and in 2010 once.  These treatments did not cure her. Since February 2011, she was unable to walk. The left leg was in pain and swollen. Two months later she had surgery for her leg. But her pains persisted.

In late September 2011, she had pains in her abdomen and was hospitalized. Her family refused further medical treatment. Then they learned about CA Care through another patient (see her case) https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2011/09/10/lung-brain-cancer-an-impossible-healing-1-hope-after-a-disaster-%E2%80%93-when-iressa-tarceva-forty-cycles-of-chemo-and-sutent-did-not-cure-her/

Without hesitation, the patient’s husband and daughter-in-law brought her to seek our help the next day,  9 October 2011.

From Despair to Hope

She was wheel chair bound. She had to be carried up into the airplane. She was unable to stand up by herself. She was unable to sleep and had pains in her legs throughout the day and night. After five days on the e-Therapy and herbs, her conditions improved.  Her despair turned into hope!  On 26 October 2011, her daughter-in-law called to say that the patient (at home in Jakarta) was able to walk by herself with the help of a walking stick. On the day when she returned home, she was able to walk slowly into the airplane – no need to be carried into the plane like the day she came to Penang. Read her full story: https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2011/10/23/breast-cancer-from-despair-to-hope-in-five-days/

From Hope to Healing

About two months later, 7 December 2011, patient and her husband and daughter-in-law came back to see us again. Patient had improved tremendously. She was able to stand up and walk slowly by herself. She was able to talk and smile. Indeed a big contrast from the previous visit when everybody was serious, grim and full of anticipation. This second visit was full of smile and laughter – very relaxed.  The only concerns patient has now are the discomforts of her right leg and her lack of strength when walking.

An Acugraph reading showed that her qi level was only 19% (very low). We prescribed her the Energy Tea. After three days on this herbal tea, her qi increased to 31% (see figure below).

Patient also underwent the e-Therapy. The discomforts improved slightly after the treatment. Watch this video and see the unfolding of healing process.

This is a brief transcription of our video conversation.

7 December 2011

She stood up and slowly walked by herself. It was wonderful!

Chris:  After you went home, I did not know what had happened to you. I only hoped that your condition did not drop (deteriorate).

Daughter-in-law:  Her health improved further.

When going into the airplane, could she walk by herself?

DIL: Yes, she walked by her herself (Note: two months ago, she had to be carried into the plane).

Okay, what is her main problem now?

DIL:  Pain in the legs – everyday and throughout the day. At night the pains becomes more intense. It is a kind of sore pain.

The first time she came, she had abdominal pain?

DIL: That is gone now – no more pain.

After you went home – that is already two months now – is her condition getting better or worse?

DIL: Yes better – getting to be normal. Now it is only this leg pain that is troubling her – otherwise she is okay. No headache or dizziness, able to sleep well – if there is no pain.

She is still staying in Jakarta?

DIL: No, she went home to Kalimantan for the past five weeks.  She just came to Jakarta a few days ago to come to Penang.

Ibu, when you return to your hometown – you got to meet your friends – what did they say?

(Laugh!) Very good.

Happy to see your friends and relatives again?

(Nodding and smiling).

11 December 2011

Okay (after three days on the e-Therapy and herbs) what is the problem now?

DIL: Only her right leg. Now (9 pm) she has no pain but later into the night (after 10 pm) she starts to feel the pain – but the time is not fixed – depends. She also feels the pain in the day time but it is not as intense as at night.

On Wednesday (7 December) we did the e-Therapy.  After that you said there was less pain. We continue with the e-Therapy – she felt better.

DIL: Yes – a bit better – able to sleep until the next morning.

When she goes to sleep, does the pain come on again?

DIL: No.

We are talking now (9 pm) and you said she has no pain – when is she going to feel the pain?

DIL: When she has nothing to do at night she begins to feel the pain. If she goes around anywhere, she has no pain (Husband laughed!).

Where she is not doing anything she feels the pain – how long does the pain last?

DIL: Until she feels sleepy and falls asleep. For example the pain starts at 10 pm – it drags on until 12 mid-night or 1 am. Then she falls asleep. No more pain and she goes to sleep the whole night.

What did you do when she had pain?

Husband: Massaged her leg.

Ibu, did you have any problem drinking the herbal tea?

No problem.

Oh, other patients often complained – they felt nauseous or even vomited.

DIL: Mama wanted to k now how long has she got to be on the herbs?

Ha, ha, until you can run around! Why did you ask that question? Are you tired or fed-up of taking the herbs?

DIL: No, no, just wanting to know.

Okay, let me ask you this – before you came to see me and started to take the herbs – and now that you are on the herbs – has you conditions improved?

I felt great – more comfortable!

Now that you are better – do you want to stop taking the herbs? Let’s say I tell you now to stop taking the herbs – do you want to do that?

Oh, no,no, (waving her hand in disagreement). I would not do that.

So my advice is – relax and take it easy. Continue taking the herbs. It is only two months.

DIL: There is a vast improvements.

Let me ask you again. After coming back from China and after the surgery in Jakarta – you did not seek any more medical treatment because these did not cure you. Tell me how did you feel after that – what did your heart say? That is before you came to CA Care.

DIL: We were lost and helpless, not knowing what else to do or where else to go to. We went to see many doctors – bone doctor, cancer doctor, etc., etc., we felt we did not find the “real” doctor who could effectively help her.

At that time, did you feel you wanted to give up>

DIL: Yes, we did not know who else to go to for help. Then a friend of a friend told us about a patient who came to CA Care lately. She was “healed” by your therapy. We called her husband and went to meet him in his office. Two days later, we flew to Penang to see you.

When you heard of that healing story, did you believe what the man, Mr. Tukiman, had told you? You really believe his story?

DIL: Yes, we bought the plane tickets and flew to see you two days later!

Did you really believe what Tukiman said?

DIL: sure, we believed all what he told us.

Husband: Nodding and nodding.

Bapak, you too went to meet Tikuman and you believed what he told you. You were not afraid he was just bluffing you?

(Ha, ha, everybody laughed!).

When you first arrived at our Centre – saw what we did to others. Did you really believe what we were doing?

Husband: Nodding. Yes, I believed.

Okay Ibu, you took the herbs and you got better. At home can you play with your grandchildren now?

Yes, can play with them now.

Before the herbs, could you play with your grandchildren?

DIL: She remained confined to her bedroom.

But now can you walk around.

DIL: Yes, she walked around in the house.

Now, is there hope?

(Everybody laughed!)

Wonderful, wonderful.  I feel very happy for you.

DIL: Look at her face. She had improved a lot.

Now you have found the  right path. You know how to take care of yourself. Go home and don’t get lost again.

From Hepatitis to Liver Cancer: Nexavar for Free – No Thanks

Sonny (not real name) is a 59-year-old male. He was diagnosed with Hepatitis B about five years. He opted for herbal treatment from Taiwan. After six months, his alpha-fetoprotein increased further indicating it was not effective. Nevertheless he continued to take the Taiwanese herbs up to this day.  About three years ago he went to see a doctor and was prescribed Lamivudine and ever since he has been taking both Lamivudine and the Taiwanese herbs.

In September 2011 Sonny had bloated stomach and lost his strength. An ultrasound of his abdomen indicated liver cancer. On 30 July 2011, his alkaline phosphatase was at 224, AST = 79 and GGT = 354 (all these values are beyond normal range). He was told by the doctor that he had an incurable, terminal stage liver cancer. He probably has two months to live or at most six to eight months. Before he dies he would vomit blood.

Sonny went to Singapore for a second opinion. A CT scan on 4 October 2011 showed a 14 x 12 x 12 cm tumour  in the caudate lobe. There was also a 3.8 x 3.4 x 2.4 cm nodule in Segment 2 of his liver. There was tumour thromhus demonstated in the right portal branch and the main portal view. Thrombus was also seen in the proximal left portal branch. In addition he had liver cirrhosis with mild splenomegaly and moderate ascites.

Blood test on 4 October 2011 showed elevated alkaline phosphate = 315, AST = 164, ALT = 73 and GGT  = 614.

His tumour markers, however, were within normal range – AFP 14.7, CEA 0.8 and CA 19.9 27.2.

There was nothing the doctor in Singapore could do for him. He was offered oral chemo drug, Nexavar which cost S$10,000 per month. He was told this would not cure him but could prolong his life for two months. However, the Malaysian doctor who first saw him did not recommend Nexavar because of its severe side effects.

Sonny then went to the University hospital in Singapore for another opinion. There was nothing more that could be done. Since the University is currently carrying out a clinical trial on Nexavar, Sonny was offered to take this drug for free. He said no thanks to this offer of free Nevaxar – listen to what he has got to say in the video below.

Lung Cancer: Surgery, No Chemo But On Herbs – CEA Elevated After Bad Diet

Jan (M471) is a 55-year-old male from Indonesia.  He is an ex-smoker of 40 plus years. Sometime in mid-2008 he had coughs. There was no blood in his sputum. He went to Melaka for a checkup. A CT scan indicated cancer of the lung. Not satisfied he came to Penang for a second opinion.

A colonoscopy, done on 20 September 2008, indicated haemorrhoids and presence of polyps in the colon and rectum. Biopsy of the colonic polyp indicated tubular adenoma associated with moderate dysplasia, while the polyp from rectum was hyperplastic.

CT scan of the thorax indicated a small irregular 1.7 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm nodule. The paratracheal, carinal and right hilar lymph nodes were enlarged ranging from 1 to 3 cm.  Impression: Features are suspicious of underlying early carcinoma of lung.

Jan underwent an operation to remove the tumour in his lung. He was told he had a 85 to 90 percent of cure if he had surgery. Histopathology report confirmed a moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, pT1N1Mx, Stage 2A. Surgical margins were free of malignancy. The total cost of his medical treatment came to about RM 35,000.

Jan was asked to undergo chemotherapy. He refused and came to seek our help on 8 October 2008. He was prescribed Capsule A, C-tea, Lung 1 and Lung 2 tea and GI 1 tea.

About a month later, 14 November 2008, Jan came back to see us again. He said he felt healthier and his sleep was better. He was asked to undergo chemotherapy. The doctor said chemotherapy can cure him. He declined.

Jan is from a small town in Sumatera. It is a long travel to come to Penang from his home. From home he has to take a 3-hour-bus-ride to a town where he would have to take another 24-hour-bus-ride to Medan. From Medan he has to fly to Penang. In spite of this long journey, Jan come to see us regularly.  On most visits to us, Jan said he was well and healthy with no complaints. His CEA decreased from the initial 133.66 (before surgery) to 27.6 (after two years on herbs). However, on 21 October 2010, Jan was jolted by the sudden rise of his CEA from 27.6 to 83.12 (See table). We were disappointed too. What had gone wrong? From experience we could roughly guess the answer. We asked him, “What did you eat wrong these past month?”

Bad diet – ate meat, fried food and tau sar paw
4 Dec 2010

Jan admitted that since he was doing fine, he did not keep to his diet very well. He ate the food that we asked him to avoid such as meat, fried food and “tau sar pow” (bun made form sweet beans boiled in pork lard). He used corn oil for his cooking instead of coconut oil. We explained to Jan we did not know the cause of the rise in his CEA – it could be due to the problem of his colon since he had polyps or it could be due to his lungs. Anyway, the only option is to go back to his good diet again. Jan promised to do just that. About a month later, the CEA dropped to 75.58 only to increase again to 93.97 in March 2011. However, in August 2011 his CEA was down to 57.9. With this decrease Jan seemed to believe that diet is important for his wellbeing.

Overall, Jan’s health was alright. It has been three years since his lung surgery. And he declined chemotherapy and opted for herbs instead. Up to this day, he is able to eat, sleep and do his routine activities without any problem. It did not matter if the CEA was at 93.97 or 57.9 – these numbers did not make any difference in terms of his wellbeing. In short, his quality of life has been maintained through his cancer journey, minus the chemo of course.

Acugraph Study

The AcuGraph taken on 26 August 2011 showed improvements – a more balanced meridian reading compared to the one take on 22 October 2010 (below).

Some questions for you to reflect on:

  1. After surgery Jan refused to undergo chemotherapy in spite of being asked to do so by his doctor. What happened to him now? What could have happened if he was to undergo chemotherapy? Will he be as well as he is today?
  2. After the surgery, his CEA dropped from 133 to 51 and then to 27 – and he was only on herbs and “good” diet. Do you believe that herbs and diet are effective in keeping his cancer at bay? Or do you prefer toxic drugs to do the job?
  3. Jan started to take “bad” food after two years of being in good health. His CEA shot up to 83. He realized his mistake and started to go on his “good” diet again. After six months his CEA went down to 58. Do you still insist that cancer patients can eat anything they like and that food has nothing to do with cancer progression and/or recurrence?
  4. From October 2010 to March 2011, Jan’s CEA hovered around 76 to 94. In spite of that he felt well. His wellbeing was not affected by either a high or low CEA.  What does this tell you? Learn to live with your cancer! Don’t let the lab test numbers make you sick!

Pancreatic Cancer: Severe Itch Disappeared and Health Improved After Herbs and the e-Therapy

Bak (M952) is a 56-year-old male from Indonesia. Sometime in November 2010, he complained of itchiness but he did nothing about it. In April 2011, he went for a checkup in a hospital in Aceh, North Sumatera. He was told there was a tumour in his bile duct. On 8 April 2011, he came to Penang for further checkup. CT scan of his abdomen and pelvis indicated the following:

  • A rounded hypodense lesion seen in mid-transverse colon measuring 10.5 x 21.3 mm. The doctor was unsure of what it was polyp ?
  • Pancreatic head and uncinate process carcinoma with distal CBD (common biliary duct) obstruction.
  • Left inguinoscrotal hernia.

His liver function results on 8 April 2011 are as follows:

Bak was asked to undergo an operation for his pancreatic cancer. He declined, but he opted for ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). This is a specialized technique to clear off the bile duct obstruction. Three plastic stents (tube) were installed to help with the flow of the bile. The total cost of hospitalization came to RM 4300.

After this procedure, Bak was asked to undergo chemotherapy. He refused. Instead, on 10 April 2011, he came to seek our help. He presented with the following:

  • Severe itch throughout the whole body
  • No appetite
  • Fevers, unable to sleep
  • Diarrhoea
  • Yellow urine

We had no choice but to put Bak on the e-Therapy hoping to help him with the itchiness. After one session of the e-Therapy, the itchiness was reduced. After two sessions, his itch was reduced by 50 percent. After four sessions of the e-Therapy his itch was totally gone. Bak had fevers. We prescribed him with Appetite & Fever tea. After taking a glass of this tea, his fevers were resolved. Then he went home to Aceh.

On 7 July 2011, Bak came back to see us again. He said for the past two weeks, he started to itch again. It came on and off and affected the palms, elbows and feet.  We were not able to put him of the e-Therapy because he had to go home the next day.

On 5 October 2011, Bak showed up at our centre again. This time he came specifically for the e-Therapy. Bak said that since taking the herbs in April 2011, his health had improved. He felt more comfortable, his sleep was better and he felt more energetic. Previously he had to wake up 4 to 5 times a night to urinate. After taking the A-Kid-6 tea his urination frequency has reduced to only once a night. He started to itch again but this was not as serious as before the e-Therapy. Before the e-Therapy the whole body was itchy and he had to scratch until the skin bled. Now the itch was confined to his elbows and feet only.

A blood test was done on 5 October 2011. The results showed improvements in his GGT, AST and CA 19.9 (Table,   Column 3).  Bak underwent the e-Therapy again from 5 October to 11 October 2011. After two sessions, the itch reduced by about 50 percent. By 10 October 2011, six days on the e-Therapy, the itch was almost totally gone. What remained were the itches on his finger tips.

Over the past six months since taking the herbs, his health had improved, his sleep was good and so was his appetite. The e-Therapy had helped tremendously with his itchiness.

The video clip below documented his progress with the e-Therapy.

Dissecting Chemotherapy 11: No Chemo for Dad’s Liver Cancer – Wisdom of a Daughter

Daughter: My father was diagnosed with liver cancer in August 2011.

The doctor wanted him to do chemotherapy. We did not allow him to do so. I argued with the doctor.

The doctor did not get angry with you? Yes, he was but I did not bother. Since we did not want to go for chemo (injection) he was asked to take an oral drug for his liver. This cost RM 20,000 per month.

Wait, wait. Let’s start from the very beginning. Actually what happened and when? D: My father had winds in his stomach. This was in August 2011. He consulted a doctor who told him that he had a gallstone. His liver had some shadows. The doctor then suggested that my father do a CT scan. He went to do a CT scan and the result showed a Stage 2 liver cancer. The doctor suggested chemotherapy. We told the doctor we wanted to go home first and consult with all the members of the family. After that we went to seek a second opinion from a liver specialist.

The Second Opinion – the Liver Specialist

D: The liver specialist studied the CT scan. He also suggested chemotherapy. This time I accompanied my father to consult with this specialist because I did not want him to undergo the chemotherapy. I told the doctor, “We do not want chemotherapy.” When the doctor saw my father, he encouraged him to get admitted into the hospital. He said, “Uncle get admitted immediately and tomorrow we shall start with the chemo.”

I was not happy. The first doctor we consulted with told us that my father had to stop all his heart medications before undergoing chemotherapy. My father had a heart by-pass before. But this liver specialist did not even consider this. He was pushing my father to do chemo quickly. But I refused.

Okay, you refused chemo. What did the doctor say? D: I argued with him. Then I requested that he do another CT scan for my father. So, a second scan was done.

Did you ask the live specialist if chemo can cure your father of his liver cancer? D: Cannot. I asked him, “Doctor, you want to give chemo to my father – can you cure him?” The doctor could not give me an answer. He just kept quiet – no answer. Then he said. “It all depends on the patient himself.”

What ? It now depends on the patient? D: I asked the doctor further – “ You give my father the chemo, what can  happen to him after that?” He answered, “The liver may become hard, the patient becomes yellow (jaundice). And his eyes may become yellow.” I countered the doctor, “Okay doctor, my father currently has no pains, can eat, can sleep, can walk and move his bowels – after the chemo, his health is jeopardised  and he may not be able to do all these – what’s the whole idea?

What did he say to that? D: The liver specialist said, “I have found the best oncologist to do the chemo for your father, do you know that? I have already made the necessary arrangements for your father to do the chemo tomorrow. Now you tell me you don’t want to do it.” But I said, “In the first place, we never ever agreed to undergo chemo.”

But he told you, There is no cure and the patient becomes yellow – why do the chemo then?  D: I eventually told the doctor very bluntly, “My father doesn’t want to do chemo.” My mother also said, “The patient refused chemotherapy.”

How did he respond to that? D: Okay, if the patient did not want chemo, there is nothing we can do.

Did you ask him how much the chemo is going to cost you? D: No, we never get into that. He did not tell us about the cost and also how many cycles of chemo he was going to give.

Assistant to the Liver Specialist:  Patients come in healthy, they go out yellow! Why not try the RM 20,000-per-month oral drug for liver cancer?

D: The second CT scan report was ready after two weeks.  I requested to have a copy of the report so that I can bring it to you (CA Care). I went to the hospital and met the assistant of the liver specialist. He is also a medical doctor – a nice person. I asked him, “From your experience giving chemo to so many patients, how many really do well? This nice and friendly doctor answered, “To tell you the truth, patients come in looking healthy, but they go out looking yellow after the chemo.” This is what the assistant told me. Then the assistant said, “If you don’t want to do chemo, why don’t you take the oral drug instead. “ This drug cost RM 20,000 per month. But I told the doctor, “But doc., this drug has so many severe side effects” (Read this post: Benefit and side effects of Nexavar).

My Friend’s Husband Took the Oral Drug for Liver Cancer, He Vomited Blood and Died Within Two Weeks

D: The doctor replied, “ No, no serious side effects – you only feel itchy and have reddish palms.” I told the doctor, “My friend ‘s husband had liver cancer. He took the oral drug that cost RM 200,000 per month.  He vomited blood and within two weeks was dead.” The doctor went silent. He kept his cool and smiled. The he asked, “If you don’t want to do chemo for your father, what do you want to do then?” I replied, “I am going to bring my father to take herbs.”

What was his response? D: He said, “Go ahead and try it.”

He did not get angry with you?  D: No, he was not angry.

Did you know what is the name of that oral drug? Nexavar? D: I did not take note of that. I only know that it can damage the liver and kidney. I read this on the packaging of the medication.

They Just Want You To Do Chemo – That is the way it is

D: Unfortunately, that is the way it is with doctors today. They just want patients to do chemo. After injecting the chemo into you, the poison is already in the body – if you die, you die. That is your business.

Wife: The doctor told us, my husband is still strong. He will be able to withstand the chemo – he can withstand the chemo. D: No, no, I think he will die.

This is the way our world is now. You need to take care of yourself. You have to be responsible for your own health and wellbeing. If not, it may be like “just jumping into the sea.”
