Allow us to share with you the sad news of the recent demise of a close relative who was diagnosed with breast in December 2011. To us, this is a classic case of a lady who did not die because of the breast cancer – she died due to the breast cancer treatments that she diligently underwent since diagnosis.
This 65-year old lady was a very staunch and caring Christian and very much loved and admired by her siblings, relatives and friends. Perhaps her weak point in her journey with cancer is her unquestioning loyalty to her doctors/oncologist (her son is also a medical doctor). From Day One, she listened very faithfully to her oncologist who advised her not to consume antioxidants, herbs or other complementary treatments as these will “clash” with her chemotherapy and subsequent radiotherapy, and hence the efficacy of her conventional treatments will be compromised.
Briefly, in December 2011, when she was diagnosed with a 3.8 cm lump in her left breast, she was told by an oncologist (in Singapore) that the lump is too big for surgical removal. She was then advised to have at least 8 sessions of chemotherapy “to shrink the tumour” before surgery could be performed. She followed the doctor’s advice and underwent chemotherapy during the whole of 2012 – 6 sessions of EC (Epirubicin + Cyclophosphamide) followed by 5 sessions of docetaxel, which ended in January 2013.
Come January 2013, instead of the tumour shrinking, the condition of her breast became more inflamed, with a few more new lumps appearing at the sides the breast. She was then advised by her hometown oncologist to consider radiotherapy. So she came to KL for that purpose as the radiotherapy machine in her hometown was not working. Whilst in KL she consulted with two prominent breast surgeons, who advised that (as at January 2013), surgery was definitely not an option based on the condition of the breast after 11 sessions of chemotherapy. She subsequently did 33 sessions of radiotherapy from January to March 2013, with the intention of shrinking the five lumps. Again, while she was undergoing radiotherapy she was warned by her oncologist and radiologist not to take any herbs or antioxidants until everything is over. At the end of the 33 sessions she was referred back to her hometown oncologist, with a report that the cancer has metastasized to her bone.
Back in her hometown, her oncologist recommended a new drug, Eribulin, which was only currently available in Singapore (as at April 2013). She flew to Singapore and bought 4 doses of the drug from an oncologist there at the cost of S$8,000 per dose. However, after three jabs, her hometown’s oncologist determined that Eribulin was not suitable for her. He subsequently recommended Cisplatin + Gemzar and she underwent four cycles of this, the last one being around mid-August, after which she was told that further chemotherapy would not work for her. She was totally devastated. However, as some form of hope for her to cling on, she was given oral Xeloda.
All the while during her chemotherapy treatments in 2012, radiotherapy and further chemo in 2013, this tough lady was in pain most of the time and the pain became more and more intense in the months of April through August 2013. From April 2013 her lungs started accumulating fluids…this is usually a confirmation of metastasis to the lungs. In the month of August till her demise on Sunday, 25th August, she had to be on oxygen most of the time (in addition to morphine).
She did try some herbal treatment off and on in between her chemotherapy/radiotherapy sessions in 2013. Obviously this could not help her much as by that time her body was a total wreck. Further, she only changed her diet in 2013. During 2012 she “ate anything she liked” as advised by the oncologist in Singapore and from her hometown.
When I attended her wake on 27th August 2013, the first thing that her eldest son said to me was “Uncle, see – only 19 months!” Of course her oncologist and other doctors attributed this to her triple negative breast cancer which is supposed to be an aggressive form of breast cancer. Anyway, it is always about the cancer being aggressive, and never about the toxicities and ineffectiveness of the conventional cancer treatments which is always marketed and touted as evidence-based, scientifically tested, etc.
Lately, we noticed a new current trend in breast cancer treatment very similar to this case –more and more patients are advised to have pre-surgery chemotherapy – to shrink the lump before surgery. We are very perplexed by this – why do you need to shrink the lump first before surgery when the breast, an “external” organ, can be wholly removed by mastectomy? We know of a lady who recently had a 5 cm lump removed by lumpectomy and is recovering well and she has refused any form of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
This trend of pre-surgery chemotherapy first is a huge business (if you catch my drift) for the medical/cancer establishment. This unfortunate lady paid RM80,000 for the EC and Docetaxel in 2012. Imagine how much the drug companies/and oncologists would make if they can persuade a million ladies to do so annually, world-wide.
It is mind-boggling, and the damage to the body, and the suffering, is also mind-boggling.
Just to conclude, this is the lady’s 19-months timeline summary:
a) December 2011 – diagnosis
b) December 2012 – commenced EC x 6 sessions followed by Docetaxel x 5 sessions
c) January to March 2013 – 33 sessions of radiotherapy + oral cyclosphomide.
d) April/May 2013 – 3 sessions of Eribulin
e) July to August 2013 – 4 sessions of Cisplatin/Gemzar. When Cisplatin/Gemzar was stopped after the 3rd session, she was given Xeloda
f) 25th August 2013 – passed away.
Undoubtedly, she has found peace with the Lord now but you do not have to follow her timeline. Follow Olivia Newton John’s cancer journey….she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, did one year of chemotherapy and complemented her treatments with good nutrition, herbs, homeopathy, acupuncture and practiced meditation and prayer….and Olivia is still very much alive today (22 years later)…..watch out for her more detailed story soon.
Two Friends Died After Medical Treatments: Same Cancer, Same Doctor and Same Hospital.
WC (E112) is a 59-year-old lady. Sometime in December 2012 she discovered a lump in her left breast. A mammogram on 26 April 2013 showed a 2.4 x 3.4 x 5 cm irregular and poorly marginated, hypoechoic mass. The appearance is compatible with carcinoma. Left axillary and left infraclavicular lymphadenopathy noted (size 6 mm – 2.5 cm).
CT scan was done the next day. The result confirmed the presence of a 4.87 x 3.06 cm mass in the left breast with enlarged left axillary lymph nodes. These are suggestive of left breast malignant lesion with lymph nodes metastasis.
On 2 May 2013, WC underwent a mastectomy.
Histology confirmed an infiltrating ductal carcinoma, grade 3, pT3. Three of eight nodes examined are involved with tumour. Surgical margins are not involved. Five of nine nodes axillary nodes are involved with tumour. The tumour is negative for both estrogen and progesterone receptors.
WC was asked to undergo 6 cycles of chemotherapy costing about RM 17,000. In addition she had to undergo 21 times radiation treatment. In preparation for chemotherapy, WC was asked to install a chemo-port which cost RM 3,500. WC declined this.
But WC was facing a huge dilemma. Two of her friends also had breast cancer. They saw the same doctor at the same hospital as she. Both of them had undergone the same treatments which she was asked to undergo. Both of them had died of the treatment. WC knew then that the treatment which she was asked to undergo would not cure her. The daughter was very much against her undergoing this medical treatment.
WC had already paid RM 9,000 as deposit for her radiotherapy. WC’s daughter came to know about CA Care and came to seek our help. She told us that her mother was due to start her radiation treatment the next day but after talking to us, she decided to forgo the treatment.
Based on her medical reports, we prescribed WC Capsule A, C and D, C-tea and Breast M. In view of her lymph node involvement she was also asked to take Lympho 1 and 2.
On 31 May 2013, WC, her husband and daughter came to see us again. WC had started to take the herbs without any problem. During this first encounter with WC, I explained to her that based on the report, the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. She is at a greater risk compared to others. Why is that that she refused to undergo medical treatment since she had already paid a deposit of RM 9,000? In fact, the hospital refunded her only RM 2,500 for defaulting.
Listen to what WC has got to say.
Chris: Your condition is risky. But are you happy with what you want to do?
WC: I am okay.
C: Why don’t you want to go for radiation and chemotherapy?
WC: Two of my friends died. They had breast cancer, went to the same doctor at the same hospital. They did chemo and radiotherapy and they died. I am so afraid. My daughter told me not to go for the medical treatment. If I have to spend money and then I die, I prefer not to do any treatment. Why spend money, suffer and then die?
C: Are these people your friends?
WC: Yes, my own friends. I saw them. They did everything and they were not cured. So why should I spend money and suffer.
C: Let me ask you. If you do the treatment and you die. If you don’t do the treatment and you die. Which one do you prefer?
WC: I say do nothing is better. In the case of one of my friends, the cancer had spread to her bones. In the other, the cancer went to her brain. Doctors don’t tell you all these. They only ask you to do the treatment. They say the treatment is good for you.
C: Don’t you believe them?
WC: I was not sure and did not know what to do. My daughter told me not to go for the treatment.
C: Did you ask if the treatment was going to cure you?
WC: No, I was afraid to ask that. He would scold me for that. When I did not go for the treatment the doctor even called me at home and asked me to come for treatment. He said I must do the treatment.
Husband: I asked and the doctor said he could not give any guarantee.
C: Relax. Take it easy. Perhaps doing nothing could be a better option for you. You have to learn how to take care of yourself. Take care of your diet. Then exercise. And then don’t think too much after that.
WC: Okay. My children are all grown up. I don’t have to worry anymore.
C: That’s a very good attitude.

For sixteen years, since we started CA Care, we too were trying our best to educate people – providing them with information which we thought they need to know. Some people seemed to benefit from our efforts. After reading what we wrote we practise what they know! But for some others, after reading they feel educated but they shy away from doing something for themselves. They prefer to let the “experts” tell them what to do.
In this case, I am really amazed that WC and her family were willing to lose RM 6,500 rather than going ahead with radiotherapy. To some of us, this could have been a foolish decision. When I met WC, the first question I asked was if she was happy with what she was doing. She must be at peace with herself. Did she make a wrong decision? Read what Dr. Susan Love – one of the world’s most outstanding breast cancer surgeon – has got to say:
The file of KT (S346) was on my table. She was a 42-year-old Indonesia lady who had been battling with her breast cancer for about 12 years. I was taking my time wanting to write her story. But today, 29 May 2013, I received this e-mail from her husband.
Dear Madame Beng Im , Dr. Chris Teo, Dengan sedih dan menyesal kami informasikan bahwa KT sudah meninggal dunia Selasa 21May at 02.55 a.m. (early morning). Dan sudah dimakamkan Kamis 23May, at 11 a.m.
Friday, 17 May kesehatan drop, makan dikit/tak ada selera , minum obat herb tea juga tidak mampu. Monday 20 May at night, so weak. We carry to hospital. Dokter said that she was in bad condition, no hope. She just stayed in hospital 1night only. Tuesday 21 May, at 02.55 she was gone / dead. Many thanks for CA Care’s support for my wife.
About two months ago, 22 March 2013, KT and her husband came to seek our help. She stayed in Penang for almost a week. This was her tragic story.
About one and half years after her second child, KT found a 1.8 cm lump in her right breast. On 16 May 2001 a biopsy was performed and confirmed that it was malignant – a ductal carcinoma, positive for estrogen and C-cerb-B2 receptors but negative for progestrone.
On 19 May 2001, KT underwent a lumpectomy at a cancer hospital in Jakarta. It was a Stage 1 cancer. From June to October 2001, KT received 6 cycles of chemotherapy, followed by 25 sessions of radiation treatment in November to December 2001. She was not prescribed any medication.
About three years later, 12 July 2004, the cancer recurred at the previous operation site. A biopsy confirmed it was a ductal carcinoma again. USG and bone scan were performed. No metastasis was detected.
On 21 September 2004, a mastectomy of the right breast was performed at another hospital. And this was followed by 20 radiation treatment. The doctor suggested ovarian ablation and more chemotherapy but KT refused the treatment.
About five years later, in 2009, the operation site developed an open wound with recurrence of cancer around the wound. USG and bone scan on 20 November 2010 did not show any metastasis.
On 3 December 2010, a biopsy was performed of the regrowth and histology indicated lobular carcinoma. The doctor suggested chemotherapy but KT refused the treatment. She did nothing after that.
In June to August 2011, KT went to China for treatment. PET/CT scan showed the wound was 14 x 12 cm and the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, lungs and bone. This was a Stage 4 cancer.
In China, KT received the following treatment:
10 June 2011:
Patient received iodine seeds implantation and cryosurgery in the lung,
Iodine seeds implantation in the axillary fossa metastatic lymph nodes.
17 June 2011: Patient received recurrence tumour resection, dermatoplasty and PDT (photodynamic therapy).
16 July 2011: Patient received re-dermatoplasty in the back ulcerates.
15 June to 23 June 2011: Patient received DC-CIK immunotherapy.
20 September 2011: Patient received re-dermatoplaty in the back ulcerates.
27 September 2011: Patient received iodine seeds implantation in the scapular region and left costal bone.
KT was again asked to undergo chemotherapy. She again refused the treatment. But she agreed to take Tamoxifen.
On her return to Indonesia, KT started to seek out alternative therapies. She tried sour sop leaves, Mahkota dewa, benalu kopi, etc. She also tried radiofrequency jacket.
On 22 March 2013, KT and her husband came to seek our help.

When I saw the picture of her breast, I must say I was terribly upset. How could such a thing happen? The first thing that came to mind was, Was this not a work of a bomoh or quack? After all, too often we read in the newspapers that things like this only happen to patients who go and seek the help of alternative healers. But no, the reality was that she sought medical help from the very beginning after discovering a 1.8 cm lump in her breast. And mind you, it was an early stage cancer – Stage 1. I could not understand how she could end up like this.
What can we learn from this tragic episode? Ask these questions:
Is medical treatment of cancer really that proven or scientific?
When you have cancer – can you really achieve a cure?
What could have happened if she were to take a non-medical route?
Robert G. Wright, founder of the American Anti-Cancer Institute wrote in his book, Killing Cancer Not People:
Slash, Poison, Burn. The Big Three. What you probably don’t know is that they have no possibility of healing your cancer. Let me repeat that. They haveabsolutely no possibility of healing your cancer. They actually cause cancer.
The saddest and most tragic part of all is that we’re not only dying of the “disease” now, we’re dying from the treatments. Cancer cannot be cured with drugs, surgery, chemo or radiation; not now, not ever, not possible.
When it comes to cancer, your doctor / oncologist will fail you.
It is up to you what you want to do with the above statements by Robert Wright. Looking back over the 16 years helping cancer patients, I must say such episode happen often enough. It is NOT unusual or exceptional.
Positive for estrogen and progesterone receptors, highly proliferative activity. Negative for c-erbB-2 oncoprotein.
2. Right breast lump at 3 o’clock, lumpectomy
Diagnosis: Fibroadenoma.
After surgery, Eva received 6 cycles of chemotherapy – 3 cycles using FEC (5FU + epirubicin + cyclophosphamide) and 3 cycles of Taxol. This was done in Hong Kong. She received 30 radiation treatments in Macau. There was no further medication after this.
A follow-up mammogram in 2011 showed everything was clear.
In 2012 (i.e. some 3 years later) Eva started to have back pain. MRI in December 2012 showed some spots in her lumbar.
In January 2013, a PET / CT scan showed extensive bony metastasis. She was prescribed Tamoxifen and Xeloda and pain killers.
After taking Xeloda she was not able to sit down or walk. She had to be hospitalized for a week and given painkiller injection. She was discharged and had to use the wheelchair.
At the end of February 2013, Eva decided to return to her home in Indonesia.
In late March 2013, she consulted an oncologist in Penang. She was told to undergo chemotherapy again using Carboplatin. She has to take an oral drug, Navelbine. She has to undergo six cycles of this treatment and each cycle would cost RM 7,000. In addition she needs a monthly injection of bisphosphonate for her bone. This would cost an addition RM 1,700 per month.
Can the treatment cure her? The oncologist said: Not sure!
Eva refused further medical treatment. Eva and her mother (who also has cancer) came to seek our help on 21 March 2013. She presented severe pain and was unable to sleep at night. Her movements were very restricted.
Her CA 15.3 results over the years showed an increase from 12.7 to 246.1

E-Therapy at CA Care
We really felt sorry for Eva seeing her in such severe pain. We decided that Eva should try the e-therapy right away and requested her to postpone her return home. She needed to stay in Penang for an additional 5 days. And here is her story.
In summary after 2 days on the e-therapy, Eva had less pain and was able to sit up and watch the television for 2 hours. This is something she could not do before. She had to lie down in bed most of the time. With the e-therapy she could sit, walk and move around without much difficulty. We told Eva to come back to Penang for the e-therapy again if her problems recurred.
Danny is a pastor of a church in Singapore. He is 48 years old. Sometime in early August 2011, he had dengue. His right cheek was swollen and his ear was blocked. His problems resolved after hospitalization. However, a PET scan done on 21 October 2011 revealed the following:
FEG-avid right nasopharyngeal mass. There is effacement of the right parapharyngeal space and extension across the midline.
Hypermetabolic right retropharyngeal, right level 2 and 3 adenopathy.
Necrotic enlarged left FDG-avid level 2 adenopathy.
Impression: Right nasopharyngeal tumour. There is also right retropharyngeal adenopathy, left level 2 cervical node and right level 3 node.
A biopsy was performed and confirmed cancer of the nasopharynx, T2N2Mo.
Pastor Danny subsequently underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He successfully completed 33 sessions of radiation but managed to complete only 2 cycles of chemotherapy (scheduled for 6 cycles). The chemo-drug used was cisplatin.
Danny suffered severe side effects of the radiation treatment. In addition, chemotherapy was equally severe. After the first cycle of chemo, he suffered nausea and vomiting and has to be hospitalized. In late December 2011, Danny had to be hospitalized again due to febrile neutopenia (fevers and infection).
When the time was due to Danny to undergo his third cycles of chemo, he decided that he had had enough. He did not want any more chemo.
It was at this stage that we received the following email.
5 January 2012
Hi Chris,
My pastorDanny(fromSingapore) has got nose cancer Stage 3. He has just finished his radio therapy treatment and has 4 more dosages of chemo to go thru.
Last month as I was sharing with my cousin Bobby fromSingapore, he shared that his elderly dad got colon cancer several years ago and undergone your treatment. He has since been well and out of cancer. Bobby mentioned that (Mr. Lee in JB would be able to help). My pastor Derek would like to bring Dannyto your centre for an appointment…. Appreciate your reply.
Shalom. L.
Pastor Danny was subsequently prescribed herbs: Capsule A, NPC 1 and NPC 2, Lympho, Chemo-tea, Radio-tea and Mt. Guava deTox teas and was told to take care of his diet. He benefited from our Therapy. Within a few days he bounced back to ”real” life.
On 26 April 2012, we received an e-mail from Pastor Danny.
Dear Professor Teo,
Thank you very much for turning my medical condition around! Tried calling you to break the good news, but cannot get thru la. I managed to share with Mr. Lee, and he is so happy for me.
My MRI result shows all is normal and EBV blood test shows virus undetectable! Amazing? I am amazed, at NPC stage 3, I just made an U turn from death, and I’m thankful to you and Mr. Lee for the herbs and the amazing Capsule A!
See you in May. Danny.
Medical Reports
28 March 2012 – EBV Quantitative PCR = Undetectable.
30 January 2012 – EBV Quantitative PCR = Undetectable. Less than 715 copies/ ml.
MRI 4 April 2012 – Compared to previous MRI done on 27 February 2011 (note: The date on this report is obviously wrong. It should have been 21 October 2011??).
Interval resolution of nasopharyngeal mass. No evidence of residual disease seen.
Interval decrease in retropharyngeal lymphadenopathy, now within normal by size.
Interval decrease in cervical lymphadenopathy, most are within normal size criteria except for a right upper level 2 which is borderline in size.
Pastor Danny came to see us again in Penang on 12 May 2012 and shared his story. Let him walk you through his cancer journey and share with you some of the darkest hours of his life.
Acknowledgement: Thank you for your permission to share this story without having to hide your real identity.
Part 1: NPC – Treatments and Side Effects
Diagnosed with Stage 3 nose cancer in October 2011 and underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy in November 2011.
Suffered severe side effects of radiation – mouth sore, difficulty swallowing, burnt skin, etc.
At the same time, he received two cycles of chemotherapy. The side effects were worse than radiation and he had to be hospitalized. He was unable to sleep, was in pain and became anxious and depressed. He was put on morphine and as a result suffered constipation and hallucination.
Part 2: Darkest Hours of My Life
The treatment caused much misery. I would rather die – it was miserable and never again!
The diagnosis of Stage 3 cancer meant it was a death sentence. There was only a 30 percent chance (whatever that means!).
There was no hope and no choice. He had to undergo medical treatment because that was the only way to go.
He had to put up a “false front” and behave himself – being a pastor who needed to show a good example.
In this darkest hour of his life, Did you ask God – Why? No, he did not because cancer seemed to be a part of his family. His mother died of nose cancer too – many years ago. Many other members of his family also had nose cancer.
At the lowest ebb of his life, he felt he could not make it and was ready to die. In fact, he sent an sms to a friend requesting what to be done for him if he passed on.
I was just a living thing – existing.
Part 3: Clash of Healing Ways – Modern Medicine Versus Traditional Herbs
He had total belief in modern medicine. That probably was the only “sure” or logical way to “fight” the cancer. He was not open to alternative therapies because he was not sure of them and did not have enough convincing information about them.
He suffered severely from the medical treatment. Many friends around him persuaded him to give up chemo! But he would not listen! He reasoned, If I go for chemo, at least I have a chance! My life is a stake.
At last, a friend managed to break through with the message that herbs from CA Care would be able to help. He was convinced but not enough to totally discard chemotherapy. He still wanted to go for his third cycle of chemo. But somehow the third chemotherapy was deferred and that gave him the chance to start taking CA Care’s herbs.
Three days on the herbs, he bounced back to life. He had more energy to talk to friends and walk and was able to attend church and took morning walk.
With his health back – he thought he had a strong enough base to go for chemotherapy again!
Part 4: The Breakthrough – Cancer in remission!
His desire to continue with chemo had upset many of his friends. You are going better with the herbs, why are you going for chemo again? He told them, You all did not know what I have gone through. I was desperate to get well. I am willing to die to become well.
After a trip to Penang and consultation with Chris – he was satisfied, for we at CA Care would not compel any one to do what he doesn’t want to do or stop anyone from doing what he wants to do. It is your life and you decide what is best for you! My mission is to empower you with adequate, truthful information.
Not under pressure anymore, he decided to stop chemo on his own accord. The next day he went to his oncologist and for the first time told her the he was taking CA Care’s herbs and he would not want to continue with further chemotherapy. To his surprise the oncologist readily agreed! She was not “mad” at him at all.
Also it came as a surprise that the oncologist broke the news that there were no more EBV in his blood and the mass in his nose had resolved. In simple language, he was considered “cured” or was in remission. There was no further need for chemo. He had only to come for routine checkup.
Part 5: Don’t Be Complacent – Learn from the Experiences of Others Before You
On 12 May 2012, he came back to Penang and shared his story with us. Now, it was our turn to give him our advice on how to stay healthy.
Eat anything you like? That’s going to be the greatest mistake you will ever commit in your life. So take care of your diet.
You are not cured of your cancer yet! The cancer can come back and strike you again! So don’t be complacent or fooled by this good news.
Learn from the experiences of others before you. Learn from their mistakes and successes if you want to live long.

MT (S-127) is a 44-year old female from Batam, Indonesia. In August 2005, she found a thumb-sized lump in her right breast. She went to a hospital in Melaka, Malaysia for medical treatment. MT underwent a mastectomy followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. Then she was prescribed Tamoxifen, which she took for 5 years.
MT was told by her doctors that her breast cancer was at an early stage and that she had a 90 percent chance of complete cure with the treatments that she had undergone. MT believed her doctor and did exactly as what was told. Each year she came back to her doctor in Melaka for routine checkup. At every visit she was told that she was fine.
After 5 years, MT was told to stop Tamoxifen because she was already cured. MT spent a total of about 60 million rupiahs for her medical treatment.
Barely a year later, in April 2011, MT started to have pains in her tail bone and shoulder blade. She ignored the problem and did not go back to see her doctor. Then she started to take “jamu” (Indonesian herbal). The pains did not go away but rather became more intense. Then her legs started to hurt as well. She became breathless and was unable to walk far. She became tired easily when walking.
On 27 February 2012, MT returned to her doctor in Melaka. Examination indicated a lump in her chest bone and another lump in her head (see pictures).
Medical reports on 27 February 2012 are as follows:
Mammography: There are 2 round left axillary nodes seen ? reactive node ? metastasis ?
Ultrasound: There is mild to moderate left hydronephrosis.
Chest: Density of the right mid-zone with adjacent crowded ribs due to ? fracture or pleural base mass. There is blunting of right costophrenic angle possible of mild effusion or pleural thickening. Left lung is clear.

MT asked her doctor why the cancer recurred when she was told earlier that she had been cured. The doctor replied, “ I do not know why. But don’t blame yourself. It is your fate. Also the recurrence has nothing to do with what you eat. It is just your fate.”
MT was asked to perform a PET scan but she refused. Instead, on 9 March 2012, she came to Penang to seek our help. She presented as follows:
She had pains in both the left and right thigh.
She had pains in the lumbar region or back bone around the pelvis.
Sometimes there were pulling pains in her head.
She was constipated. She moved her bowels once every 2 to 4 days.
She lacked energy and was easily tired if working or walking some distance.
She was prescribed Capsule A, Breast M, Bone, Lung 1 and Lung 2 and C-tea.

About two months on the herbs, 6 May 2012, MT came back to see us again. Her health had improved. The Pain Tea had helped her. There was no more pain after taking the Pain Tea but after she stopped taking the Pain Tea, the pain came back. Since MT was staying in Penang for a week, we decided to put MT on the e-Therapy for her pains.
There are many lessons we can learn from this case. The doctor told MT: “You are cured after 5 years. I do not know why you have a recurrence. It is your fate. The recurrence has nothing to do with what you eat.”
1. It is not true to say or believe that if you survive 5 years you are totally cured of your cancer. Passing the 5-year mark is no magic at all. There is no science in that number “5”. The reality is you have to survive 25 years to be able to say that you are cured of your cancer. Patients can’t wait that long to hear such good news. So someone, somehow “cooked” up that number of 5 from nowhere so as to make patients happy. Listen to what Dr Susan Love said – and remember, she is one of the world’s most outstanding breast cancer doctor!
2. The current state of affair is that we don’t know why people get cancer and we also don’t know why patients suffer recurrences. I tend to believe that the problem lies in not wanting to really “know the problem” and not asking the right question. If you don’t search at the “right place” you can’t find the answer!
3. Medicine is supposed to be scientific and to say that your recurrence is due to fate is tragic, probably fueled by ignorance or could not care less attitude. If indeed it is due to our karma or fate, then why must MT spend all the money to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and take Tamoxifen (for 5 years)? It is not cheap and it is not fun!
4. Where does that leave cancer patients with? They are left high and dry after all the supposedly scientific medical treatments have failed them. They become hopeless, disempowered and frustrated. But don’t be disheartened, my experience shows that cancer patients can do something to reduce that risk of recurrence. Change your diet and lifestyle, exercise and have a positive attitude about life. If you do that you can life longer! You are not as hopeless as doctors tell you. Many others can do it, why can’t you if you are prepared to change. But the problem is with patients who are not prepared to listen and change!
India is cheaper with medical treatments and they have similar equipments to advanced countries.
CT scan revealed the tumor was almost obstructing the rectum, the surgeon suggested an emergency surgery to divert the stools so as to prevent blockage. I have had thirty radiation treatments and three cycles of chemotherapy.
You had radiotherapy at the same time took xeloda?Did they tell you radiotherapy is going to cure or shrink your tumour? Why did you agree to do the radiotherapy? Did you suffer any side effects when on radiation?
They told me radiation would shrink the tumor so they could do the surgery because I did not want a permanent colostomy. Now that I think back, if the tumor was truly about to block the rectum, then I would not be having normal size bowel movements. But my bowel movements were normal in size, I guess they deceived me there again.
I had side effects; my bladder was on fire (burning)! Every time I urinated I cried because it burned as I urinated, I reduced my liquid intake because I did not want to urinate. I was urinating about every 30 minutes. When I told the radiologist about the pain, he said it was impossible; it was too early to have any symptoms. I started having symptoms after the first week. I lost all my genital hair. My whole genital area was irritated and which itched and itched and itched! Nothing relieved this itch. One of the doctors said “you’re young, you should be able tolerate the pain”. They then gave me Urispass after I complained for 3 weeks, to help with the burn when urinating.
A week after I started radiation was when I started to sweat excessively. I have bouts of internal heat even when I am in an air-conditioned room. My whole head/face/back and chest would look like I poured water on it.
Also, with the chemo, I had nerve tingles in my hands and feet. I also had prickly sensation all over my body occasionally. I don’t get the tingles anymore, but the prickly sensation still appears once in while.
I was not informed about any side effect of radiation. The only thing they did was to ask if I am married. I said no, and they proceeded. I asked, begged for the doctors to talk to me, all I got was, we are trying to help you, calm down be grateful and take the pain. But eventually I got tired of them saying they were trying to help me, I quit for three weeks after I had a fight with the clinic. The doctor actually said “you are going to die if you stop the treatment, the disease is advanced” and I yelled, it’s been advanced for almost two years I AM STILL ALIVE!!! They then told me, if I do not continue the treatment the only surgery they could do was take out the whole rectum and take out the vagina and if they should try to do that, it would result in death. I cried, my mum cried, nobody cared that I was just another random paying patient!
I asked to know the amount of radiation I was getting, they said they couldn’t tell me, I asked to view my file, they said I couldn’t. I know every patient has a right to view their file upon request because they paid for it!
I have refused surgery because the surgeon plans to take out the whole rectum and vagina. I refused Chemo IV after the first, gave me bad burns on both my arms and close up my throat.
When did you complete all these treatment?
Radiation was completed in October. I stopped taking Xeloda December last year (2011).
What are your plans after treatment?
My plan is to start a fulfilling job in the health industry and enjoy the life I have prevented myself from enjoying for all these years. Everyone that can afford it wants to eat what Americans are eating. They need someone to teach them to stick to their own food.
Give us an idea of what it cost to be treated in an Indian hospital.
Visit to oncologist, what is the consulation? Less than US$20 per visit
Total cost of opeation for colostomy? About US$6,000
Total cost of 30 radiation? US$8,000 including tests.
One cycle of Xeloda? Around US$5 per pill. Around $270 for a cycle.
Are the facilities good — clean? The facilities are okay since it’s an international hospital. About 50percent overall cleanliness, but the toilets were 20 percent clean. I bought my own bleach and cleaning supplies because I am very fussy about clean bathrooms.
Are the doctors and nurses pleasant to deal with, well trained?
For every ten nurses, only two spoke English at a level that can be fairly understood. I believe they are well trained but the nurses don’t follow procedures like I believe they were trained. I had to remind them to clean the injection site with alcohol/spirit before giving the injection. They rarely wear gloves so there could be cross contamination among patients.
I had to inject myself a few times because they didn’t know how to administer Intramuscular injections in the thigh. My butt was in a sea of pain, because they don’t administer pain medications through the IV unless in the ICU. However, most of them are pleasant! The doctors are well trained and spoke good English. The surgeon was trained in France. I think that is one of their strongest qualities, general surgery, transplant/orthopedics, cosmetic surgery.
What are your experiences with the doctors in indian hospital?
They feel the doctors have the final say and know all, even the nurses dare not question the doctors. It was surprising that, aside from Indian food, patients were provided junk food like French fries. The fresh juices were again loaded with sugar. They didn’t seem to understand that sugar feeds cancer. I declined dextrose IV because it caused pain since it was sugar. They thought it was in my head. They ignored me until I pulled out the IV myself.
There were flies in the hospital and the food had stones and hair in them. Most people don’t wear shoes in the hospital with the amount of diseases in the hospital. In the clinic I went to receive radiation, I was told I would not receive treatment if I do not remove my sandals, meanwhile people walk barefoot on the street, so there really is no difference between those wearing shoes and those walking barefoot. We are all bringing in the same dirt.
I noticed the doctors don’t follow-up with their patients. If you don’t show up for an appointment, they don’t even bother to ask the nurses to find out the status of the patient. I stopped seeing my surgeon since October 2011. It wasn’t until I went to the hospital in January 2012 that he saw me walking by and asked “Oh, are you okay?”
The Oncologist
Your article made me remember when I was arguing with the oncologist a few months ago about chemo. I accused him about the so-called cure and ask for the percentage rate. He said the best is 25%!!! I was flabbergasted! And even when radiation is included the maximum is 30%. Then he proceeded to suggest I have chemo for one whole year. I laughed and said that’s not going to happen, God forbid I stay on chemo for a year. He looked at me as if I didn’t know the severity of the illness. I told him, But you know that chemo and radiation cause secondary cancers. He told me to stop reading the internet and all those are not true! I smiled and made a mental note not to share anything with him again.
Radiologist
Before radiation, nobody ever bothered to explain the side effects to me, I knew that there would be some effects with my reproductive organs, I asked for a fertility center, so I could at least preserve my eggs. They said there was none in the state and I stupidly believed them. After twenty bouts of radiation later, I found a clinic, they said they couldn’t help by then. I cried so much and had a fight with the doctors for acting like they were God and the sole decision maker. I was very upset. I learned that because the cancer was stage 4, they didn’t think I would survive to be able to have children anyway.
Before the treatment you were not told about the side effects of chemo or radiation?
They told me nothing with radiation. But for chemo, they said nausea, hair loss and fatigue but, I didn’t have them. Instead, I had terrible heart burns that felt like a heart attack. I still have hair on my head. I’m sure the oncologist will have a heart attack if he sees me without my hat/scarf.
Did the oncologist / radiologist know that you are taking supplements and herbs?
The radiologist said I should not take anything. These might make the side-effects of the radiation worse. The oncologist said not to take anything that may reduce the efficacy of the chemo. I told them I was only taking one multi-vitamin but continued taking all my supplements.
Did they oppose or support your desire to take herbs and supplements? What did they say?
They opposed as they didn’t think it could have positive effects, only negative. When I informed the oncologist I was going to use herbs to improve my WBC, he said herbs won’t work, that I was better off taking the injection to boost it. When I asked where I could find alternate treatments, they said only the temple/church.
Then you found cancer care? How do you know us then? Any one told you about us.
God pointed me in the direction of CA Care. Nobody told me. Nobody I know knows CA Care. I prayed during my ordeal and I told God, I don’t want all these chemicals, they are hurting me. I was always sad when taking these treatments. I wanted to be better and not become more sick. A few days later, I started seeing advertisements on TV about Malaysia. It would show pictures of Malaysia and how beautiful it is, and encouraged tourists to visit. The commercial always ended with “Malaysia, truly Asia”. I told my mum, I want to visit Malaysia. One of my friends promised me a vacation after I get out of the hospital, and asked where I would like to go. I said Malaysia. I didn’t know anyone or anything about Malaysia but, my spirit wanted to go for some reason. My subconscious knew something I didn’t know. A few weeks later, I said a prayer and got on the internet just searching. I don’t remember the specific thing I was searching for. I was just searching, knowing God will lead me where I needed to go and I came upon www.cacare.com
I don’t believe in coincidences and I know everything happens for a reason. I went through the site and it clicked in my mind, this is why I have been seeing Malaysia on TV. Since then, I have not seen that commercial on TV. God is indeed wonderful!
The story of Dr. Peter Ooi (currently Professor) was kept untold for a decade. But as 2012 set in, I thought it would be wonderful to share his cancer experience with you all. So I wrote Peter telling him about this and below is his e-mail reply on 26 January 2012.
Dear Chris,
The Lord be with you and indeed thanks to you. Dr. Chen, the ENT specialist that I consult annually from Glenagles, Singapore confirmed that I am indeed healthy. He suggested that I continue with my diet and the herbs I take from you … Dr. Chen also shared with me his views that 11+ years is a good sign for remission. You may know that I am now tasked with setting up the Department of Agriculture and Food Sciences … I took up the professorial chair as I wanted to share my belief in the God given richness of our agro-biodiversity and the need to help students understand that we can have profitability without sacrificing the environment and play God … I have no objection to you using my name in your video clip. Yes, I am proud to say that I believe in a more holistic approach to healing as it is in the good hands of the Lord. You may refer to me as Peter Ooi to confirm that I am a Christian and a Hokkien as NPC is more common among the Hokkiens and Cantonese. Once again, thank God for people like you. God bless.
Dr. Peter Ooi was 51 years old when he was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC – nose cancer) Stage 2/3 in 2000. At that time he was with the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) in Bangkok. Later Peter became the Director of the Asian Regional Centre of the World Vegetable Center, also based in Bangkok. Peter “immediately took up the aggressive procedure of both radiation and chemotherapy.” He completed 35 sessions of radiation treatments and at the same time received chemotherapy. He gave up chemotherapy after four cycles – the treatment made him too sick!
Let him tell you what it was like to be at the receiving end of radio-chemo treatments.
Part 1: Radiotherapy Experience
The treatment burnt my whole throat – like it was on fire.
My wife cried, because I couldn’t drink even a drop of water.
I could not walk by myself.
I was not told about the side effects of radiotherapy.
I have no more salivary glands (that is why in the video you see Peter having to taking sips of water very often when talking to us).
Part 2: Chemo Experience
I was not told about the side effects of chemotherapy – the only thing mentioned was hair loss.
I stopped chemo after the fourth cycle – I was too weak.
I developed a phobia for “needle”. The veins in my hands just “disappeared” when I see a needle!
Part 3: Treatment Satisfaction
Doctors should have told patients more about the expected side effects of the treatments
The oncologist could not answer the questions I asked, such as why use this or that drugs? It is always the standard answer that they give – “standard regimen or protocol”.
My Comments
It is indeed our privilege to be able to help Peter at the time when he needed us and also to be able to share with you his cancer experience. This video recording was made in Bangkok, in 2007 – about seven years after Peter started to take the herbs. I hope those reading this story will benefit from Peter’s experience as much as I benefited and enjoyed our conversation that day.
There is this common perception that only the “uneducated, kampong folks” who opted for alternative medicine – and they go to the “quacks”. Is that right? Far from it – here is Dr. Peter Ooi – a fellow scientist – realising that the standard fare dished out to cancer patients is not good enough and is not the answer to our present-day cancer problem. In fact the reverse seems to be true – those who know or are knowledgeable enough turn to holistic, alternative treatments when they get cancer. Why?
People with “thinking” mind will see the deficiencies of modern medicine when it comes to cancer. Chemo drugs injected into patients are toxic drugs. Dr. Glenn Warner, a medical doctor put it this way rather aptly:
One lesson we can learn from Peter’s experience is that cancer doctors do not tell their patients the whole truth – only half truth. It is left to patients themselves to learn (and often through the hard way) the other untold half of the whole truth. Why are they so evasive about the “bad” effects of their treatments? Do they ever admit that most of the time their treatments do not work or may even kill patients? Read the story of LCC – he died within six months while undergoing chemotherapy for his nose cancer. Click this link: https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2012/01/26/nose-npc-cancer-chemo-and-he-was-dead-six-months-later-why/ Peter’s experience is not much different – he was drained of his energy and unable to walk by himself during his treatment. But he was wiser – he abandoned his chemo after the fourth cycle. Of course to the chagrin of his brother-in-law, a medical doctor.
Take note of what Dr James Forsythe, an oncologist, wrote:
Peter went into chemo and radiation with full confidence – gung-ho spirit but he came out of it almost half dead. And his confidence in his doctor shattered. I often wonder why oncologists (some or most?) don’t come clean with their patients. Why withhold information that is important to patients? Is it because they fear that patients will run away from them? Let’s not deny that many patients may do so if they know the whole truth. In the book, Severed Trust, Dr. George Lundberg, M.D. wrote:
1997. Melisa’s problem started when she had severe pains in the shoulder muscles. At night she had muscle cramps in the legs. She went to see a doctor who told her that nothing was wrong and that she had been working too hard. She should take a holiday and relax. Some months later she did her annual pap smear. Her doctor said everything was alright.
A few months later, she suffered severe, heavy bleeding. The blood discharge had clots and it flowed out rather suddenly and wet the entire floor of the bathroom.
October 1998. She went to see a gynaecologist at a private hospital. A biopsy confirmed she had cancer. She underwent a hysterectomy. The pathology report dated 2 October 1998 stated the following:
Hysterectomy specimen: uterus and cervix including short vaginal cuff and parametrium together with both appendages weighing in toto 160 grams.
The cervix showed a whitish fleshy friable tumour invading almost the entire length and thickness of its wall measuring 5 x 2 x 1.5 cm. The ectocervix and lower uterine segment were also found to be invaded. The vaginal cuff and parametrium were grossly free from any tumour invasion.
Interpretation: 1. Adenosquamous cell carcinoma of cervix with micrcoscopic invasion of parametrium but vaginal cuff was clear. Figo Stage 1b. 2. Metastatic involvement of one left internal iliac node.
Remark: altogether twelve right pelvic node and eight left pelvic nodes were received.
After the operation, she underwent radiation treatments in a hospital in Penang. She suffered badly from the radiotherapy. Barely two months afterwards, Melisa ended up having to go in and out of the hospital due to pains, fevers and high temperatures. Later, a scan showed that there was pus in her abdomen. The doctor extracted out the pus. She was well for a while. Then, a scan revealed that the cancer had spread to her lungs and liver.
Melisa ended up in a hospital in Singapore – in search for a cure. The doctor at first suggested that she underwent a liver surgery to remove the infected parts. Melisa reasoned out how surgery could have helped her when the entire liver and lungs were infected with cancer? She declined surgery but went ahead with chemotherapy. The first shot of chemotherapy was tolerable but the second and third cycles were really bad. She preferred to die rather than complete the entire regimen.
One of her employee told Melisa to seek the help of a Dr.Teo. On 19 March 2000, Melisa came to see us. At that time she could hardly walk.
We requested to have an interview with Melisa so that we can share her healing experience with others. She agreed. On 14 June 2001 at 4 p.m. a video-taped interview was conducted. Let Melisa herself tell you of her healing experience.
Tell us about your experience of radiotherapy that you had in Penang.
I underwent 25 times of radiation treatment and one session of “internal treatment”. For this internal treatment, three long probes were inserted into me and I had to lie on the bed for 72 hours in a special room – immobilised. During that treatment the doctor visited me once. This was an experience that I would not wish to go through again.
I suffered badly from the radiation treatments. I had sore mouth, was constipated and the anus bled. Sometimes I had diarrhoea. I felt like having a fire inside me. I could not eat or sleep. I vomited. Every morning when I woke up, I dread the thought of having to go through the radiation treatment again.
After the radiotherapy, were you cured or did you feel better?
No. Barely two months past, I spent time in and out of the hospital. I had pains, fevers and high temperatures. The doctor did not know exactly what was wrong with me. Then later, another doctor in the same hospital took a scan and detected that I had pus in my abdomen. I was hospitalised for eight days and the doctor extracted out some 600 ml of pus from my abdomen. He did it three times. Then I was alright. A few months later, during a follow-up visit, a scan showed that the cancer had spread to both my liver and the lungs.
What did the doctor say about the cancer that had spread? How serious was it?
The doctor told me that both these organs had numerous dots and at least thirty spots were visible. They were the sizes of five, ten and twenty cents coins.
There was nothing the gynaecologist could do for me. I went to consult a doctor at the cancer hospital. He told me that I could do chemotherapy as a palliative measure but in my case there was no hope for a cure. This was the last stage cancer. I was told to go and make out my will. My gynaecologist was a nice person – he tried to find doctors elsewhere for me to proceed further with my treatments. At last, I landed in Singapore.
Tell us about your treatment in Singapore.
The oncologist at first suggested that I had surgery to remove those infected parts. On consultation with my Penang doctor, I asked the oncologist how surgery could remove all those spots in the liver. The oncologist replied: Who is the cancer doctor, I or your doctor in Penang? I refused to have the surgery but agreed to go along with chemotherapy.
Before doing the chemotherapy, were you told what this treatment is all about? The side effects and benefits.
No. I had all along believed that the treatment was to kill and get rid of the cancer cells. I was not told that the treatments would be difficult and I had to suffer such side effects. The doctor did not carry out any further test or diagnosis. The appointment was fixed and chemotherapy started the next day “otherwise the cancer cells would spread more” (that was what the doctor told me). I was scheduled to do six cycles divided into 12 shots, i.e. 2 injections represent one cycle. I did not know what drugs were used on me.
(It is indeed most regrettable that Melisa was not able to produce the scan of her metastatic condition. Her Singapore oncologist kept the medical report and scan films. She requested that these be returned to her. Unfortunately, the oncologist refused telling Melisa that she had not completed her chemo-treatments and that he would not be able to return those films and report. This same oncologist also did not disclose the chemo-drugs used on her (many patients also told similar things about this same doctor. This was not an isolated case experienced by Melisa alone).
Point to ponder: The report and films rightly belong to Melisa. She brought them along to Singapore. How could it become the property of the oncologist? Why did the doctor want to keep her record? We wonder if such conduct is humane/ethical or what? Informed consent means that the doctor is supposed to explain the consequences of the treatment plan to their patients – telling them of both the good and the bad).
Tell us what was it like to be on chemotherapy?
It is very difficult to put in words the sufferings I had to endure.
The first chemo-short was tolerable. I felt sleepy, tired and groggy. I did not vomit but I could not sleep.
The second and third shots were really bad. Everything seemed not right. Sitting down was also not right, standing up was also not right. I could not sleep. In whatever position I was in, I just did not feel right. I could not eat. I felt something was blocked in the chest. The stomach felt bloated and there was wind trying to push out. Sometime I vomited. It was difficult to breathe. My hair dropped off every time I bathe and it blocked the drainage hole of the bathroom. When I stood up I felt like falling down. I could not get into the car – felt giddy and the world spinning around me.
Under such a situation I felt I would rather die. Remaining alive had no meaning any more.
Having got to go through that agony, what did the doctor say about the chances of your cure?
He said it all depends on me. He did not know what my chance was. He saidI should be lucky if I could live for three to six months. If I survive then he would give me more chemos. I came to understand that I was given chemo to prolong my life for three to six months. The doctor also told me that if I die I would not die in pain if I had chemotherapy.
(Point to ponder: Chemotherapy was given to Melisa just to prolongher life for three to six months? And when she dies, she is NOT supposed to die in pain, if she had chemotherapy. Right? Is that logical? What about the sufferings she had to endure while on chemotherapy? Also, if she survived – she would need to have more chemos? Where is the cure? When is the chemotherapy going to stop – when she dies?)
How much did it cost you to get your treatment?
One shot of chemotherapy (given over two times) cost me S$6000, i.e. RM 12,000. In addition I have to pay for other costs – like blood test, hospital, hotel, travel etc. So, all in all, each visit to the hospital cost me about RM 15,000 to 20,000.
After all these sufferings and expenses, did your health improved?
No. I was not better at all. I felt miserable. I could not work. I could not do what I like. I had to stay home. I could not even walk out to the gate of my house for lack of strength. I could not sleep and I could not stand up for long. I felt heaty inside. When I put on the air-con full blast, my head felt cold. When I put off the air-cond, I felt I was on fire. In the middle of the night I stood or sat by the window looking out into the darkness and felt the cool air. I wondered if life is worth living. Life has no more meaning – to be alive like this. I knew I was dying.
Did you gave up chemotherapy?
No. Not yet. Then, one nice worker of mine, who worked in the factory came and told me about CA Care which is right in Penang and which I did not even know about. Since I have NO other avenues – To do chemo also die, not to do chemo also die – I then decided to come and see you.
What happened after you came to see us and took the herbs? This is what happened after I took the herbs that you prescribed.
The first day, nothing spectacular happened. I only started to urinate a lot and felt a bit better. The urine was smelly. Before the herbs the urine was always heaty.
The second day on the herbs, I vomited. Anyway, I kept telling myself. This was to get rid of something in me. I still urinated a lot.
The third day was great. I felt the muscle in the neck had loosened up. I was able to put on my dress and went to my office. Before the herbs I was not able to go to my office. Also I was not able to sit in the car. Now I could do all these. Even my office worker was surprised and asked me if I was already well. I felt elated and confidence grew within me. I knew I was on the right path to healing. From that day on I felt better and better.
Then, did you continue with your chemotherapy?
I felt better with the herbs. I was in a dilemma – not sure if I should continue with the chemotherapy or not. I asked your opinion but you (Dr. Teo) were non-committal. I went to consult my gynaecologist and seek for more information. It was then that I learnt that chemo-drugs are actually poisons. They not only kill the cancer cells, but also kill the good cells and may destroy the vital organs in my body. All along I thought that chemo-drugs kill only the cancer cells and they would cure me. If this was what it is, I reasoned that all these treatments would damage the organs in my body. How could my body recover from the cancer? I could NOT sleep the whole night and was unsure of what to do. My husband also told me that I had to make up my own mind and decide for myself. At last, I came to the decision NOT to continue with the chemotherapy.
When you decided to stop the chemotherapy – were you under pressure to change this decision? Yes. Many people said many things to me. The problem is that all these comments came from people who NEVER experience the sufferings – they did not know what it was like to suffer from those chemo-drugs. Then the nurse from the Singapore oncologist called me THREE times asking me to come back and complete my treatments. In addition, the oncologist personally talked to me TWICE over the phone telling me to come and complete the treatment. They told me that it would be dangerous if I did not complete the treatment. However, I was firm in my decision. In the last conversation with the oncologist, I told him that I have NO MORE MONEY to pay for the treatments. With that, no more calls came from his office. My ploy to get him off my back worked!
After you gave up chemotherapy and were on the herbs – did you take any other herbs as well?
No. I was firm with this. There were many kind-hearted and well meaning people who came and told me about who is good or what is good for me. I listened to them but I was firm on taking your herbs only. Some people commented that I have been taking the herbs for so long and I should change them for something else. There is no reason to. The herbs helped me and l kept taking them.
Now, Melisa – you have been on the herbs for about 1 year 3 months now. Did you at any one time experience any difficulty?
No. I felt better with each day. Before I had cancer I was very active – running around like a horse. Then when I was sick I could not do anything – could not even walk to the toilet. Now, I am back to almost normal like I was before – running around again like the same horse before. I drove by myself to Johor Baru, Kelantan, Trengganu, etc. I flew to Hong Kong. I drove my four-wheel drive into the hills. I visited my durian plantation. I played golf and carried my own golf bag. I worked in my factory and office from morning till night. I felt normal and I did not worry about my illness at all. I know I am alright now.
Did you go back to see your doctor for any check up?
No. I used to meet my doctor and he asked me to go back to the hospital and do a scan every six months. He also called me in the office. I said, yes, yes and smiled. Once, I asked my doctor: what would you do if the scan shows that I have a tumour inside me? He said, wellgo for chemotherapy. No, another chemotherapy is not the answer for me.
Melisa, tell us what do you think is the secret of your healing success?
I believe three factors had contributed to my healing. One – 30 percent was due to my full confidence and faith in the healer. If I have difficulty and if it concerned medical procedures, I went to see my gynaecologist and if I have problems related to my cancer I come to see you (Dr.Teo).
Two – 50 percent, was due to the herbs. They helped me from day one of my taking them. I felt the effects almost immediately. From day three I was able to go to my office. From then on I knew that the herbs were good and right for me. I have no doubt about that.
Three – 20 percent was due to my mental attitude. After I came and see you I knew that I have found my way to healing. I was happy and I did not worry any more. I took life positively. I became well. I look forward to living another 20 years and more. For now, I am hoping to build up my company – bigger and bigger. And I shall continue to take the herbs without fail. In fact, I need to tell you this. I took the capsules A and B five times a day instead of three. I kept the herbs in the office, in the car and by my bed. I took the teas using ten spoonfuls instead of six spoonfuls as you told me to take. I took MORE herbs and never less. Some friends said that the herbs were smelly, tasted so awful and I should look out for better alternatives. I must say I should thank the herbs for helping me. In fact, I figured that I hope to be able to take the herbs for the next twenty years or more. I have my hope. I have my vision and my dreams. I know where I am going.
Melisa related to us two interesting episodes.
A nurse in the gynaecologist’s office called Melisa’s office one day. She discretely asked the operator if Melisa was still alive. Her staff replied that her boss was still around and had gone to Hong Kong. The nurse asked if she went to Hong Kong for medical treatment. No, no….on business.
Melisa told us that many of her friends never believed that she had cancer in the first place! On day, one medical doctor came into her office and asked her husband if there was a lady in his office who had cancer and was supposed to die but had recovered instead. Her husband said it was his wife. At the time Melisa walked into the office and the doctor burst out: Who said that people who had cancer need to die?

We rejoice in this healing. We pray that God will show Melisa His grace and blessing for many more years to come.
It was with sadness that about two years later, Melisa’s urinary track failed and she had stents installed. She was told that this was caused by her earlier radiation treatment. Then her husband found another woman and this led to a divorce. Melisa died soon afterwards.
Jonathan Chamberlain’s wife, Bernadette, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 1993. She underwent surgical investigation, radiation and chemotherapy and was dead exactly a year later. There is no doubt that she died as much from the treatment as from the cancer itself. Looking back, Chamberlain feels that the biggest mistake they made was to do what the doctors advised because Bernadette could not have died sooner if they had done nothing.
In his book: Cancer Recovery Guide, pg. 28, Jonathan Chamberlain wrote:
When my wife Bernadette learned that despite all the surgery, radiation and chemotherapy her tumour had returned, she was informed that she had three months to live. She was told this on 17 January. She died on 16 April. Three months exactly.
I had a chance to talk with Jonathan when he visited CA Care in 2009. In our conversation one evening by the beach, Jonathan said:
From my own experience with my wife, we were in awe of the doctors …. We were in awe of our ignorance. We assumed that the doctors were best … I realized that was the biggest mistake I have ever made – to do what the doctors advise. You learn the hard way.
She (wife) suffered from chemotherapy and it killed her. She died not just from cancer. She died from cancer plus chemotherapy. She died within one year because she did everything that doctor advised her.
RAM was a 64-year-old lady from Indonesia. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in December 2000. According to her daughter, the tumour was only the size of a green pea and was visible. RAM was referred to the cancer hospital for treatment. In January 2001, she was started on radiotherapy. Altogether she had 26 radiation treatments and this was followed by HDR brachytherapy (i.e., internal radiotherapy). She also underwent chemotherapy at the same time.
After the medical treatments, RAM was alright for a while. In March 2002, RAM started to have pains in the backbone and the abdomen. A CT scan done on 13 March 2002 showed the presence of at least three hypodense foci in segment 6 of right lobe of her liver suspicious of either cysts or metastatic deposits. Her uterus was distended with fluid within the endometrial cavity. There was mild thickening of the uterine cervix, post radiotherapy. Multiple sclerotic foci scattered in the lumbar vertebral bodies, iliac bones and right head of femur. These were suggestive of sclerotic bony metastasis.
RAM went back to the same cancer hospital. She again underwent 11 times of radiotherapy. After the treatment, RAM’s health started to deteriorate. Disappointed, she went to another private hospital in Penang. The medical report dated 22 June 2002 stated, “She consulted me for the first time on 17 June 2002 with complaints of severe pain in the back and right side of the face. X-rays confirmed secondary sclerotic lesions in the ribs, clavicles, scapulae, skull vault, upper cervical spine and lumbosacral spine suggestive of metastases”. This meant the cancer had spread extensive to her bones. The doctor prescribed RAM a three-month supply of artificial saliva, amitriptylline, morphine sulphate and maxolon.
RAM stopped coming to Penang for treatment. She stayed home. Her entire right side of the body was in pain. She was not able to eat. She breathed with difficulty. Her daughter came to see us on 30 August 2002.

A small pea-sized tumour in the cervix had created havoc within a year. Are we made to believe that this is a natural course of event in cervical cancer – a pea-sized monster suddenly becoming ferocious and invaded the liver, ribs, skull and bones all over the body?
How could that be? Think carefully and calmly. Could it be due the chemo-drugs or the deadly radiation? If RAM was to take it easy – if she were to do NOTHING, would she be in her current situation? Would NO treatment at all make her worse off? What could have been worse than the current situation?
Her daughter told us that RAM was a healthy lady and weighed 65 kg when she started with medical treatments. After the treatment she became a vegetable. In June 2002, the doctor told her family that RAM had only THREE months to live. RAM eventually died, 1 year and 8 months after her diagnosis.

This is a bitter-sweet story of Le, a 37-year-old female from Indonesia. She came to us on 14 October 2011 after having been diagnosed with breast cancer that had probably spread to her lungs. She had undergone 106 radiation treatments besides taking a variety of supplements.
1. I found a small lump in my breast in 2003. I ignored it. In 2009, the lump grew bigger and I felt it while lying down. I went to see a doctor who told me to do a biopsy. I declined. I did not want to do chemo or radiation.
2. Why did you go and see the doctor then? Le: Just to know if the lump was cancerous or not!
3. The doctor confirmed it was a cancer. I declined medical treatment and opted for supplements and alternative therapies instead.
4. I took “something.” I did not what the concoction was. This cost me six million rupiah per month. The tumour grew bigger.
5.After taking the concoction, the tumour grew bigger – didn’t you realize that you were not on the correct path? Le: No, I never thought of that!
6. I didn’t know where else to go. I bought all kinds of products to take. One supplement that I took for a year cost me 700,000 rupiahs per day – each gulp of this supplement cost 700,000 rupiah.
7. The tumour grew bigger and eventually burst.
8. I had no choice. I agreed to go for radiotherapy.
9. After the radiation the tumour shrunk. But four months later another tumour recurred at the collarbone. It was a small lump and then grew bigger until I had a very big lump around my neck.
10. Why did you wait for it to grow so big before going for another round of radiation? Le: I was hoping by taking the supplements the lump would shrink.
11. Since the lump grew bigger and bigger when you were taking the supplements, why did you continue taking them –even when they didn’t seem to help? Le: I just continued taking them. I waited and waited until the lump grew bigger and bigger.
12. Then I went for more radiation (in total I had 106 radiation treatments). Later they radiated my ovaries for six times.
13. Before the completion of all my radiation treatments, another lump recurred in my abdomen.
14. While undergoing the radiotherapy, I was asked to take Tamoxifen. Ten days on Tamoxifen my wrists swelled and I could not bend my fingers. After a month on Tamoxifen I could not walk.
15. I had to use the wheelchair and my husband had to carry me.
16. My good friend from Makassar called. She told me my body could not take the radiation anymore. I should stop the treatment. But where do I go? I have tried all the alternatives and failed. My friend to me, “Go to Chris Teo. You can check him out on the internet.”
17. Let me ask you this question – if you were to start all over again from 2009 when you felt the lump in your breast – what would you have done? Le: I would come to see you. I would not want to go for medical treatments.
18. When you had that small lump, you went to see the doctor but why did you not want him to do something for you? Le: I went to see a “sinseh”. He told me I had this disease because of my sins. What kind of “sinseh” was that?
19.What I wanted to know is, do you know that if you have a cancerous lump in your breast, the best option is to have it removed by the doctor? Le: If I were to have met you then, it is most likely that I would follow your advice and have the lump removed. Because after that I can take the herbs, okay – that I would agree. But I don’t want to go for chemotherapy or radiotherapy after the surgery. Unfortunately, I did not know about you then.
It is with sadness to learn that Le had to be hospitalized after her return to Surabaya because the cancer had spread to her liver. She died on 6 January 2012

This is a bitter-sweet story of Le, a 37-year-old female from Indonesia. She came to us on 14 October 2011 after having been diagnosed with breast cancer that had probably spread to her lungs. She had undergone 106 radiation treatments besides taking a variety of supplements. She presented with aches and pains throughout her body, especially the joints. She could not bend her fingers. She could not sleep well and she had coughs.
You did radiotherapy – how many times of radiation did they give you? Le: One hundred and six.
Are you sure? Is that correct? Le: Sure, correct. I received 25 treatments on my left breast (a), then another 25 times below my collarbone (b). Another lump appeared on my right breast and I again had 25 treatments for my right breast (c). Then they radiated my ovaries – that was done for six times. The cancer spread again to my left breast and I again had 25 treatments (d). Actually I have just completed the 106th treatment a few days ago. Then I came here.
You got one treatment a day, so this means you have been going to the hospitals for at least 106 times then? Le: Yes.
Do you want some more radiation? Le: Oh no. I don’t want anymore. That is why I came here. Every time I went for radiation, I prayed, “O god please help me to stop this radiation treatment”.
While undergoing radiation, you were told to take Tamoxifen? Le: Yes, before they radiated my right breast. Husband: About three months ago, around August 2011.
So in August 2011, you started taking Tamoxifen and at the same time had radiation? Le: Yes and ten days after taking Tamoxifen my left wrist swelled. It was a soft swelling – not hard. Then my right wrist also swelled. This was bigger than the one on my left wrist. I had pain when I bent my wrists.
Did you ask the doctor why this swelling? Le: The doctor said the cancer had spread to my wrists. Husband: No, the doctor said the cancer had spread to all her bones.
And you still continued to take the Tamoxifen? Le: Yes. Then within a month, I lost my strength. Husband: The swellings in her wrists were “hot”. Le: Every joint in my body felt “hot”. After a month of taking Tamoxifen I was not able to walk.
You couldn’t walk? Le: Yes, I could not walk (demonstrate her physical disability).
Before you took the Tamoxifen, were you able to walk? Le: Okay, no problem. I could exercise and do the “Thian Kung”. Husband: After taking Tamoxifen, she could not walk.
Then what did you do? Le: I took supplements and drank coconut water. The situation improved.
Did you become normal again physically? Le: No, not until I came here (CA Care Penang). After I took your herbs and did the e-Therapy, I can now stand up straight. Before this I could not do this.

1. My 42-year-old friend with breast cancer died after chemotherapy
Le: My friend also had breast cancer like me. She died after two years. She went to Singapore to find the best medicine for her breast cancer. It started with just a tiny tumour. She had it removed and then underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She was okay. Then the cancer spread to her bones. They installed a chemo-port in her and she continued to receive more chemo. She took the best “bird nests” to help her cope with the side effects of chemo. After this chemo, there were spots all over her skin.
Are you sure? Was she you friend? Le: Yes. Even with such effects she continued to receive more chemos. In total she had 38 cycles of chemotherapy. After that she looked okay, okay but her nails were all dark. Then the cancer went to her backbone and spread to her brain. Then she continued with radiotherapy and more chemo in Surabaya. She died.
How old was she? Le: Forty-two.
I fully understand, I understand.
2. Four of my friends already died after medical treatments
Le: Four of my friends already died of cancer. Two of them had breast cancer, one had colon cancer and the other one had cancer of the uterus.
They were all your friends? Le: Yes, they died. They were all below their 50s. And they all had operation and chemotherapy.
They all died, and because of this you decided not to go for an operation and chemo? When did this happen – while you had your cancer? Le: When I had my breast cancer and they also had their cancers.
Oh, at the same time. They took a different road and you took a different path? Le: Yes, exactly.
I understand. I fully understand you. That is the reason why I did not want to push anybody who come here to go for chemo or radiation. The stories you have told me are being repeated over and over.
3. Uncle died after spending 6 Billion Rupiahs
Le: My uncle had lung cancer. He went to Singapore for treatment. In all, he spent 6 miliar (billion) rupiahs. He also died. After so many chemos, even the veins in his arm seemed to disappear. He did not take care of his diet. He ate anything he liked. At the same time, I also had my cancer. He told me to eat what I liked but I refused to listen to his advice.
And your uncle died? Le: Yes, died after three years.
And at the same time, you also had your cancer. And is it because of this that you did not want to go for medical treatment? Le: No, no. There is a feeling inside me wanting to reject chemo. These people did not die because of their cancers. They died because of their chemos. Their haemoglobin, platelets and white blood cells were all down and gone!
I understand you, I truly understand. But what I want to say is we should not totally reject medical treatments. At times we need the doctors to help us. We can use certain things that doctors do to help us. And we can reject those that are harmful to us. This is what I would tell patients.
4. See what happened to me now when I believed the doctor!
Le: I would agree to go to the doctors to check where my tumour is. But if they prescribe medication, I would not take it. See this is what happened to me – this is the evidence! This is the first time I believed the doctor and this is what I get (figures unable to bend and later unable to walk after taking Tamoxifen for a month).

It all began with a small lump in my left breast. I ignored it. Some years later, I went to see an oncologist. He asked me to undergo a biopsy and later operate. I declined. I opted for alternative therapy. I took all kinds of supplements (See Part 2: Alternative Therapies – My Twenty-One- Million-Rupiah Per Month Treatment).
The lump grew bigger and eventually burst. It was then that I went to see a radiologist and underwent radiotherapy. I had my first radiation treatment in November 2009. I received 25 treatments for my left breast. The tumour shrunk and eventually disappeared.
Three months later, another lump grew just below my neck. It grew bigger and bigger. I again received another 25 radiation treatments for this. The lump also disappeared after the treatment.
Four months later, two more tumours appeared, one on each of my breasts. I again received 25 radiation treatments for each of my left and right breasts.
I also received 6 radiation treatments for my ovaries.
While on radiotherapy, another lump appeared just below my left collar bone but this eventually disappeared after I completed the radiation treatment for my two breasts. However, now I have another lump in my abdomen.
While undergoing the later stage of radiotherapy, I took Tamoxifen. After two weeks on Tamoxifen my fingers became stiff and it was difficult and painful to bend them. After a month on Tamoxifen I was unable to walk. Also, my neck muscles became stiff. Before the Tamoxifen I was agile and had no mobility problems. I could exercise. I stopped taking Tamoxifen after a month. My doctor told me the cancer had gone to my bones.
Early this month, a good friend in Makassar called me. She advised that I have had too much radiation already and my body would not be able to accept it anymore. I should look for other alternative treatment. But all this while, I had been on alternative treatments. I took all kinds of supplements. My friend suggested that I go to Penang and meet a Chris Teo.
The above is a bitter-sweet story of Le, a 37-year-old female from Indonesia. She came to us on 14 October 2011 after having been diagnosed with breast cancer that had probably spread to her lungs. She presented with aches and pains throughout her body, especially the joints. She could not bend her fingers. She could not sleep well and she had coughs.
Le was prescribed Capsule A, Breast L and Breast M teas, Pain tea, Lung 1 and Lung 2 teas besides Cough # 10. She was put on the e-Therapy with Detox #2. That was on Friday evening.
On Sunday night (two days later), Le came back and reported as follows.
I went back to my apartment and slept through the night, from 7 pm to 6 am. I woke up just to eat and drink the herbal teas and then went back to sleep again.
Before this therapy, were you able to sleep? Le: Difficult.
On Saturday (no e-Therapy but only on herbs) did you sleep through the day? Le: Yes. I slept, woke up to eat and then went back to sleep again. I ate corn and fruits.
When you were at home, could you sleep like this? Le: No. At home when I woke up from sleep, I would feel pains. Now, I have no more pain. I could sleep in any position or posture, I had no pain. I was unable to do such a thing when I was at home.
Did you really sleep well – soundly? Le: Yes. I also passed out a lot of “gas” … boot, boot. I would walk to and fro from Kenny’s apartment to the market. I did not have any problem walking. I could not do such thing at home. I would become breathless if I walk like that.
Now, when you walk, did you become breathless? Le: No. Now, I can also hold the broom and sweep the floor. I can now make my bed and fold the blanket. I could not do that before. I could not even lift the blanket let alone fold it. This morning, I even “hit” the pillows.
Now, what other problems do you have? Le: Coughs. Before, I was not able to twist my body around – to the right or left. I would have muscle pull or cramp. Now, no more cramps. After taking the herbs for two days, there are no more body pains.
No more pain anywhere? Le: No more.
So, for the past two days, do you really feel well? Le: Yes. Strong (taking a deep breath).
Do you have any other problem? Le: Only cough now.
