Generally, during the Chinese New Year season, our CA Care family – Yeong & Khadijah from Kuala Lumpur, Pak Teddy from Jakarta and Im and I from Penang – would spend our time together in a city in Indonesia. This time we decided to go to Surabaya and climb Mount Bromo. What an exciting time we had!

This time too, I broke tradition by requesting to meet with our prostate cancer patient in Surabaya. So, on the evening of 13 February 2013, all of us got to meet this patient. Let me share with you his miraculous healing story.

With PSA Above 1,000 You Die!

Gist of our conversation:

  • One year ago, January 2012, patient suffered pain in his backbone which later resulted in not being able to move, sit and walk. Before this episode, patient was an active person and used to walk 7 km every morning.
  • He consulted a neurologist who said his problem was due to rheumatism. The drugs prescribed by the doctor did not cure him.
  • An X-ray and MRI showed bone destruction and the doctor said it was due to bone cancer. Further examination showed the cancer had not spread to the brain or lung.
  • PSA was elevated. The lab report indicated it was more than 100 (which could mean 10,000!).
  • Patient and his family consulted with four doctors and all of them gave different views and advices.
  • In the family, when cancer struck so suddenly like this, everyone was at a loss – not knowing what to do. Different people offered different opinions.  Some said: Go for chemotherapy, while others said: With chemotherapy you die!  Patient considered going to China for treatment and was in the process of applying his passport. But he ended up in Penang instead!
  • How did he get to know CA Care? Patient’s daughter shared her problem with her friends. One of her friends is Pak Budi who happened to be our patient. This patient said: Without Budi, we would have gone for chemo, etc. We didn’t know anything about cancer. Budi told us about you.
  • Did you have friends or know of anyone you have undergone chemotherapy for their cancer? Yes, and they die!
  • According to the doctors, if the PSA has gone above 1,000 the patient would die! And here it is this patient! His initially PSA was 6,962 (as of 22 February 2012). Indeed his prognosis was grim.

Believe the diagnosis but don’t believe the prognosis!

Part 5: Lessons We Can Learn From This Case

On 8 February 2012, I received the e-mail (below) from a lady in Indonesia.

Dear Prof Dr. Chris K. H. Teo,

I am H from Surabaya, Indonesia. My father, 72 years old, was diagnosed have cancer by two doctors in Indonesia. One doctor said it is prostate cancer that had metastatized to his back bone, based on the PSA test result. It was (more than) >100. The other doctor said it is multiple myeloma. My father feels uncomfortable on his back (not his prostate/urine) so it’s difficult for him to take a long journey. Would you mind if I come to meet you without the patient? Hopefully Prof.  Dr. Chris Teo can help us soon. We are now still in Indonesia. If possible to meet, I shall look for flights today to meet you in Penang.

Reply: Yes. Bring all the medical reports / scans, etc. No need to bring the patient. Chris.

Two days later, 10 February 2012, H flew to Penang and presented her father’s case. Sometime in January 2012, her father had pains in his backbone. He consulted a neurologist and was told that it could be due to pinched nerve. He was prescribed medication but this did not help him. Subsequently he did an MRI on 30 January 2012.

Composite-BackboneFinal

MRI report dated 30 January 2012:

  • Multiple malignant bone marrow replacement oleh heterogenous enhanced soft tissue mass pada hampir seluruh cervico-thoraco-lumbrosacral vertebrae, yang melibatkan posterior element and relative disc sparing.
  • Malignant intensity di ala sacrum and iliaca kanan kiri, ischium kiri. DD: proses metastase, multiple myeloma.
  • Level Th9, masa extensi ke posterior (kanan>kiri), dengan destruksi pediket and lamina kanan kiri serta adjacent costae kanan, juga ke neural foramina kanan and paraspinal muscle sisi kanan, sedikit masukj ke intra spinal canal sisi kanan and menyebabkan moderate central canal stenosis di level Th9.

Patient was asked to do a biopsy. He refused. He was asked to undergo chemotherapy. He also refused the treatment.  Patient’s daughter came to a private hospital in Penang for consultation. The doctor suggested orchidectomy, i.e. an operation to remove both testicles. This is actually a medical term for castration and the procedure was going to cost RM 8,000.

Not satisfied, his daughters came to seek our help. Patient was prescribed: Capsule A, Prostate A, deTox, Bone and Pain Teas and Gastric Paste and A-Kid-6 tea.

On 1 March 2012, he was started on Zoladex injection – this cost him IDR 1.5 million (approx. RM 500) each month.

A few months later, patient was started on the e-Therapy.

For a year, we communicated with patient’s daughter via e-mails as below:

22 February 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

We have taken all the medicine you gave to me: Capsule A, Bone tea, Prostate tea, deTox Tea, Pain Tea and we only give him the food that are allowed (vegetables and fruit).

We never do any radiation, chemotherapy or operation.  Since Sunday, my father felt very intense pain. His leg became weak with no strength to walk. And today my father took PSA test again and the result was very high, it was 6962. The result was higher thousand times. What should I do Dr. Chris? Help me please.

Reply:  You came to see me on 10 February now it is 23 February. Your father has taken herbs for less than two weeks. I don’t expect anything to come out of it.

Since Sunday, my father felt very intense pain. He leg became weak with no strength to walk.

YES. Some patients will suffer healing crisis after taking the herbs for a week or two … Did you take the pain tea? How many times a day?

My father took PSA test and the result was very high, it was 6,962. PSA test result was higher thousand times.

You don’t understand the test results.  When it is written PSA >100, it does not mean that the PSA was 100. It can mean a million. That symbol > means more than.  Now you went for a second time it was 6,962. Okay, keep that result. In three months we shall see what happens.

What should I do, Dr. Chris?

Taking one or two week of herbs means nothing. The herbs don’t even work yet. You think it is magic bullet? No.  Only after two or three months can I know if the herbs help or not. But if you like you can go and see the doctors and see what they have to say.

23 February 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

Thank you for your kind attention. Yesterday we’re so depressed. Panic! And felt no hope anymore but your explanation really makes me and my family feel so glad. This is because we really don’t want to undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy. We have high hope that your herbs can heal my father, Dr. Chris. We will be more patient and of course only eat healthy food that is allowed. One more time, thank you very much.

15 March 2012: Dear Prof. Chris,

He has backache and his hip feel uncomfortable. Both his legs can’t move.  But if we touch his legs, he can feel that. In this case, is it correct to say that my father’s legs are paralyzed (lumpuh)? Is it because of the cancer or because he sleeps too much? It has been almost 2.5 months he rarely walks – just only sleeps or sits down, because of his backache. Because his can’t move his legs, he has difficulty sleeping. He can only sleep in one position (sleeping position) for about an hour, after that we need to change him to another position otherwise his leg will be become numb (mati rasa, kemeng). Help me Dr. Chris, because my father feels depressed, he can’t move his legs, he never need anyone to help in life until this three weeks. What should we do?  Thanks you for your attention.

1 April 2012: Dear Prof. Chris,

On 29 March 2012 my father did PSA test and the result was 3,103. On 22 February it was 6,962. He started taking your herb on 13 Febuary 2012, so it is about 1.5 month and the PSA is down. Thank you Dr. Chris.

But I have problems:

My father can’t walk now. The Indonesian doctors said that his spine marrow / backbone marrow (sumsum tulang belakang) has been damaged by cancer cell, so he can’t move his legs. Help me Dr. Chris. Do you have any herb to repair his backbone marrow / sumsum tulang belakang? Or to help restore the control of his legs?

3 May 2012: Dear Prof. Chris,

Again we did the PSA test on 1 May 2012. And the result was 1,084.

On 2 February 2012, my father ‘s PSA = 6,962

On 29 March 2012, PSA = 3,103

He started taking your herb on 13 February 2012, and after 2.5 month the PSA is down a lot. Thank you Dr. Chris. We all feel really happy, calm, and grateful. My father will continue taking your herbs.

In July or August I plan to meet you. I hope you can tell me what to do to help him walk again. Please one more time. Thank you Dr. Chris.

10 July 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

I just want to give you my father’s latest information. Both his both legs can move now! But if he is tired, he can’t move his legs but still can’t stand up. His kidney test result is good and the hemoglobin increased. Praise the LORD. OK. I will be patient. Thanks for your attention.

23 October 2012: Dear Prof. Chris,

On 18 October 2012, his PSA = 163.7

Last month, 13 September 2012, PSA = 238.6
So it’s down 31% from last month.

Dr. Chris, I want to ask you. My father thinks that there is no need to take Zoladex injection anymore because he feels really painful on his stomach when the doctor gives him the injection. Can he only take your herb? What do you think Dr ? It is ok to do that? As I know after two years, Zoladex can become useless. What if we stop it now, although it’s only been 10 months?

Reply 23 October 2012: Hello H.,

Please tell me first about his health condition now. The last time you told me he can move his legs a bit. What happen now? What about other conditions, like sleep, pain, appetite? Has he improved on that? Okay, the problem about Zoladex. If he takes the injection he has pains in the stomach? For how long? Apart from pains any more problem? After all the answer above, let us decide what to do. Chris.

24 October 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

My father’s condition is better and better every day. He feels no pain on his back anymore. He can sit and watch TV on wheel chair for about two hours every morning and night. He sleeps and eats well. He’s still learning to stand up by himself (but still use braces on his back & both legs). Now we still help him to stand up.

About the Zoladex — in fact my father is afraid of injection — afraid of needle (for Zoladex injection, doctor uses big and long needle. Every time we take him for injection he will be in bad mood. The pain is only at the time that needle is injected. So if you think Zoladex can be stopped, .it will be better. Thank you for your attention.

Reply:  Okay. Thank you for your answers. He has improved — not only his PSA goes down but also his health has improved. I understand about his fear of the injection BUT tell him that the Zoladex may also help him. My experience is that this injection and the herbs make the PSA go down faster. So I think it is good to continue taking the injection. Chris.

26 October 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

About the Zoladex, as your advice, we have decided to continue taking it. Thank you.

About your coming to Surabaya in February 2013, and being willing to meet us, we really appreciate it. Thank you very much Dr. Chris. When will you come to Surabaya, when will you meet us, and what time — can you write me?

My father condition now is better and better:

BEFORE:

  1. Every movement he felt pain in his back when going to sleep and wake up. Can’t sit down for more than 20 minutes.
  2. After a month, the doctor found he has prostate cancer that had metastatized to his back bone. It was difficult to move both his legs. Finally he totally couldn’t move his both legs. That time he had taken the herb for only a month
  3. He found it difficult to sleep because he couldn’t change to other position. Couldn’t move by himself, and felt pain with every movement.

NOW:

  1. He feels better. No pain in his back anymore.
  2. He sleeps better because can move by himself on the bed (but still can’t stand up by himself).
  3. About his appetite, urination — no problem.

I will tell you more about his condition (every development we will write to inform you). Hope he can stand up soon. Thank you very much.

7 November 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

My father condition now is better and better. Every day he goes to my brother’s house. Then he comes back to our house at night. Every week he goes to supermarket or mall with us. Sometimes he goes with us to the restaurant to have dinner (although he doesn’t eat but drinks real coconut!). He is happy to meet every one and happy to go any where  than stays at home. My father still can’t walk. He goes out very day and everywhere, but with wheel chair.

29 November 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

This morning my father took his PSA test and the result was really bad. PSA = 197.9 (last month PSA = 163.7). It increases by 20.89%. Oh my God. All of us were shocked. It was really disappointing. We think my father ate too much peanut – almost every day in last month (steamed/ kacang rebus yang masih ada kulitnya) and also ate fried potato + tempe ( fried with pure coconut oil that we made by ourselves). Some food were made from coconut milk (santan) that we made ourselves too. Do you think all the food above are forbidden? Do you have any suggestion? All the herb are still taken, Zoladex is also given. What should we do?

His condition is the same as before. He goes everywhere (feel no pain in his back) but with wheel chair (we gave him much peanut because peanut contains vitamin B that is good for his legs, it is what we thought). Help me Dr. Chris. My father is down today because of the PSA result. Thank you for your attention.

Reply: Hello H.,

NO, NO peanuts.  I tell all my patients not to eat peanuts! Yes, take care of the diet. Nothing to worry! If you take care of the diet the PSA will come down! Anyway he is okay — so now you learn well — take care of the diet.

One question: Before this problem, did he eat any peanut like he did now ? Did he eat fried potato + tempe ( fried with pure coconut oil that we made by ourselves) some food were made from coconut milk (santan) that we made ourselves too. Did he eat such things before? Chris.

29 November 2012: Yes he took but not too much. Only last month, almost every day he took steamed peanut. But fried tempe + potato (fried by pure coconut oil that we made ourselves) almost every day he took them (I think since June). So Dr. Chris, how about coconut milk? fried tempe? fried potato?

Reply:  Okay, but don’t add sugar — green bean, red bean, okay.

29 November 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

Okay, I will give a big attention to my father’s food. No peanut, just a little santan, try to avoid fried food. About the itchy skin, you are right. My father has keloid on his body. Later (after too much peanut, santan and fried food) he feel itchy more and more on his keloid. Almost every night he felt itchy on his keloid. But that time we don’t know why (we thought it was because it’s hot summer season). So thank you for your attention.

11 January 2013: Dear Dr. Chris,

Yesterday my father took PSAa test and the result was PSA = 176.8. This is about 10.66% down from November but still higher than October.

18 October 2012: PSA = 163.7

29 November 2012: PSA = 197.9

Yesterday, 10 January 2013: PSA=176.8

He doesn’t eat peanut anymore. His condition is better than before. No more pain in his back. Both legs can feel itchy when a mosquito bites them. Last year, his both legs felt nothing. But until now still can’t stand up. In this rainy season, sometimes his right leg feels cramp. Then I use your e-machine to reduce that. Sometime only massage the leg will make it alright. Besides being unable to stand up, all things are okay. He can sleep well (mostly after having fun, going to many places.) But if he only stays at home for two days….he can’t sleep well at night. He takes a pee (bab) every 2-3 days depend on his activity and the fruit he eats.

8 February 2012: Dear Dr. Chris,

First of all, I want to apologize to you. This morning my father took PSA test and the result is really bad. PSA = 200.6 (last month =176.8). So it’s going up. Sorry. He doesn’t eat peanut anymore. My family thought that he always eats fried potato (it’s fried by pure coconut oil). He used to eat potato fried with olive oil.

Almost always cancer patients are told by their doctors to eat thing they like! Dr. Russell Blaylock wrote: Oncologists harm their patients by giving them cancer-promoting nutritional advice.”  Dr. Harvey Kellogg was even more direct when he said: An ordinary pig knows more about diet than the most learned college professor.

Over the years, we, at CA Care have been telling patients to take care of their diet if they wish to win over their cancer.  Those who do benefited but those who don’t pay for the consequences of their follies.

In this case, the patient was doing fine. His PSA was falling down with each passing month – from 6,962 down to 163.7 over a period of about seven months. Then after taking a lot of peanuts, his PSA rose again from 163.7 to 197.9.

At CA Care we advised patients to avoid cashew nuts and peanuts. They are not good for you! Peanut allergy is the most common cause of deaths from food allergy. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=15618

Read this story: Threat from peanut allergy very real.

http://www.today.com/id/21471171/site/todayshow/ns/today-today_health/t/threat-peanut-allergy-very-real/#.USGubh2VP6U

This is our clarion call to all cancer patients: Watch out for your diet even if you seem to be recovering well from your cancer!  Being told to eat anything you like is bad /wrong advice!

Cancer patients are often told not to take herbs while on medical treatment. Again Dr. Russell Blaylock has this to say: Oncologists forbid patients to take supplements or herbs while on treatment… This is base on ignorance – not valid scientific facts or studies.

Over the years I have seen that patients who are on our therapy (herbs + diet) fared far better than those who are on medical treatment alone! In this case even the doctor who gave monthly Zoladex injection to the patient was amazed   (or shocked) at the spectacular drop of his PSA.  The doctor asked to see our herbs!

I have learned of this synergistic effect between our herbs and hormonal therapy many years ago. In our book, Prostate Cancer Healed Naturally, I have documented other similar cases.

  •  A prostate cancer patient in England had his PSA reduced from 107 to 0.5 (yes, zero point five) after three months on our herbs plus hormonal injection. The patient wrote: According to our GP and the consultant urologist that we met with yesterday afternoon this is exceptional and very much against the odds. Our consultant who is 55-years plus stated that during his lifetime in practice he had never before witnessed such an aggressive PSA de-escalation that I experienced. He used words such as fantastic, excellent.
  • Tom is a 58-year old man from New Zealand. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his back bones. His PSA was 140 plus. With the CA Care Therapy and hormonal injection his PSA tumbled down from 140 + to 0.75 within three months.
  • Back in Malaysia, we have a 52-year-old patient who came to us with his PSA at 674.5. He was started on our herbs and Goserelin injection in April 2002. Two months later, 14 June 2002, his PSA tumbled down to 2.6.

Three Sisters With Cancer: One Died Two Alive and Well – WHY?

On 16 November 2012, I had a chance to sit down for a chat with Henry (not real name).  This is our conversation that day.

Let me highlight some of things that we talked about that day.

Henry has four sisters in his family. Sister No:1 was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2010. She was the third member of the family to have cancer. Sister No:3  had breast cancer about ten years ago. She was the first member of the family to have cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy and died within a year. Then Sister No: 4 had breast cancer in April 2004 – the second  member of the family with cancer.

Dramatically we can put it this way (this is what the number-professionals do, i.e., massage and sweeten the data):

  • 75 percent of the sisters ended up with cancer; and
  • 50 percent had breast cancer.

Let us hope that this is NOT the kind of statistics the world has to contend with in the future.

Sister No: 1 with Lung Cancer – Alive

She was 66 years old.  On 7 June 2010 her CA 19.9 was at 191.0. On 17 June 2010 a trucut biopsy confirmed she had lung cancer.

Chris: It is about two and a half years now, is she okay?

Henry: According to the CT scan, the tumour had grown smaller.

C: All these years, did she ever face any problem?

H: No problem at all.

C: And she did not go for any treatment – chemo or anything else?

H: Nothing, except taking your herbs.

C: Did she take care of her diet?

H: Yes. She took care of her diet and so far no problem.

C: I have not met her before.

H: No, no. All her problems seemed to go away. The cholesterol level went down, high blood pressure down and sugar level down after a few months on the herbs. Everything became normal.

C: Amazing!

H:  She started off with a big tumour in her lung and now it has gone smaller.

Doctor said: Operate and chemo – otherwise you will die within 3 months

H: The doctor said she only has 3 months.

C: What do you mean?

H: The doctor told my sister if you don’t do chemo you will die within 3 months. And I told my sister if you want to live listen to me, don’t listen to the doctor. I told her if you operate, you die within 3 months! The doctor wanted to operate on her and then do chemo. The doctor didn’t want to give us back her medical report. I called the doctor and argued with him. If you don’t want to release the report, I shall make a police report. But I hope we don’t have to go to that extent. We just want the medical report back. The doctor asked me:  What do you want to do? Go to another hospital? I told the doctor, we wanted to go for alternative medicine. He said: What is it? I replied: I have no problem sharing with you on this but I believe you are not interested to hear about this. He even asked me: Are you a doctor?  No, no, I am not.

C: You mean you called the doctor and said all these?

H: Yes. I argued and argued. I told him I wanted to do a police report. Then I would come to see him with the police to get the medical report. That is the worst thing I can do. Ah, then he agreed to give us back the report.

C: I cannot understand this. You paid for his services, for the scan, etc. These are yours.

H: Money, money! He was asking for RM 60,000 plus for the treatment.

C: To do the surgery and the chemo?

H: Yes. I told her doctor: My sister did not have the money, but I have the money. But this is not about money. It is about life. The doctor said: What do you mean? I said: You do chemo you die! You operate you die! The doctor countered: But you are not a doctor! I answered him: Yes, I am not a doctor but I have read and I have experiences to tell me so. Then the doctor said to me:  You don’t do, you only have 3 months. I told the doctor: If you insist, I shall bring her to see you after 3 years!

Lung tumour shrunk – Started CA Care Therapy on 2 July 2010

C: Are you sure that the tumour has shrunk?

H: Yes, yes. After about one and a half years but I don’t know exactly when.

C: Amazing but nobody is going to believe what you have said.

H: I told my sister’s daughter to ask the doctor two questions and get straight answers from him:

  1. Is her current condition under control? I want that answer.
  2. Do we still continue to do what we are currently doing based on this result?

C:  Did you go back to the same doctor (who you argued with earlier)?

H: No, no.

C: Tell me again. When the doctor said she only has 3 months, did you talk to the doctor personally?

H: Yes. He also told my sister’s son: If you don’t operate you only have 3 months. Then they (family members) made a lot of noise. You see, the eldest son (my nephew) is almost the same age as me. The son wanted to follow the doctor’s advice. But my sister knew the experiences of what our two other sisters had gone through. My sister trusted me because I am the most educated in our family. Generally our family members will consult me and ask for advice.

C: Your sister wanted to follow you but her son wanted to follow the doctor? So you all fight?

H: No need to fight. I told my nephew. I am paying for your mother’s medical treatment. If you want to pay for her bills you go ahead! As simple as that! If your mother takes the herbs, I pay for her. If you want to go for medical treatment you pay! You take the full responsibility. Just look at your auntie (our 4th sister) – she is doing so well.

C: Request from CA Care. If you have a chance, please bring her complete medical reports / scans. We would like to make a study of this case.

Sister No: 3 with Breast Cancer – Died after surgery, chemo and radiation

C: The first time. Your sister No: 3 –  you didn’t know (what to do)?

H:  I did not have any experience with cancer before that. But actually I already knew about you but I was not sure – it did not come to my mind. They did not consult me. She went for surgery and chemo without letting me know. I did not know about it.  Only after the (recurrence) and the second round of chemo that they told me about it.

C: Where do they live? From kampung (village)?

H: Yes, kampong.

C: Kampung people are very simple minded and they will follow whatever the doctors say.

H: I also brought her to Kuala Lumpur and talked to the oncologist there. At that time I did not know much about this.

C: Fair enough. You have to pay to learn.

H: Then I started to read. I have already known  you after the TV and newspapers appearances.

Sister No: 4 with Breast Cancer – Still alive and well on CA Care Therapy

His 4th sister had breast cancer and underwent an operation to remove her breast. She was then asked to undergo chemo and radiotherapy, Henry objected to these treatments and brought his sister to see us in May 2004. More of this story in: https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2010/12/09/after-mastectomy-chau-took-herbs-and-changed-her-diet-her-sister-died-after-medical-treatment/ As of this writing, 2012 – more than 8 years now, this sister is still doing fine. She is the second member of the family to have cancer.

C: So when the second one had cancer, you knew exactly what to do?

H: She went for the operation and then the doctor told her to go for chemo. She called me and I told her: If you want to live, you listen to me. Our third sister is an example for you already.

C: Yes, I remember that –both of you were here arguing about chemo! Now this sister is in Johor Baru – is she fine today? I was told she did not work anymore?

H:  She is a volunteer (in a Buddhist organisation). Before she had cancer, she was a manager in a plastic company. She resigned her job after she had breast cancer.  She is doing fine. She is normal and goes for blood test regularly. Nothing wrong with her.

Comments

From Henry’s story, it seems that an encounter with the doctor can be as tragic as being told that you have cancer.  Why the arrogance – why the threat or instilling of fear? That unfortunately is the way patients are “beaten” into submission. And such unfortunate incidents happened not only in Malaysia but everywhere too! Dr. Morton Walker, D.P.M., (in  Cancer’s cause, cancer’s cure)  wrote about his experience with the oncologists at the  Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA.

  • I was astounded at how distorted the physicians’ presentations … The doctors appeared to become almost like used-car salesmen in a pitch for their surgery, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.  I know something about medical practices and oncology from my work as a medical researcher and as a former practicing podiatrist. In my opinion, the information the oncologists gave my fiancee was hardly an honest assessment of the relative benefits and risks associated with the recommended treatments … Both radiation and chemotherapy oncologists went about selling their separate treatments to the patient, her sons, and me … The oncologists were steadfast in their declarations. I knew they were lying.

5-b--Doc-like-car-salesman-

Often to keep patients in line or quiet, they will say: You doctor or I doctor?  Henry was not intimidated by such remark. In fact I would say the doctor had barked at the wrong tree! No amount of bullying, threat or fear-mongering is going to make Henry toe the doctor’s line. Henry knew better through his own experience. His third sister had breast cancer – undergone surgery, chemo and radiation. Within a year she was dead. Do you really have to die within a year?  Even if you do nothing you don’t die from breast cancer within a year!

When his fourth sister again had breast cancer he would not want her to travel the same road again. His sister did not go for chemo or radiation although she was under pressure for months by the doctor to do so. I knew of this because she was my patient.  So when Henry’s first sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, and the doctor said she only had 3 months to live if she did not go for surgery and chemo, Henry knew the game just too well. No amount of pressure was going to work on him.

You don’t need an MD to understand things. What you need is just to have commonsense. It was commonsense that enabled Henry to tell his sister that if you want to live you listen to me but you want to die then listen to the doctor.

Henry had learnt his lesson. When his third sister died, he knew why. He began to read books and learned from what others have got to say, besides reflecting on his own experiences.  Unfortunately knowledge does not come easy served on a silver platter. You need to do your part to be learned and be knowledgeable. Read and read and read – that’s the only answer.

Unfortunately not many people like to read.  Why don’t people want to read? To them ignorance is bliss. Why want to know so much? Let the doctors take care, they know best. Reflect again seriously on the three quotations above!

And to those who want an easy way out, good luck!

Part 2: Experience with Iressa & Tarceva While on CA Care Therapy

Lung Cancer: An Outstanding Survivor

This case study consists of four parts:
Part 1: Tragedy struck again and again.
Part 2: Experience with Iressa & Tarceva while on CA Care Therapy.
Part 3: Side effects of medical treatment and attitude of doctors.
Part 4: Can the e-Therapy help him?

After encountering disaster after disaster, Sujo had no choice but to turn to the “cancer doctor” in his hometown for help. Initially he was prescribed Iressa, which he took for 10 days and gave up due to the side effects. He then moved on to Tarceva.

Chris:  You stopped taking all those herbs and supplements after all the problems. What did you do after that?

Daughter: We went to see a “cancer doctor” (in Medan).

Patient: Iressa was not good for me. I bought 10 tablets.

D: The doctor recommended Iressa. We tried it but it was not suitable for him.

C: You took 10 tablets – for only 10 days?

P: After I took Iressa,  I developed itchy blisters on my back.

C: Then you stopped the Iressa and switched to Tarceva – the doctor gave them to you?

D:  He only gave the prescription.

C: Ten tablets and you paid 7 million plus rupiahs?

P: More than 7 million rupiahs.

C: After you switched to Tarceva, were you better off?

Wife:  He had less bad effects.

C: In addition you also took medication for the bone?

P: I took the pill for the bone for about a month.

D: Then the next month, we switched to injection for the bone. The injection was done once a month. So far he had received a total of 7 injections.  After the Tarceva he was able to get up again.

C: How long were you on Tarceva to be able to do that?

P: I bought 3 boxes of Tarceva – that is a supply for 3 months – each box for a month.

D: A box cost 16.5 million rupiahs.

P: The first month, I used up one box – taking one tablet a day. The second month, I only took 15 tablets for the month. The third month, I only took 10 tablets per month.

D: In addition to Tarceva, we still continued to take your herbs.

C: Oh, you still continue to take my herbs while on Tarceva.

D: Yes.

W: The fourth month, he took 10 tablets per month.

C:  You bought 3 boxes – have you finished taking all the tablets?

P: No,  I still have 5 more tablets to go!

C: Who asked you to reduce the dosage like that?

D: We do this by ourselves. I told my father about the possible bad effects.

C: While taking Tarceva like this, you said you still continued taking my hebs?

D & W: Yes, yes.

C: After taking Tarceva,  you were able to get up and also walk? What about the CEA?

P: It decreased.

W: The CEA dropped to 90 plus.

P: The CEA dropped to 97 from the previous 800 plus.

C: While you were doing this – did you encounter any problem?

P: No.

C: While you were taking Tarceva, did you feel you were getting better?

P: Yes.

W (nodding): Better.

D: While he was on Tarceva, he still took care of his diet.

C: When exactly did you feel you get back your life? You could walk, you could climb the stairs – when exactly did this happen?

D: About a month after taking Tarceva.  He was able to walk up the stairs again.

C: Only a month on Tarceva and he was well again?

D: Yes.

C: One month on Tarceva – that was when he was still on full dosage – one tablet per day. The next month you halved the dosage, that is taking only 15 tablets per month. What happened to you – okay?

P: I was okay.

C: When you took 10 tablets per month – what happened?

P: I was also okay. When I was on 5 tablets per month, I was also okay. Now, I am only on 5 tablets per month. I am still okay.

C: I am really amazed. What happen if you don’t take any tablet at all?

D (shaking head): We don’t know.

C: When you were on such low dosage, how did you feel?

P: Nothing – no problem.  My health was as usual – stable.

C: Your condition while on full dosage (30 tablets per month) until 5 tablets per month – you felt the same all the time?

P: Yes, all the same. No difference.

D: While my father was taking Tarceva, he still continued to take Dr. Chris’ herbs as usual.

C: I am really amazed. By right you would have problems with your lungs. But over the past two years plus you have no problems with your lungs! How could this be?

Again, I say, this is an amazing story of an amazing survivor.  Sujo had met disaster after disaster in trying to find his healing. He and his family did not give up – indeed they showed their determination of steel. They are not the kiasus and kiasi (afraid to loose and afraid to die) type.  Granted, life is learning through experience. We do make mistakes – the kiasus and kiasi want to be in control of everything all the time, wanting to ensure that things would work according to what they want. Unfortunately life does not work that way – particularly so when dealing with cancer. Nothing follows the way you want it to be. Each person takes on the cancer journey on his / her own accord and comes out with an experience unique to his / her own.

3 No-right-or-wrong-journey

10 Decide-what-is-right-for-yo

I am indeed humbled from Sujo’s experience and I have learnt some important lessons from him. Let me elaborate.

1. Gurdjieff was perhaps truly right when he said, The wise man is not educated, and the educated man is not wise. Sujo and his wife had probably not gone beyond high school in life yet they are wise in their ways. They have a lot of common sense that is much to be admired. They stretched things to the limit and if it was a mistake retreated! Many people are dumb – they keep on repeating the same mistake and expected different results!

2. They say desperate people do desperate things. Indeed Sujo was desperate after facing disaster after disaster. In the end he turned to a “cancer doctor” for help. That is a wise move.  He tried Iressa and found it did not work well for him. He switched to Tarceva. That is to be expected because that is about all that any cancer doctor could offer. But remember, Sujo did not forget to take our herbs even when he was doing something else. In our conversation, Sujo’s daughter kept reminding me that her father continued to take our herbs and took care of his diet.  He had been on our therapy for the past two years (since October 2010) and still had faith in what we do!  I wonder why they believe in us so much? Perhaps from their own experience, they felt our therapy did help them in some ways.

3. Take note that while taking Tarceva, Sujo was also taking our herbs. This is something most oncologists say, YOU MUST NOT do. Their command, No herbs while on chemotherapy, which according to Dr. Blaylock is based on ignorance and probably on arrogance too!  Fortunately, Sujo lives in Indonesia and I know from patients that some doctors in that country are more “open and tolerant “ to and sometimes even supportive of alternative therapies. In this case, Sujo had shown that taking herbs while on Tarceva is okay! NOTHING went  wrong and nothing to fear! So what is the fuss about? Some skeptics may say, One swallow does not make a summer. Let me tell you – there is also a similar case that happened in a hospital in Jakarta. He was also down with lung cancer and was in the hospital. He took herbs instead of doctor’s chemo. Then he took Iressa and came out very much alive like Sujo. That’s two swallows. And I have many more other swallows flying around!

5 Oncologsit-harm-patients

4. Over the years, I have come across many cases of patients taking Iressa and Tarceva and they failed miserably. Read these stories:

Metastatic Lung Cancer: Meaningless Fall and Rise of CEA With Iressa and Tarceva
Lung Cancer: After One-and-half Years of Iressa, He Moved to Tarceva
Lung Cancer and the Side Effects of Iressa
Lung Cancer: The Meaningless Decrease and Increase of Tumour Markers After Chemotherapy
Meaningless Decline of CA 15.3 and Tumour Shrinkage Following Treatment With Iressa and Tarceva

When I first started CA Care I encouraged patients to follow what their oncologists want them to do. Go for surgery, chemo or radiotherapy! But with time, my world view of cancer treatment begun to change based on what my patients tell me, what I saw happened and what were written by medical doctors themselves.  I am not a fanatic and I don’t belong to any “Vested Interest” group. I shall call a spade a spade and my world views on cancer are “tuned” based on facts and observations that I have. Thus far, I must admit I am never an enthusiastic supporter of patients taking Iressa or Tarceva.  After all according to the medical literature these drugs do not cure lung cancer at all. Iressa was shown not to do anything much for cancer patients. Tarceva did a bit better – prolonging survival of lung cancer patients by 2.8 months. But the benefit of taking Iressa or Tarceva comes with a heavy toll. You have to endure the toxic side effects. Besides, for the ordinary man, the cost of the drug can make a hole in your pocket or bank account. They are not cheap!

However, over the past one year, I have encountered two case of lung cancer. One man took Iressa while taking herbs at the same time. He did extremely well. And now I see Sujo doing well after taking Tarceva while on our herbs. Must I now change my world view about these two drugs? Yes – of course.  Those of you who want to try your luck with Tarceva or Iressa , I say – Go ahead! But before you do that, please study this case carefully and learn from Sujo’s experience. Also I urge you to read another case which I presented in Chapter 11 Lung-Bone-Brain Cancer: When Doctor and Herbalist Collaborate Miracle Happens, of my book:

Cancer-Is-there-another-opt

(Available at http://bookoncancer.com/productDetail.php?P_Id=56)

 5. Before I go to my next point, let me ask you to reflect on this quotation:

7-Never-ask-why-Mathing-num

Many people are not interested to know why or to ask why – it’s a waste of time! Also asking why threatens the status quo! If you find the answer you have to change your worldview – i.e., if you are man enough! Most people don’t want to change! To most people if I don’t learn “this stuff” in school then it cannot be true. Anything out of the norm is just hogwash or snake oil. But a scientist worth his salt would want to dig deeper to know why. Why did Sujo NOT continue to take the full dose of Tarceva after knowing that the drug was helping him? Anyone would say it’s crazy to stop doing what you are doing when what you are doing is helping you. Why stop?  I asked Sujo – who asked you to reduce the Tarceva dosage? The daughter said they did it themselves without being told by anyone. That was taking a bold step indeed – or even taking a great risk!

I guess at the initial stage Sujo was desperate. He had no choice but to take Iressa and later Tarceva. But I believe he also knew from the very beginning that he was taking poison. So after a month, after the poison has done its job,  Sujo thought there was no reason to continue taking the poison much more! More does NOT mean better. So Sujo reduced the dosage into half, and gradually ended up taking only 5 tablets per month.  His 3-month supply of Tarceva was stretched to a year!

If you think Sujo is dumb or crazy, read what happened to these two patients.

  1. As I am writing this article, there is a 42-year man from Kuala Lumpur who came to see me . He had lung cancer that had spread to the bone – just as bad a situation as Sujo. He took Iressa in November 2011. A month later, CT showed that the tumour and lymph nodes had reduced in size. He continued taking Iressa at full dosage. Three months later, March 2012, a CT scan showed the disease was stable. But in May 2012, CT scan showed disease progression – i.e., more tumours grew elsewhere and the lymph nodes grew bigger. More does not mean good or better!
  2. Kathy is a 44-year-old Indonesian lady. She had a 4.39 x 4.67 x 4.54 cm tumour in her right lung. She took Iressa in December 2010. With Iressa the mass started to shrink until the size could not be measured. She continued taking Iressa at the same dosage for another seven months until August 2011 when her health deteriorated. The mass in the lung that had “apparently” disappeared grew back to twice its original size. Again, more poison did make the cancer would go away at all.

Perhaps Sujo was right! Brilliant idea indeed! I salute him!

No one in his wildest dream would ever do what Sujo did. But Sujo did it and he came out a winner and a survivor. Dare you say he is wrong? To me Sujo’s brilliant stroke of insight is like a spark that could light a fire to great discovery and rethinking for cancer treatment! Or is it? Given the world as it is today, this fire will be promptly extinguished. To the vested interests this suggestion is dumb. If lung cancer patients were to start doing what Sujo did, do you think the doctors, hospitals, pharmacists and drug companies like it?

Lung Cancer: An Outstanding Survivor

Part 1: Tragedy Struck Again and Again

This case study consists of four parts:
Part 1: Tragedy struck again and again.
Part 2: Experience with Iressa & Tarceva while on CA Care Therapy.
Part 3: Side effects of medical treatment and attitude of doctors.
Part 4: Can the e-Therapy help him?

The night of Sunday 18 November 2012 was one special night for me! Sujo, his wife and daughter suddenly appeared! I looked at him with amazement. Let me confess – I never ever thought that I would see this patient again. The last time I saw Sujo was in February 2011. Now it is November 2012. That is almost two years! The only thing I can say at this moment is– I am really happy to see him. Thank the Almighty God for this blessing.

I have written a story about Sujo earlier, Lung Cancer: Pain and Sleepless Night after Chinese New Year Dinner

https://cancercaremalaysia.com/2011/02/22/lung-cancer-pain-and-sleepless-night-after-chinese-new-year-dinner/

Let me briefly outline his earlier story..

  • Sujo (M858) was 58 years old when he first came to see us. He is from Indonesia. Sometime in August 2010, he complained of breathlessness when climbing the stairs.  A CT scan in October 2010 indicated gross left pleural effusion associated with severe lung collapse. There was lesion at T4 vertebral body associated with erosion. This means the cancer had already spread to his bones.
  • While in a private hospital A in Penang, the doctor tapped out two liters of fluid from his lung. This treatment cost him RM 10,000. His blood test on 21 October 2010 showed CEA = 85.86 and CA19.9 = 78.6. Sujo was asked to undergo chemotherapy. He went to a cancer hospital, signed all the papers and was ready to do what was told. But the night before chemotherapy, he and his family decided not to go ahead with the treatment.
  • A friend in Medan told Sujo  about CA Care. On 22 October 2010, Sujo came to seek our help and was prescribed Capsule A, Lung 1 and 2 teas, Bone Tea and C-tea. After taking these herbs, Suja came back to see us twice and reported that his health had improved. He was able to eat, sleep and walk quite a  distance without any problem. His breathlessness had resolved. His bowels movements were good.
  • After a few months on our herbs, Sujo started to have fevers. He came back to Penang and was admitted to Hospital B. He saw a lung specialist who did a CT scan and told him nothing could be done except to go for chemotherapy.  Not satisfied, Sujo saw another specialist in the same hospital.  Another scan was done. This doctor agreed to operate on Sujo. After the surgery, Sujo was asked to undergo chemotherapy but he promptly refused. The doctor was upset and insisted that Sujo undergo chemotherapy. Again Sujo flatly refused chemotherapy.
  • On the eve of the Chinese New Year (CNY, 2011) Sujo took chicken curry (only the gravy not the chicken). Besides he also ate steam fish with salted beans (tau chiau). Two days later, on the morning of the second day of CNY, he suffered severe pains.  Sujo said: “I am very tolerant to pain. But this pain was so severe that I cried. I have never cried before in my life.” He had to sit upright and the pain lasted from 8 to 9 p.m. until 3 a.m.  Then he would fall asleep for about 2 hours. He had pains every day.  Sujo took the painkiller, Tramadol. But the medication did not relieve his pains. Sujo confirmed that before this dinner, he did not have any pain at all. The pains only came after the misadventure during the CNY’s dinner.
  • Sujo came to see us on 13 February 2011. He presented with severe pains in the back and shoulder blade. He had partially lost his voice. For the past 8 days or so, he was not able to sleep. Seeing Sujo’s condition, we put him on the e-therapy right away. All his pains disappeared after 4 sessions of the e-therapy. Sujo was well after this. He was able to walk around, ride the motorcycle, etc. His life was back to normal again.

Tragedy Struck Again and Again

Listen to our conversation during his visit in November  2012.

Chris: Wah, you can walk now! For how long have been walking?

Patient: For 3 months now.

C: Wah, you have also put on weight. Actually, you are really fortunate and blessed!

Curse of the Seven-Needle-Leaf

C: The last time I saw you was when you came after Chinese New Year, 2011 in pain because you ate something “wrong.” You used the e-Therapy machine and the pains went away. You went home and everything was all right. You could ride the motor-bike, etc. Then what happened? You ate something wrong again?

P: I took Seven-Needle Leaf.

C: Who asked you to take that? How long were you taking that?

P: I took it for 5 days. My friend said this would help cancer patient. I took seven leaves, munched them and swallowed them.

C: What happened after 5 dyas?

Daughter: He could not walk after that!

C: Before taking the leaves, were you okay? Can walk?

P: I was okay, no problem.

Wife:  Yes, he was able to walk up the stairs.

C: After 5 days taking the seven-needle, what happened?

P: My legs “went soft” – no strength.

D: He landed in bed – could not walk.

C: Before taking the seven-needle, were you able to walk?

P: Yes, I could walk. I could ride the motor-bike even.

Bone Surgery and Radiotherapy in Penang

D: He had to be hospitalized in Medan. The doctor said the cancer had spread to his bone.

C: Then you came to Penang and had surgery. Before the surgery, did the doctor say he could cure you?

P: He said,  “50:50 chance”.

W: Even after the operation, his legs just collapse when he bent his knees. No strength. He could not stand up all. Actually even before the surgery, he already could not stand up.

C: How much do you have spent for the surgery?

W: About 70 to 80 million rupiahs.

D: He also underwent radiotherapy after the surgery.

W: Radiation for 5 times.

C: After the surgery, any more problems – any pain?

P: No pain, but my legs were numb. Later, my legs started to shake vigorously by themselves.

C: And your legs still shake now?

P: Yes, even to this day.

W: When he turned to the left or right, the legs would just tremble.

C: After the surgery, you still could not stand up?

D: No and the legs became thinner and thinner.

C: At home you just stay in bed and could not walk?

W: He could not walk – always sleeping on the bed. I have to lift him up whenever he wanted to move his bowels.

C: How long were you in such a situation?

P: For more than a year.

C: More than a year? – Wah! immobolised for more than a year. It must be very difficult for you all.

W & P: Yes, very difficult.

C: Were you able to eat? Any pain?

P: Can eat, no pain.

D: Only could not walk and his legs were numb.

W: His legs trembled and trembled.

Acupuncture Did Not Help

C: So for a year plus lying on the bed – what else did you do?

D: Continued to take your herbs and then went for Acupuncture – 2 to 3 times a week.

C: How long were you on Acupuncture treatment?

P: About two months.

C: Did the Acupuncture help you?

P: No.

C: During the whole year in such a condition, did you continue taking our herbs?

W: Yes! He continued taking your herbs.

C: Did you go and see any doctor at all during this time?

P: No, no.

C: Let me ask you – all this while you have problems with your legs, but what about your lungs? Any problem – was your breathing okay?

P: I had no problems with my lungs.

W: No breathlessness, no phlegm – nothing!

Alternative Treatment from a Batak Herbalist

C: Now, lying on the bed unable to move for a year plus – then what made you well again?

D: We went for alternative medicine.

C: Before going for alternative treatment, you were still not able to walk?

D:  Couldn’t walk and he was getting thinner and thinner.

C: What was this alternative medicine?

D: Herbs from a Batak herbalist. He lives in the northern part of Medan.  The herbalist said the blood flow was blocked. So he gave herbs that he formulated himself. This comes in the shape of small round pellets.

W: A day we need to take 9 pellets – 3 each time. Then there was also a liquid for external application.

D: This is also herbs and we need to mix with water and apply to the body and legs.

C:  Are these herbs expensive?

P: No! One packet can last for one year! And it cost 5.8 million rupiahs.

C: Wah, that is cheap! And it is for a year’s supply. But why do need a year’s supply?

P: He told me to take the herbs for a year to get the best results.

C: But you took the herbs for only 5 months – initially what happened?

P: I passed out a lot of wind.

C: Did you get any better?

P: Yes, I could bend my knees and my legs did not collapse anymore.

W: He could also stand up.

C: Before taking the herbs, you were not able to stand up or walk?

P & W: No, no. After taking the herbs my legs were stronger and did not collapse anymore!

W: He could lift up his legs high.

P: I could stand up and started to walk slowly using a walking stick.

C: Okay, before taking the herbs, you could not walk at all?

W: No, no, cannot.

C: You took this Batak herbs for 5 months, did you still continue taking my herbs?

W: Yes, yes.

C: During those 5 months, did you have any problem with your lungs? Did you feel breathless?

P: No, no.

C: That means my herbs and this man’s (Batak) herbs can be taken at the same time. Then, why did you stop taking the Batak herbs after 5 months. Why did you not continue?

P: After a blood test, the CEA shot up to more than 800! When I came to Penang earlier on, the CEA was only 80 plus.

C: With CEA at 800 plus, did you feel anything bad?

P: No, I felt nothing.

D: His stomach felt bloated.

W: The stomach felt a bit harder. Looked like there was wind.

Another Disaster – the Cell Food

D: After the increase in CEA, he started to take supplement – Cell Food. He took one bottle a day.

W: A bottle cost 400,000 rupiahs. He took 3 bottles.

D: He started to have blisters.

W: Then he could not get  up from bed.

P: I have no strength like before again.

C: Before you took that Cell Food, you could wake up? After the Cell Food you “collapse” once again?

P: Yes.

W: He was not able to wake up or turn around – left or right. Very difficult.

C: Did you ask the Cell Food people why?

D:  They said it was the “healing crisis.”

C: Oh, very good answer! Why did you not continue taking it?

P: No, no. I am afraid!

Comments

I have great admiration, respect, and empathy for Sujo, his wife and family members. In their own simple ways, they showed a determination of steel to find healing. Over the period he laid immobolised  in bed in Medan, I did get news about his well being. His wife, brother or sister came to our center and collected herbs for him and kept us informed about his well being.  Then on 18 November – Sujo, his wife and daughter came to Penang. It was a wonderful meeting. I was sorry that I could not offer him much help when he was bed-ridden but I am glad that all ends well.  Now, our attention is to try and help him regain this muscular mobility using the e-Therapy.

I must admit that I did not expect Sujo to make it at all. If we were to study the images of his lungs (below), how could we expect him to live without problem?  But the truth is – he did survive and it is beyond expectation.

Lung-compo-1

Lung-compo-2

There are a few lessons we can learn from this case.

  1. Many patients wrote me emails asking my opinion about this product and that product – mostly those direct-selling stuff. I am sorry I cannot tell you whether you should take them or not. This is because it is not my job to go around commenting on other people’s products. I only work and research on my herbs and there is enough job on hand for me to do for the next hundred years! So, please don’t write to ask me about my opinion on things like This Factor or That Factor, or This Grass or That Grass.  Sujo tried some supplements and he got burnt.  So if you believe what others say or recommend, then try it and find out for yourself. No need to be a kiasu!
  2. Let me also clarify that I am not against you taking any supplements or going for any other alternative therapies. Go ahead and try them if you like. Then I hope you can share your experience with us by writing in your blog or email.  This is what Sujo did and we should be grateful for that – at least he is honest enough to share his story. From my heart, I wish that ALL that Sujo took or did – like Seven-Needle Leaf, Cell Food, Acupuncture, etc., would have helped him. Unfortunately, in his case, they did not. You may have better luck.
  3. Though the herbs from the Batak herbalist was abandoned, I believe it did help Sujo in some ways.
Without that herb to start with, Sujo could still be bed-ridden.  It is unfortunate that his CEA was elevated. There must be a reason for that – I love to study why! But in the meantime, I want to say that I have full admiration for this herbalist. He is not a “crude money sucker!”  For a year’s supply, his herbs only cost 5.8 million rupiahs.  There are a lot of “medications” out there in the market that cost a hundred times more than this herb and yet are worthless! A least this Batak herbalist is not after your money. He is honorable!
  4. And for those who think their ways are “more scientific or more proven ” perhaps you may wish to take a pause and ask , How could a few pellets of herbal concoction make a bed-ridden patient get up and walk, even when surgery and radiotherapy could not even help a bit? Let us not underestimate or take for granted the wisdom of the “bomohs and bushmen” – they could do more than what we thought our science and technology can ever solve.

Mom With Lung Cancer: Surprise! Surprise! Four Years on Herbs and Still Doing Well!

SC (H222) was 68 years old when her problem started. She is a non-smoker. She started to have coughs for the past six months. There were no other symptoms apart from pains at the right shoulder blade.  A CT scan on 4 September 2008 showed a  3.0 x 4.75 x 3.0 cm opacity in right middle lobe of her lungs, suggestive of a neoplastic mass. Bronchial brushings showed moderately large neoplastic cells. Her blood test was normal, apart from a mildly elevated CEA (8.0).

CT scan on 4 September 2008.

SC underwent a CT scan of her brain and abdomen and these were normal. Her bone scan was negative for metastasis.

Her doctor suggested surgery since this was regarded as an early stage lung cancer, Stage 1B. Surgery was done on 29 September 2008 but it was aborted – an open and close case. The cancer had spread to the back of the chest wall and was now considered a Stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor suggested chemotherapy and said that without this treatment she would only have six months to live. SC declined chemotherapy. Her sister died one year after undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for her breast cancer.

SC came to seek our help on 18 October 2008 and was started on Capsule A, Lung 1 and Lung 2 teas. SC has been taking our herbs ever since – four years now.

We received this email from her daughter on 9 August 2012.

Hi Prof Chris, Im

Last week, my brother and I took Mom to see Prof X, the doctor who referred Mom for surgery back in September 2008.   We last saw him in October 2008 when we went back to him after Mom has recovered from the open-close surgery.   At that time, he recommended chemo which we did not go for.

I still remember the conversation that we had with Prof X back in October 2008 when I asked him what will happen if we decided not to go for chemo.  He mentioned then that at stage 4, a patient will generally have 6 months to live or at the most 2 years. When I asked him what will happen if we decided to go for chemo. He was unable to give a reasonable answer. And we never went back since then.

As Mom was complaining that the pain was still there even after we tried the ‘Soothanol’, we decided to take her to see Prof X hoping that he can prescribe something to ease her pain.

The following was what transpired:

When we went inside his office, Prof X was flipping back and forth what seems to be Mom’s file.  I was surprised that they still managed to find Mom’s file after 4 years.
He looked up from his file and read out Mom’s name.

Prof X:  Chan Saw Chun  …. (scanning our faces)

Kim:  Yes… this is my mother (I gestured to my Mom)

Prof X gave Mom a look, gestured her to sit down and then went back to the file, which understandably does not contain any information post 2008.

Prof X:  You were last here in October 2008 … (he was trying to recall).

Kim:  Yes

Prof X:  What happened since then?  Did you go to another hospital?

Kim:  No

Prof X:  What happened?  (We could see that he was scanning Mom with a look of bewilderment)

Kim:  You recommended chemo but we decided not to do the chemo.  So, we did not come back.

Prof X:  Are you seeing any doctor? (He was still having this bewildered look on his face)

Kim:  No.

Prof X:  You look good Auntie (speaking to Mom).  Prof X repeated: You did not see any doctor?
Kim:  No, the only “doctor” that we saw was Prof Chris.  My mother is taking his herbs.

Prof X quickly scribbled your name on Mom’s file.

Prof X:  Is this the guy who wrote the book on the rodent tuber?

Kim:  Yes, I believe Prof Chris wrote on the subject.  You can find more information about Prof Chris on his website.  (I volunteered)

Prof X:  She is looking good.  (Prof X gave Mom a smile).  Why are you all here today?

We told him about Mom’s pain which has been there from Day 1 but currently more intense.

He then gave Mom a physical check behind the screen. When he was done…

Prof X:  She looks good.

Prof X then recommended that we do an X-ray of the chest to find out what is causing the pain which we complained.  I happened to bring along the old x-ray.  Prof X compared the 2 x-rays but there was not much that we can see from the new film except that the new one shows that the same patch is slightly bigger.

He recommended that we come back next week to do a CT scan.  I asked him what will happen next.  He said: Depends on the results, radiotherapy may be recommended.

He then asked whether we are taking any pain killers.  I said, No but we have tried before some over-the-counter pain killers which did not help.   He scribbled some prescriptions for us to buy from the hospital’s pharmacy and it turned out to be Arcoxia which Mom had tried before.

I was hoping that Prof X could prescribe some pain management pills or programme but I guess that would not be forthcoming until another round of thorough check is done.

We are of two minds about going back next week for the CT scan.  On one hand we thought perhaps it would be good to know Mom’s current status so that we can get relevant herbs from you if the cancer has spread to other parts?  But at the same time, I don’t want Mom to worry too much or having to go through the whole process again –  up and down the hospital for checks over & over again.   Shall we go for the CT scan?  Are all those rays going to do Mom any good especially in her condition?  We have heard that CT scan can cause damage to cells.

However, it has given us tremendous pleasure to see Prof X’s reaction when he saw Mom still in such good shape after 4 years without chemo and just taking your herbs.   His bewilderment seems to give Mom a lot of motivation too.

We have stopped using the Soothanol for the past few days as Mom was complaining about skin irritation.  I am currently applying tea tree oil on her – which provides her with some comfort but the pain is still there.

We received another email from Kim the following day.

Hi Prof Chris, Im

Guess what!  I have just received a private call from a nurse.  We have never spoken to each other before.  The last we saw her was 4 years ago.  She “heard about our visit to” Prof X last week.  And after seeing Mom’s condition after 4 years, she wants to know more about your herbs.  She has a friend with cancer and would like to recommend her friend to try. I have given the website (www.cacare.com, www.cacare.org )and told her about Mr. Yeong and Khad for her to find out more.

She confided that it is very sad to see patients “going off” one by one. She’s hoping that her friend can try the herbs. This is incredible! Seeing is believing! Keep up the good work!  Best regards, Kim.

Update: 15 August 2012: Hi Prof, Im, Irene,

We went for the CT scan yesterday. We reached the hospital at 3 pm. Did the scan at 3.30 pm but only managed to see Prof X at 7.30 pm. Left the hospital at 8.30 pm. We ended up spending nearly 5 hours at the hospital.

CT scan 14 August 2012

Anyway, we are VERY HAPPY with the results. Mom was expecting the worst as she thought the cancer has spread to other areas hence the persistent and intense pain. But as it turns out, the cancer has not spread – still confined to the right lung only. The left lung is all clear.

When Prof X told us the results, Mom asked again in disbelief. “No spreading?”   She was very happy. Prof X explained that the shape of the right lung has changed. The tumour has grown bigger and the pleura has thickened. There was some fluid but he said not to worry as its minimal. Prof X explained that due to the enlarged tumour and thickening of pleura, Mom will experience some chest congestion (which I think explains her shortness of breath?).

When we asked what is causing Mom’s pain then? Prof X explained that it’s from the enlarged tumour “pressing” the lining or thickening of the lining? (Hope I got this right.).

Prof X later asked us whether Mom wants to try chemo. My brother and I replied that Mom didn’t want it. He then asked Mom the same question directly. Mom replied, No.

Prof X then suggested that he will trace the samples that the surgeon took during the open-close surgery for lab testing to see whether Mom can take oral medication. We asked whether it is similar to chemo. His reply was, but it does not have the side effects of chemo as the drug attacks the tumour directly. He did not tell us the name of the medication but I suspect he is talking about Iressa.

As I was writing this, a nurse called me. I took the opportunity to ask her about the oral medication that Prof X mentioned yesterday. She said it is indeed Iressa. She also shared some of the side effects, e.g., pimples, nails coming off in some cases… she said so far she has not seen any patients on Iressa who survived longer than three years. She told me again just now that she is very surprised to see Mom in her fourth year on herbs.

As we were wrapping up for the evening, Prof X finally said it again, looking really pleased, “I am very surprised to see your Mother maintaining so well for 4 years.”

To sum up, we came away feeling really happy especially Mom. It’s as though a whole burden has been lifted off her. As we waited to pay for the bill, Mom told me adamantly that she doesn’t want to take anything else but your herbs.

She woke up late today at 8.00 a.m. instead of her usual 6+ a.m.   I have not seen her so well-rested for a long, long time.

I guess, we will have to continue to keep her positive. She now knows that there is nothing really “wrong”’ inside her except for the tumour.

Luv, Kim & family

Side Effects: Death – Confessions of a Pharma Insider

Side Effects: Death is the true story of corruption, bribery and fraud written by Dr. John Virapen, who has been called THE Big Pharma Insider. During his 35 years in the pharmaceutical industry internationally (most notably as general manager of Eli Lilly and Company in Sweden), Virapen was responsible for the marketing of several drugs, all of them with side effects.

Pharmaceutical companies want to keep people sick.
They want to make them think that they are sick.
They increasingly target our children and they are killing them!
And they do this for one reason: Money!

Why do I know this? – I was a culprit myself.

During my 35 years in the pharmaceutical industry internationally, most notably as general manager of Eli Lilly and Company in Sweden, I was responsible for the market of several drugs, all of them with side effects.

My book Side Effects: Death is the true story of corruption, bribery and fraud.

Pharmaceutical companies want to keep people sick. They want to make others think that they are sick. And they do this for one reason: money.

Did you know:
• Pharmaceutical companies invest more than 35,000 Euro (over $50,000) per physician each year to get them to prescribe their products?
• More than 75 percent of leading scientists in the field of medicine are “paid for” by the pharmaceutical industry?
• Corruption prevailed in the approval and marketing of drugs in some cases?
• Illnesses are made up by the pharmaceutical industry and specifically marketed to enhance sales and market shares for the companies in question?
• Pharmaceutical companies increasingly target children?

Breast Cancer: The Story of Two Sisters

On 20 May 2012, RO (B-696) came to our centre. It has been some years since we last saw her.  Anyway, we were glad that RO is still doing fine.  RO came with her blood test results (see table) and we read RO’s meridian using the AcuGraph. Basically the results were alright. RO also felt that she was doing fine without any complaints whatsoever.

We told RO, “There is nothing much to worry about. Do what you are doing and keep it that way!” She had “won” the battle against her breast cancer – without chemotherapy or radiotherapy of course!

The Story of RO

Sometime in 2001, RO felt a lump in her right breast.  The lump was mobile and it came on and off. There was no pain. RO was only 36 years old then. A year later, on 9 October 2002, she went to consult a doctor in a private hospital. An ultrasound indicated an irregular mass with an approximate size of 1.7 x 1.4 x 1.1 cm. Multiple small microcalcification are noted in this lesion, very suspicious of a primary malignancy. A tru-cut biopsy was performed and confirmed an invasive mammary ductual carcinoma, Grade 3.

RO subsequently underwent a right mastectomy. The pathology report dated 16 October 2002 indicated an infiltrating ductal carcinoma with presence of tumour cells close to the deep surgical margin. All six right axillary lymph nodes are free of tumour. The tumour cells are moderately positive for estrogen and progesterone receptors. There is an over expression of P53 in about 40% of the tumour cells. There is focal membrane positivity for c-ErbB2 oncoprotein in the tumour cells.

Comment by Consultant Pathologist:  An ER and PR positive tumour is likely to respond to hormone therapy and is associated with a greater probability of a disease-free survival. ErbB2 (neu/HER-2) is an independent prognostic marker, and overexpression is correlated with a poor prognosis. It is generally associated with a shorter disease-free interval and lower overall survival rate. In some studies, p-53 has been shown to be an independent marker of adverse prognosis.

An ultrasound on 17 October 2002 indicated presence of a 3.4 x 2.5 cm uterine fibroid. There was no evidence of metastatic disease.

RO was referred to an oncologist for further management. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy were suggested. She refused further medical treatment and came to seek our help on 1 November 2002. She was prescribed Capsule A, C-tea and Breast M. In addition she was asked to take GY 5 and GY 6 for her uterine fibroid which she continued to take for a while and then stopped.

Since October 2002 until 2012, we got to see RO once a while. Her blood test results over the years (from November 2002 to May 2012) are as follows:

The Story of RA (sister of RO)

In mid-July 2004, we received a fax from RO requesting us to help her sister, RA (T-20), who had just discovered a lump in her right breast. RA was 41 years old then. A biopsy was performed followed by a right mastectomy.  According to the pathology report of 6 July 2004, the tumour was about 4.0 x 30 x 25 mm in size. It was an infiltrating ductal as well as intraductal and comedo type carcinoma. There was lymphatic vascular embolization of tumour with metastases to four out of thirteen right axillary lymph nodes. There was also Paget’s disease of the right nipple.

RA was asked to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She refused and came to seek our help on 17 July 2004. She was prescribed Capsule A, Breast M and C-tea.  RA took our herbs for more than a year and was doing alright.

In 2004 (from July to December) we got to see RA only three times. In 2005 RA came to see us five times. We suspected from then on she defaulted taking the herbs and also did not take care of her diet. Her first visit to us in the year 2006 was in July.  She told us that she felt like there was a “hard bone” in her right breast. We suggested that she go and check it out with her doctor. She was reluctant. We got to see RA again three months later, in October 2006. After that she disappeared from our “radar.”

On 10 June 2007, RA came back to see us again. She told us of what had happened the past one year. The “hard bone” which she told us earlier was actually a recurrence and this occurred at the previous operation scar. But there was also a lump under her right armpit. Since she ignored it for a while, the lump “burst” and left a hole in her breast. She went back to her surgeon and was referred to an oncologist. So from January to May 2007. RA underwent six cycles of chemotherapy. On completion of the treatment RA was awarded a “Certificate of Achievement” below.

The chemo treatment cost  RM 18,000. After the chemo, the lump in the armpit shrunk.  She was then referred to the government hospital for further management. The doctor at the government hospital told her that radiation was not necessary in her case. A bone scan showed that the cancer had spread to her bones. She was put on Tamoxifen and had been taking it when she came to see us.

On 2 December 2007, RA came back to see us again with her CT scan report done on 21 November 2007. The study showed presence of 0.5 and 0.7 cm nodules in the apex of her right lung and a 0.3 cm nodule in the apex of her left lung.  There is a 0.9 cm node seen at the right side of her chest wall which could represent recurrence. There is a 1 cm hypodense cyst in Segment 2 of her liver and multiple hypodense lesions in Segments 3, 4, 5 and 8. These represent liver secondaries.

RA was told that her cancer was a Stage 4. She had to undergo more chemotherapy. We did not get to see RA again. We came to know from her sister that RA went for more chemotherapy and died after that.

Part 3: She Found Hope in CA Care

In mid-May, our sister-in-law in Singapore called to inform us that her sister had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She became the fourth person in her family down with cancer. She requested to see us. Of course, we are here to help those who need our help.

We were indeed happy to know that after two and a half hours of conversation with us, Corinna had found hope in what we are doing. We did not promise her a cure – but we promised to do our best to help her! Are we just providing “false hope”? To cancer patients and skeptics, we have this message for them:

As we talked to Corinna that day, we saw the transformation in her! Watch this video!

Let me reproduce the e-mails that Corinna wrote.

26 May 2012

Hello Corinna, I spent the whole of Saturday editing your videos. What stood out is that the first hour at CA Care was probably the darkest hour of your life — never even smile! Then after that there was magic! You put on your sweet, infectious smile! What happened? Look at those photos —  would you like to tell us what happened inside you? We can share that will those who are going to read your story!

                                                         Her first hour of gloom

                                                     The break of dawn!

Dr Chris,  Thank you very much for the photos.

The first two pictures clearly reflected my fear, my frustrations and confusions.

Having been told by the Singapore oncologist that I have no hope and he couldn’t cure me, I was on the verge of giving up. Will this man (you,Dr Chris) who is talking to me now offer me any solution and hope? I was praying then that GOD will show me HIS direction. The 3rd photo showed my eyes closing talking to GOD.

When you started talking, I became more alert and your words slowly flowed to me and I experienced calm and peace.

I just felt at that moment GOD was communicating to me through you. God was telling me that HE will not abandon me, HIS child. You told me you are not the one curing me but GOD. Your words already healed me then as I have never spoken to any human who puts GOD above himself.

You have helped so many cancer patients, yet you are so humble and did not claim any credit for yourself but gave all to GOD as you believe HE did all the healing. You believe and witnessed many miracles. You helped reinstall my faith in GOD. I was lost but I found my way.

The last 4 photos showed my joy in knowing that it is not the end of the world. I will fight this battle with GOD’s help for my family, all who show me so much love and to you Dr Chris who brought life back to me.

19 May 29012  Hi Dr Chris/Beng Im,

My husband Gerard, daughter Andrea and I would like to thank you both for the great hospitality on 17th May.

Prior to seeing you, I was lost and confused. I wanted very much to go ahead with chemo despite knowing that my chances of survival were extremely slim, if not zero. I am glad to have made the trip to Penang. You and your wife gave us so much warmth and love.

My faith in GOD has strengthened tremendously after hearing all your talks and stories. I felt like GOD was talking to me through you. I knew immediately then that if GOD brought me to this world so beautifully, why do I want to destroy the clean and pure body that he gave me with chemicals? We always say, Let Nature takes its course – so why don’t I let the herbs and plants from Nature and God Almighty heals me.

I have started taking all the herbs on 18 May and they are so sweet smelling, reminds me of what our parents used to give us when we were young. I didn’t feel any pain throughout the day except vomited once in the evening, probably receiving too many visitors and tired myself out.

I slept last night from 11pm to 3.30 am without taking any further painkiller. My sleep was probably disturbed by my colleague sms  telling me that she lost her job. I felt sorry for her as she is under great pressure.

This morning, Gerard and I went to the beach for a stroll. My back was aching but I feel so great now after taking your herbs. I have faith in all your herbs and GOD above will help me walk this difficult path too.

Thanks once again for everything Dr. Chris and I will continue to update you on my progress. May GOD Bless you and Beng Im always as this world needs you both to bring joy, hope and happiness.

Warmest regards
Corinna

22 May 2012  Good afternoon Dr Chris,

Guess who called me earlier? I was shocked that he called me personally — The Oncologist !!!!! He asked me why I didn’t follow up with him after seeing him last Monday 14 May. He said I should go for treatment as he thinks there is still hope for me (??????).

I told him I have decided to go for herbal and he repeated that I should reconsider chemo. He said he has read my blood and urine test and I should seriously consider chemo. He asked me to go down to his clinic for further advice as he feels I should give him a chance to talk to me.

I am surprised that someone who dashed my hope reversed his gear so fast. Suddenly he thinks there is hope when in the first place he didn’t even read all my test reports last week when I was in his clinic. I would have waivered if not for the faith you built in me. I am glad that I am strong enough to know what I myself want.

I have already put all my trust in GOD and in your herbs and I will stand by my own decision.

Today is my 5th day on your herbs and I am already feeling so much better. The pain has sudsided a lot and I am much stronger, happier and able to sleep well at night.

Once again I thank you very much for helping me and enlightening me in my most difficult time of my life.

24 May 2012  Dear Dr Chris,

Thanks very much for your reply and great advice. I would like to update you on my progress as today is my 7th day taking yr herbs. For the past few days, I am able to go to the beach for a walk every morning for half to an hour. But when I am back, I will feel a little tired, on/off nauseous and some discomfort when I cough with spasms from my abdomen once or twice. Strangely thereafter, I would look forward to taking your herbs and every day after the first bowl, all my tiredness, nauseating and discomfort disappeared.

By noon, I become very lively and energetic and I don’t even feel that I’m sick. I know that the herbs are working well on me as my appetite has improved tremendously. I’m following the strict healthy diet recommended by your wonderful wife and I’m glad I have the discipline to do so.

Yes, you can go ahead and write my story even with my name / identity and face. There is no need to mask my “pretty” face – ha, ha, ha!!!! I give you my full approval. I believe God sent you to heal me as you give me so much joy and comfort at my darkest moment in my life when I’m lost and confused. I would have given up and surrendered if not for my prayers been answered by GOD to show me direction to find life again.

Tks vm

Warmest regards, Corinna

A U-turn from Death – The Nose Cancer Journey of Pastor Danny

Danny is a pastor of a church in Singapore. He is 48 years old. Sometime in early August 2011, he had dengue.  His right cheek was swollen and his ear was blocked. His problems resolved after hospitalization. However, a PET scan done on 21 October 2011 revealed the following:

  1. FEG-avid right nasopharyngeal mass. There is effacement of the right parapharyngeal space and extension across the midline.
  2. Hypermetabolic right retropharyngeal, right level 2 and 3 adenopathy.
  3. Necrotic enlarged left FDG-avid level 2 adenopathy.

Impression: Right nasopharyngeal  tumour. There is also right retropharyngeal adenopathy, left level 2 cervical node and right level 3 node.

A biopsy was performed and confirmed cancer of the nasopharynx, T2N2Mo.

Pastor Danny subsequently underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. He successfully completed 33 sessions of radiation but managed to complete only 2 cycles of chemotherapy (scheduled for 6 cycles). The chemo-drug used was cisplatin.

Danny suffered severe side effects of the radiation treatment. In addition, chemotherapy was equally severe. After the first cycle of chemo, he suffered nausea and vomiting and has to be hospitalized. In late December 2011, Danny had to be hospitalized again due to febrile neutopenia (fevers and infection).

When the time was due to Danny to undergo his third cycles of chemo, he decided that he had had enough. He did not want any more chemo.

It was at this stage that we received the following email.

5 January 2012

Hi Chris,

My pastor Danny (from Singapore) has got nose cancer Stage 3. He has just finished his radio therapy treatment and has 4 more dosages of chemo to go thru.

Last month as I was sharing with my cousin Bobby from Singapore, he shared that his elderly dad got colon cancer several years ago and undergone your treatment. He has since been well and out of cancer.  Bobby mentioned that (Mr. Lee in JB would be able to help). My pastor Derek would like to bring Danny to your centre for an appointment….  Appreciate your reply.

Shalom. L.

Pastor Danny was subsequently prescribed herbs: Capsule A, NPC 1 and NPC 2, Lympho, Chemo-tea, Radio-tea and Mt. Guava deTox teas and was told to take care of his diet. He benefited from our Therapy. Within a few days he bounced back to ”real” life.

On 26 April 2012, we received an e-mail from Pastor Danny.

Dear Professor Teo,

Thank you very much for turning my medical condition around! Tried calling you to break the good news, but cannot get thru la.  I managed to share with Mr. Lee, and he is so happy for me.

My MRI result shows all is normal and EBV blood test shows virus undetectable!  Amazing?  I am amazed, at NPC stage 3, I just made an U turn from death, and I’m thankful to you and Mr. Lee for the herbs and the amazing Capsule A!

See you in May. Danny.

Medical Reports

  • 28 March 2012 – EBV Quantitative PCR = Undetectable.
  • 30 January 2012 – EBV Quantitative PCR = Undetectable. Less than 715 copies/ ml.
  • 19 October 2011 – EBV Quantitative PCR = Detected. 7,997 copies /ml (3.90 log).
  • MRI 4 April 2012 – Compared to previous MRI done on 27 February 2011 (note:  The date on this report is obviously wrong. It should have been 21 October 2011??).
  1. Interval resolution of nasopharyngeal mass. No evidence of residual disease seen.
  2. Interval decrease in retropharyngeal lymphadenopathy, now within normal by size.
  3. Interval decrease in cervical lymphadenopathy, most are within normal size criteria except for a right upper level 2 which is borderline in size.

Pastor Danny came to see us again in Penang on 12 May 2012 and shared his story. Let him walk you through his cancer journey and share with you some of the darkest hours of his life.

Acknowledgement:  Thank you for your permission to share this story without having to hide your real identity.

Part 1: NPC – Treatments and Side Effects

  • Diagnosed with Stage 3 nose cancer in October 2011 and underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy in November 2011.
  • Suffered severe side effects of radiation – mouth sore, difficulty swallowing, burnt skin, etc.
  • At the same time, he received two cycles of chemotherapy.  The side effects were worse than radiation and he had to be hospitalized. He was unable to sleep, was in pain and became anxious and depressed. He was put on morphine and as a result suffered constipation and hallucination.

Part 2: Darkest Hours of My Life

  • The treatment caused much misery. I would rather die – it was miserable and never again!
  • The diagnosis of Stage 3 cancer meant it was a death sentence. There was only a 30 percent chance (whatever that means!).
  • There was no hope and no choice. He had to undergo medical treatment because that was the only way to go.
  • He had to put up a “false front” and behave himself – being a pastor who needed to show a good example.
  • In this darkest hour of his life, Did you ask God – Why?  No, he did not because cancer seemed to be a part of his family. His mother died of nose cancer too – many years ago.  Many other members of his family also had nose cancer.
  • At the lowest ebb of his life, he felt he could not make it and was ready to die. In fact, he sent an sms to a friend requesting what to be done for him if he passed on.
  • I was just a living thing – existing.

Part 3: Clash of Healing Ways – Modern Medicine Versus Traditional Herbs

  • He had total belief in modern medicine. That probably was the only “sure” or logical way to “fight” the cancer. He was not open to alternative therapies because he was not sure of them and did not have enough convincing information about them.
  • He suffered severely from the medical treatment. Many friends around him persuaded him to give up chemo! But he would not listen! He reasoned, If I go for chemo, at least I have a chance! My life is a stake.
  • At last, a friend managed to break through with the message that herbs from CA Care would be able to help. He was convinced but not enough to totally discard chemotherapy. He still wanted to go for his third cycle of chemo. But somehow the third chemotherapy was deferred and that gave him the chance to start taking CA Care’s herbs.
  • Three days on the herbs, he bounced back to life. He had more energy to talk to friends and walk and was able to attend church and took morning walk.
  • With his health back – he thought he had a strong enough base to go for chemotherapy again!

Part 4: The Breakthrough – Cancer in remission!

  • His desire to continue with chemo had upset many of his friends. You are going better with the herbs, why are you going for chemo again?  He told them, You all did not know what I have gone through. I was desperate to get well. I am willing to die to become well.
  • After a trip to Penang and consultation with Chris – he was satisfied, for we at CA Care would not compel any one to do what he doesn’t want to do or stop anyone from doing what he wants to do. It is your life and you decide what is best for you! My mission is to empower you with adequate, truthful information.
  • Not under pressure anymore, he decided to stop chemo on his own accord. The next day he went to his oncologist and for the first time told her the he was taking CA Care’s herbs and he would not want to continue with further chemotherapy. To his surprise the oncologist readily agreed! She was not “mad” at him at all.
  • Also it came as a surprise that the oncologist broke the news that there were no more EBV in his blood and the mass in his nose had resolved. In simple language, he was considered “cured” or was in remission. There was no further need for chemo. He had only to come for routine checkup.

Part 5: Don’t Be Complacent – Learn from the Experiences of Others Before You

  • On 12 May 2012, he came back to Penang and shared his story with us. Now, it was our turn to give him our advice on how to stay healthy.
  • Eat anything you like? That’s going to be the greatest mistake you will ever commit in your life. So take care of your diet.
  • You are not cured of your cancer yet! The cancer can come back and strike you again! So don’t be complacent or fooled by this good news.
  • Learn from the experiences of others before you. Learn from their mistakes and successes if you want to live long.

Breast Cancer: Pains Gone After e-Therapy

MT (S-127) is a 44-year old female from Batam, Indonesia. She was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in August 2005. MT underwent a mastectomy followed by 6 cycles of chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. Then she took Tamoxifen for 5 years.

After 5 years, MT was told to stop Tamoxifen because she was already cured.  But barely a year later, in April 2011, MT started to have pains in her tail bone and shoulder blade.  CT scan in February 2012 indicated metastasis to her bones.

MT gave up further medical treatment and came to CA Care for help. Her health improved. Her pains disappeared. When she was well, she exerted herself causing the pains to recur. MT came back to see us again on 6 May 2012 and underwent the e-Therapy.

Acknowledgement:  MT granted us her permission to use this video without having to mask her face.

Before the e-Therapy

Watch the first part of the video carefully. She walked with difficulty and with a limp. She had difficulty sitting down and had to support herself. She appeared to be in pain when moving due to the following problems.

  1. She had pains on both thighs and around her hip.
  2. Pain in the lumbar region.
  3. Muscles cramps in both legs.
  4. Her tail bone felt pains and “hot.”
  5. Her muscles around her shoulder blades felt numb.
  6.  She had pulling pains in her head.

After the e-Therapy

Watch the second part of the video. After two to four sessions of the e-Therapy MT appeared a “different person” free from all pains. She was able to walk normally (not limping anymore). She could sit down normally.

Chris: Is there any difference in your sleep – before and after the e-Therapy?

MT:  I slept better after the e-Therapy.

After the e-Therapy, were there more or less pains?

Less pain. The lumbar region had “loosened” up and there were no more pains.  The whole body felt “lighter.” I felt better when walking.

You said you had pains in both thighs?

No more problems.

Are you sure?

No more problems!

You said your legs were numb?

No more.

Your tail bone felt hot?

Not anymore.

At the back, around your shoulder blades – they were tight and numb – what happen now?

No more. I fell “lighter” now.

The pulling pains in your head?

I did not feel that anymore.

After two sessions of the e-Therapy and you really feel better?

Yes. I felt much better. Before e-Therapy I had difficulty standing up. I had to push myself up with both my hands. Now, I am okay – no problem.

Do you have problem walking?

Not any more.

What other problems do you have now?

The muscles at the lower rib region feel a bit tight.

Okay, we will “repair” that.

Cervical Cancer Stage 3B: Health Restored After Taking Herbs and Giving Up Chemo-radiation Treatments

The Ai Hoa (TAH) is a 78 year old lady from Indonesia. In May 2008 she had chocolate-coloured vaginal discharge. She consulted a gynaecologist and was told there was nothing wrong. In February 2009, the discharge recurred. She consulted another gynaecologist and was again told the same story – nothing was wrong.

Her daughter brought TAH to Singapore for further consultation. A PAP smear done on 16 March 2009 indicated high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) / CIN 3.

A biopsy of the cervical tissue was performed and indicated microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma.

A PET-CT scan on 23 March 2009 indicated a hypermetabolic FDG avid cervical mass with diffusely increased uterine avidity which was inseparable from the uterus and the upper part of the vagina. There was multiple FDG avid left iliac, aortocaval, recto-caval and bilateral paraaortic lymph nodes consistent with metastasis. There was no evidence of peritoneal or liver metastases.

Blood test results on 24 March 2009 showed normal hemogram with an ESR of 25 mm/hr. The renal and liver function tests were normal but LDH was 210 (normal <190). Her CEA was 6.9 (n<5) and CA 125 was 124 (n<35). HBsAg was reactive.

TAH was referred to another doctor for evaluation of her elevated CEA and HBsAg. She underwent endoscopy of her GI tract on 26 Match 2009. The result showed normal oesophagus but antral gastritis was noted. She was tested positive for Helicobacter pylori. Colonoscopy showed numerous small sessile polyps in the rectum. On biopsy it showed hyperplasic / metplastic polyps.  She was started on Baraclude (entecavir) for her hepatitis B (carrier).

Bone scan on 28 April 2009 showed increased tracer uptake in the midline of the upper sacrum as well as the left sacral ala, most probably due to degenerative changes, unlikely due to bony metastasis.

On 25 March 2009, TAH underwent concurrent chemo-radiation. TAH received 28 times of radiation treatment and 3 times of brachytherapy (internal).  Each chemo treatment was repeated weekly. The drugs used were cisplatin and 5-FU. After four doses of chemo (to receive a total of 8) TAH developed significant myelosuppression (lowering of white and red blood cells).  Chemotherapy was suspended temporarily.

Cost of Treatment

Not counting other costs, TAH had to pay a total of at least S$ 24,700 for her treatments in Singapore. The breakdown is as follows:

Radiation                                              S$17, 000

Brachytherapy (internal radiation)         S$  4,500

Chemotherapy                                      S$  3,200

Health Worsened After Treatments in Singapore

Chris: When did she complete all her treatments in Singapore?

Daughter:  16 May 2009 and we went home to Indonesia.

With the treatment, was she getting better? Better than before?

No. She felt nauseous and tired. She was not able to sit up for long and had pains in her back.

Before the treatment in Singapore how was mom’s condition? Good or bad?

She was healthy.

Before her treatment and after her treatment – was there any difference?

Yes, different. She was worse off after her treatment in Singapore.

You spent all the money and what happened then?

She was more tired.

What’s the whole meaning then?

Mom did not want to continue with the treatment any more. But the doctor said, “No, no, you cannot stop. You need to add more blood.” So we were confused.

Did you think mother would die if she was to continue with the treatment?

Most probably!

What happened during the chemo? Did she suffer?

It was difficult. She felt nauseous, she had difficulty eating. She had no strength to talk.

She was already 75 years old. I would not do that if she was my mother.

The radiologist in Singapore told us, “If she was my mother I would also give her the radiation.”

Oh yes, of course. If you go to a barber he will definitely tell you to cut your hair!

I did tell the radiologist that mom was already old but he kept insisting that if mom was his mother, he would do the same. Because he is a doctor, we believed him. But when I went home, I started to look for alternatives. That was when I found your book. In fact, the radiologist said that when we return to continue with the chemo, most probably mom would need to undergo another 20 times of radiation if the lymph nodes were still swollen. No, mom did not want to return to Singapore for treatment anymore.

Every half-hour Juice Therapy – almost fainted

On her return to Indonesia, TAH went on a 21-day-JuiceTherapy offered by an alternative practitioner. She had to drink all kinds of juices every half an hour. She almost fainted while on the therapy and gave this up.

Found CA Care

Her daughter read our book, Kanker: Mengapa Mereka Hidup (the Indonesian version of Cancer: Why They Live).  This led her to CA Care. She obtained herbs from Pak Teddy in Jakarta. After four weeks on the herbs TAH felt better.  Her facial expression improved, frequency of her urination lessen. She could sit in her daughter’s bread shop for one whole morning. Previously she could not do so even for half an hour and had to go upstairs and lie down.

Her daughter flew to see us in Penang on 19 July 2009. Below is the video recording on that day.

4 April 2010 – TAH and her daughter came to Penang

After taking the herbs for about ten months, TAH came to visit us for the first time, accompanied by her daughter.  She presented with the following problems:

  1. She felt “heaty” inside her abdomen.
  2. Her urination was very frequent – 7 to 8 times per night and this disturbed her sleep.
  3. She had incontinence.
  4. She had cramps in her legs if standing for too long.
  5. The soles of her feet felt “thick”.
  6. She had pains in the joints of her fingers.
  7. Her stomach felt bloated and this caused discomforts.

Mama, how did you feel after taking the herbs?

D: Most people who saw her were saying she looked better.

TAH: I felt my backbone was better after taking the Bone Tea. I took care of my diet – I do not take fish, any meat or chicken. Do I have to keep to this diet until I die?

I am not sick but I also take care of my diet. I don’t want to wait until I get sick before I start to take care of my diet.

D: But she is not putting on weight?

Do you want to put on weight? Many Indonesians who come here are like that – complaining about not being able to grow fatter! But I tell them – You are not a pig or a cow. If you need to sell yourself by the kilos then go ahead and become fat. What is important to you is that you are healthy – with no problem. If you can eat, can sleep, can walk or move around and have no pains – what else do you want? You will put on weight later but it takes time. Be patient. You are already 76 years old now and you look good. Take it easy.

TAH: You have helped so many people!

Now, let me ask. There is this patient in the same place that you come from. Many patients came to see me because of her – she is doing well. She has a bread shop or something like that.

D: Yes, that is us – we have a bread shop. After our treatment in Singapore, mama always felt nauseous and tired. She had to sleep upstairs. Now, she is able to help take care of the shop.

Comments

Let me ask you to reflect seriously on the following:

  1. With all the modern technology of medical science – PAP smear, biopsy, CT scan, PET scan, bone scan, endoscopy, colonoscopy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy and chemotherapy – how did TAH ended up?  Indeed these procedures may or may not be necessary, but do you ever wonder if all these are the answers to her problem? Well, she even ended up being prescribed Baraclude for hepatitis! What does that tell you?
  2. TAH was already 75 years old – if she was your mother and if you were an expert in radiotherapy and chemotherapy – would you subject her to such treatments? The Singapore radiologist said yes! Do you buy that?

3.  Before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy do you want to know what the side effects of these treatments are?  If you want to know – why don’t you ask the doctors? But whatever they say must always be counter checked with the information found in the internet. After having gone through the list of side effects then use your commonsense and ask this question – Do these treatments make sense to you?

What are the side effects of radiation (external) and brachytherapy (internal radiation)?

In the cancer forum, many ladies wrote about their experiences. Here are some examples:

  • My mom had 2 brachytherapy treatments. A couple of weeks after the treatments she was complaining of some discomfort in her back.
  • I had 3 brachytherapy sessions and the side effects I had were – some bleeding for a few days after each session, lack of energy and needing to sleep more than usual.
  • Despite being told of the possible side effects of my radiation treatment, I found I wasn’t truly prepared. I was told I would experience issues with my bowels. I did and still do, one and one-half years later. I first experienced “loose” bowels about four weeks into treatment. For months after radiation I had lower back and leg aches. No one could truly offer an explanation for it, but I sense that much of what I felt was nerve and tissue damage. Bending or squatting down was especially painful.
  • I also had three days of internal radiation and that contributed to what is called ‘stenosis’ or vaginal scarring.
  • I found my tummy was upset in the beginning. About eight months after treatment, I had rectal bleeding and feeling of ‘blockage’ that turned out to be chronic inflammation due to radiation.
  • During the last two weeks of my external radiation treatments, I experienced diarrhea, loss of appetite, and fatigue. I had occasional vaginal itchiness. I have developed a problem with stress incontinence (urinary leakage when sneezing, coughing etc). My radiation oncologist told me the radiation has damaged the sphincter.
  • I feel that the side-effects were definitely minimized, almost to the point of lying. I can understand that they don’t wish to scare you with all sorts of rare complications, but I would rather have been “given the straight goods”, so to speak, on the more likely ones. I was told that the internal radiation treatments would probably cause some temporary and mild bladder and bowel problems. I started experiencing minor bladder irritation immediately after the first radiation treatment, and also had mild diarrhea. Five years after the treatments, I still have “funny” bowels – when I have to go, I usually have to go *NOW*, sometimes several times a day, and “normal” seems to be everything from loose to constipated. I didn’t realize this was after-effects from radiation until I found other women on the internet who’d also had radiation and were having the same symptoms. I felt tired and “draggy” for a couple of months after my treatments. I also underwent menopause, at age thirty-four. Symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes, inability to concentrate, and moodiness, increased in intensity for several months until I finally realized what was going on. The radiation also caused some scarring in my vagina.

Side Effects of Brachytherapy

  • Nausea
  • Digestive disorders like loose stools, stomach upset.
  • Urinary incontinence.
  • Dryness in the vaginal canal, vaginal soreness and bleeding etc.
  • There are also many side effects that can cause permanent damage to the reproductive organs such as the vaginal canal becomes very narrow because of the radiation treatment. The length of the vaginal cavity is also shortened due to the procedure, rendering sex very painful and uncomfortable.
  • Menopause too is sometimes accelerated as a result of brachytherapy.
  • Another important side effect of brachytherapy is loss of bone density.

Side Effects of Cisplatin

  • Increased risk of getting an infection from a drop in white blood cells.
  • Tiredness and breathlessness due to a drop in red blood cells.
  • Bruising more easily due to a drop in platelets.
  • Fatigue during and after treatment and feeling or being sick.
  • Cisplatin can cause kidney damage.
  • Hearing loss, especially with high-pitched sounds.
  • Ringing in the ears.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Loss of taste or a metallic taste.
  • Numbness or tingling in the fingers and toes resulting in difficulty with fiddly things.
  • Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, itching, feeling hot, shivering, redness of the face, feeling dizzy, headache, shortness of breath, anxiety or a sudden need to pass urine.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Fast heartbeat (during or shortly after a dose)
  • Lower back or side pain accompanied by fever or chills
  • Joint pain
  • Blurred vision

Side Effects of 5-FU

•  Sore mouth.
•  Taste changes.
•  Diarrhoea.
•  Eye problems.
•  Skin changes.
•  Risk of infection, bruising and bleeding due to low blood counts.
•  Tiredness or fatigue.
•  Feeling sick or nausea and vomiting.
•  Hair loss.
•  Nail changes.
•  Sun sensitivity.
•  Soreness and redness of palms of hand and soles of feet.
•  Chest pains and tightening across the centre of chest.

Reflect on the quotations below:

We wish to thank TAH and her family for giving us the permission to tell her story and use the videos above. And this is Ai Hoa at age 78! At this time she is doing well indeed – and her health is reflected in these pictures. She has been almost three years on CA Care’s herbs.

How Doctors Die by Dr. Ken Murray, M.D.

Ken Murray, MD is a retired family medical physician who had a private practice of general medicine in Studio City, California for about 25 years, until his retirement in 2006. He also held a Clinical Assistant Professorship in Family Medicine at the University of Southern California, until his retirement.

Years ago, Charlie, a highly respected orthopedist and a mentor of mine, found a lump in his stomach. He had a surgeon explore the area, and the diagnosis was pancreatic cancer. This surgeon was one of the best in the country. He had even invented a new procedure for this exact cancer that could triple a patient’s five-year-survival odds—from 5 percent to 15 percent—albeit with a poor quality of life. Charlie was uninterested. He went home the next day, closed his practice, and never set foot in a hospital again. He focused on spending time with family and feeling as good as possible. Several months later, he died at home. He got no chemotherapy, radiation, or surgical treatment. Medicare didn’t spend much on him.

It’s not a frequent topic of discussion, but doctors die, too. And they don’t die like the rest of us. What’s unusual about them is not how much treatment they get compared to most Americans, but how little. For all the time they spend fending off the deaths of others, they tend to be fairly serene when faced with death themselves. They know exactly what is going to happen, they know the choices, and they generally have access to any sort of medical care they could want. But they go gently.

Of course, doctors don’t want to die; they want to live. But they know enough about modern medicine to know its limits. And they know enough about death to know what all people fear most: dying in pain, and dying alone. They’ve talked about this with their families. They want to be sure, when the time comes, that no heroic measures will happen—that they will never experience, during their last moments on earth, someone breaking their ribs in an attempt to resuscitate them with CPR (that’s what happens if CPR is done right).

Almost all medical professionals have seen what we call “futile care” being performed on people. That’s when doctors bring the cutting edge of technology to bear on a grievously ill person near the end of life. The patient will get cut open, perforated with tubes, hooked up to machines, and assaulted with drugs. All of this occurs in the Intensive Care Unit at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars a day. What it buys is misery we would not inflict on a terrorist. I cannot count the number of times fellow physicians have told me, in words that vary only slightly, “Promise me if you find me like this that you’ll kill me.” They mean it. Some medical personnel wear medallions stamped “NO CODE” to tell physicians not to perform CPR on them. I have even seen it as a tattoo.

To administer medical care that makes people suffer is anguishing. Physicians are trained to gather information without revealing any of their own feelings, but in private, among fellow doctors, they’ll vent. “How can anyone do that to their family members?” they’ll ask. I suspect it’s one reason physicians have higher rates of alcohol abuse and depression than professionals in most other fields. I know it’s one reason I stopped participating in hospital care for the last 10 years of my practice.

How has it come to this—that doctors administer so much care that they wouldn’t want for themselves? The simple, or not-so-simple, answer is this: patients, doctors, and the system.

To see how patients play a role, imagine a scenario in which someone has lost consciousness and been admitted to an emergency room. As is so often the case, no one has made a plan for this situation, and shocked and scared family members find themselves caught up in a maze of choices. They’re overwhelmed. When doctors ask if they want “everything” done, they answer yes. Then the nightmare begins. Sometimes, a family really means “do everything,” but often they just mean “do everything that’s reasonable.” The problem is that they may not know what’s reasonable, nor, in their confusion and sorrow, will they ask about it or hear what a physician may be telling them. For their part, doctors told to do “everything” will do it, whether it is reasonable or not.

The above scenario is a common one. Feeding into the problem are unrealistic expectations of what doctors can accomplish. Many people think of CPR as a reliable lifesaver when, in fact, the results are usually poor. I’ve had hundreds of people brought to me in the emergency room after getting CPR. Exactly one, a healthy man who’d had no heart troubles (for those who want specifics, he had a “tension pneumothorax”), walked out of the hospital. If a patient suffers from severe illness, old age, or a terminal disease, the odds of a good outcome from CPR are infinitesimal, while the odds of suffering are overwhelming. Poor knowledge and misguided expectations lead to a lot of bad decisions.

But of course it’s not just patients making these things happen. Doctors play an enabling role, too. The trouble is that even doctors who hate to administer futile care must find a way to address the wishes of patients and families. Imagine, once again, the emergency room with those grieving, possibly hysterical, family members. They do not know the doctor. Establishing trust and confidence under such circumstances is a very delicate thing. People are prepared to think the doctor is acting out of base motives, trying to save time, or money, or effort, especially if the doctor is advising against further treatment.

Some doctors are stronger communicators than others, and some doctors are more adamant, but the pressures they all face are similar. When I faced circumstances involving end-of-life choices, I adopted the approach of laying out only the options that I thought were reasonable (as I would in any situation) as early in the process as possible. When patients or families brought up unreasonable choices, I would discuss the issue in layman’s terms that portrayed the downsides clearly. If patients or families still insisted on treatments I considered pointless or harmful, I would offer to transfer their care to another doctor or hospital.

Should I have been more forceful at times? I know that some of those transfers still haunt me. One of the patients of whom I was most fond was an attorney from a famous political family. She had severe diabetes and terrible circulation, and, at one point, she developed a painful sore on her foot. Knowing the hazards of hospitals, I did everything I could to keep her from resorting to surgery. Still, she sought out outside experts with whom I had no relationship. Not knowing as much about her as I did, they decided to perform bypass surgery on her chronically clogged blood vessels in both legs. This didn’t restore her circulation, and the surgical wounds wouldn’t heal. Her feet became gangrenous, and she endured bilateral leg amputations. Two weeks later, in the famous medical center in which all this had occurred, she died.

It’s easy to find fault with both doctors and patients in such stories, but in many ways all the parties are simply victims of a larger system that encourages excessive treatment. In some unfortunate cases, doctors use the fee-for-service model to do everything they can, no matter how pointless, to make money. More commonly, though, doctors are fearful of litigation and do whatever they’re asked, with little feedback, to avoid getting in trouble.

Even when the right preparations have been made, the system can still swallow people up. One of my patients was a man named Jack, a 78-year-old who had been ill for years and undergone about 15 major surgical procedures. He explained to me that he never, under any circumstances, wanted to be placed on life support machines again. One Saturday, however, Jack suffered a massive stroke and got admitted to the emergency room unconscious, without his wife. Doctors did everything possible to resuscitate him and put him on life support in the ICU. This was Jack’s worst nightmare. When I arrived at the hospital and took over Jack’s care, I spoke to his wife and to hospital staff, bringing in my office notes with his care preferences. Then I turned off the life support machines and sat with him. He died two hours later.

Even with all his wishes documented, Jack hadn’t died as he’d hoped. The system had intervened. One of the nurses, I later found out, even reported my unplugging of Jack to the authorities as a possible homicide. Nothing came of it, of course; Jack’s wishes had been spelled out explicitly, and he’d left the paperwork to prove it. But the prospect of a police investigation is terrifying for any physician. I could far more easily have left Jack on life support against his stated wishes, prolonging his life, and his suffering, a few more weeks. I would even have made a little more money, and Medicare would have ended up with an additional $500,000 bill. It’s no wonder many doctors err on the side of overtreatment.

But doctors still don’t over-treat themselves. They see the consequences of this constantly. Almost anyone can find a way to die in peace at home, and pain can be managed better than ever. Hospice care, which focuses on providing terminally ill patients with comfort and dignity rather than on futile cures, provides most people with much better final days. Amazingly, studies have found that people placed in hospice care often live longer than people with the same disease who are seeking active cures. I was struck to hear on the radio recently that the famous reporter Tom Wicker had “died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.” Such stories are, thankfully, increasingly common.

Several years ago, my older cousin Torch (born at home by the light of a flashlight—or torch) had a seizure that turned out to be the result of lung cancer that had gone to his brain. I arranged for him to see various specialists, and we learned that with aggressive treatment of his condition, including three to five hospital visits a week for chemotherapy, he would live perhaps four months. Ultimately, Torch decided against any treatment and simply took pills for brain swelling. He moved in with me.

We spent the next eight months doing a bunch of things that he enjoyed, having fun together like we hadn’t had in decades. We went to Disneyland, his first time. We’d hang out at home. Torch was a sports nut, and he was very happy to watch sports and eat my cooking. He even gained a bit of weight, eating his favorite foods rather than hospital foods. He had no serious pain, and he remained high-spirited. One day, he didn’t wake up. He spent the next three days in a coma-like sleep and then died. The cost of his medical care for those eight months, for the one drug he was taking, was about $20.

Torch was no doctor, but he knew he wanted a life of quality, not just quantity. Don’t most of us? If there is a state of the art of end-of-life care, it is this: death with dignity. As for me, my physician has my choices. They were easy to make, as they are for most physicians. There will be no heroics, and I will go gentle into that good night. Like my mentor Charlie. Like my cousin Torch. Like my fellow doctors.

Colon Cancer Part 3: Our Privilege to Help This Determined African Lady Who Has So Much Common Sense

You wrote to me sometime in December 2011 asking for help but I hesitated and virtually did not want to take on your case. Why were you persistent in wanting to take our herbs?  Other patients would just have given up and go elsewhere. After all internet / website information are not reliable.

My mind just felt very positive towards trying the herbs. Nobody recommended me, God pointed me in the direction I needed to go.

You have been taking all these supplements before the herbs. These were: a lot of vitamin – B, D, E and K, (mostly chelated), licorice root, milk thistle, wheat grass, raw vegetable protein powder, Poly MVA, Selenium, Chelated iron tablets, broccoli sprouts, colostrums, beta glucans, Co Q10, barley juice, chorella and digestive enzymes. This is besides taking Ibuprofen (for pain) and Xeloda (Oral chemo). Are you still on them now?

I stopped taking some of them. Initially, when I started taking the herbs, I stopped all supplements because I wanted to feel the effects of the herbs. I wanted to know exactly what the herbs will make me feel. I started some of the vitamins after a month on the herbs so that I will be able to identify if need be whichever one causing a feeling/symptom.

How was your health before taking the herbs?

  1. I got intense heartburn that felt like I was having a heart-attack sometimes.
  2. Right now I have a lot of heat! I sweat all time, and I am always hot. I also feel a lot of internal heat. This started after the radiation, I got a test of my hormones and they were elevated and this puts me in pre-menopause.
  3. I don’t get my menstrual period anymore, although I got what I felt like really painful ovulation last month.
  4. I started having psoriasis all over my skin and also a skin outbreak looking like small boils behind my thigh and butt.
  5. The last ultrasound scan showed about 3 uterine fibroids the biggest was about 5cm.
  6. I rarely sleep before 4a.m., although I have gained about 10kg.
  7. I also have a bump on the right inner side of my tongue,
  8. The hospital was planning to remove the whole rectum/vagina and give a permanent colostomy, but I have declined this.  Even the oncologist agrees with me not to do the surgery.  The only thing I am planning to do is close the colostomy after the rectum heals so bowel movements can go the normal route.

Are you in pain? Describe, where, what type and how serious?

Yes, there is pain, but it has reduced. The pain is in the rectal area, sometimes radiates to the vagina. It aches, sometimes burns. On a scale of 1-10 pain is about 5.

Can you sleep?

No can’t sleep.

Do you feel tired?

No.

How often is your bowel movement? Difficult, constipated, with blood?

Two to three times daily, normal, soft, no blood.

How is your appetite?

Appetite is okay, but can be better.

Any swelling?

No

Very dry skin. Recently I started getting eczema and acne. The bottom of my feet sometimes hurt when I walk. There is a bump on my tongue (pink).

When you started to take the herbs for the first week (r two), did you suffer from any healing crisis? Your conditions got worse and then improved later?

Yes, I had pains all over my body, headache, sore throat, mild temperature and rashes. Some of the symptoms got worse before they got better.

After how long taking the herbs that you felt you were beginning to feel the herbs were helping you?

From the first week after using the herbs, I felt a difference and I knew that the herbs were helping me.

Why did you say you were getting better after talking the herbs?

  1. In terms of general feelings, I feel great. I am getting stronger physically,
  2.  I don’t sleep at 4 a.m. anymore. I don’t feel tired when I wake up.
  3. Basically, if not for the fistula, I have no symptoms.
  4.  I do more things myself now.
  5. Before I started the herbs, I had slight burning pains from the rectum and sometimes I had to use Ibuprofen (pain killer).  This week, I have not had that pain at all (even when I don’t use the pain tea).
  6. I can sit on a hard surface better now, prior to this moment, it was uncomfortable.
  7. My vagina does not itch anymore. Previously, it was itching so bad that I would scratch it until it bleeds. (Probably this is because you have stopped Xeloda?)  Yes, I was taking Xeloda the month before I started taking the herbs. The psoriasis on my body is also clearing up. They appeared after I started taking Xeloda.
  8. My lower abdomen was very tender upon touch, now I can press it without wincing.
  9. I definitely feel I am making positive progress both mentally and physically. I don’t know what it is but I feel happier!
  10. I tried out my shoulder and neck today. Unbelievable! Zero pain! Just five days ago I was in severe pain.
  11. I walked around for over an hour without getting tired. Before the herbs, I felt tired, and I would always get irritated and my mood changes and I become “snappy.”
  12. I am back to preparing my teas myself without help.
  13. The headache is gone as well as the sore throat and body aches. Yes, I believe it was a healing crisis. It started suddenly, got worse and then disappeared.
  14. I still have some phlegm but, it is clear in color.   It started during the healing crisis, it was milky in colour.
  15. I was able to take a bath without getting fatigued.  I typically spend an hour in the bathroom because of the colostomy. The colostomy is not regulated so, feces  come through it at anytime. Because of the difference in water temperature and body temperature, it stimulates the colon however lightly when water touches it. As I wash, it may come just when I finished washing and before I notice it it’s on my skin, I have to wash again. I could easily take a quick shower to prevent this but, if I go at a normal pace, I would start breathing hard.
  16. I don’t urinate as often as I used to! Previously, I used to urinate about every two hours or four times during the night. Now, maximum is once a night. Lately I don’t urinate throughout the night.
  17. Now, I sleep through the night without the need for urinating. Before the herbs it was difficult getting some sleep. Even if all the lights were off, I still couldn’t sleep till the early hours of the day.  Following the use of herbs, I sleep earlier, even when I try to stay up, I always become sleepy. But most importantly, even if I get six hours of sleep, I still feel very well rested upon waking up.
  18. Now I wake up and I don’t feel tired, I feel well rested.  Previously, I would wake-up, even after sleeping for nine hours and I would be tired.
  19. For me, if I didn’t have the colostomy or if the fistula was fully closed I wouldn’t remember I am healing cancer.
  20. The drainage from the fistula has reduced greatly and the mucus has also reduced. (I remember you saying that one day after the herbs the stools came out a lot into the bag, as never before?) I kept going to the bathroom and frequently too; the stool kept coming and coming like something was pushing them out. But it wasn’t diarrhea, it was soft, very frequent and in copious amount. The second night, the bag would have burst if I didn’t notice it on-time, it was that full.
  21. My nails look better!!! I was looking at them yesterday and I was admiring them because they look pretty, previously they looked terrible. They would bend and contour in odd ways.
  22. I just started sweating and felt the prickly sensation as I was typing this. It happens several times a day, even at night when I am sleeping.

How are you doing over there? What about the fistula wound? Is it closing and improving? Then the heaty feeling inside? Does the C-tea help?

1 April 2012

Hi Dr. Chris,
I am doing great! I cooked dinner today.  Turned out great! The only thing was, I had to keep my sweat from getting inside the pot.

The fistula is closing, the mucus barely comes out anymore and the exudate has reduced greatly. With the C-tea, I think it transfers the heat from inside the body to outside. I don’t feel the inside heat surge as much as I used to, but the sweating is a lot which is not bad. This is because,  sometimes I don’t feel the heat inside it’s only when I start sweating that I realize my body was hot. I don’t know if what I am saying makes sense? Now I look at the sweating in a positive way. I just tell myself my body is trying to get rid of all the chemo and radiation I bombarded it with. How is Auntie Im? My greetings to her.

Thanks for your email. I am glad that you are living a happier life now —are you going to reconnect the colon? I thought you have done that already since I did not hear from you for a while.

Okay — you have been on the herbs for more than two months now, going to be three? While on the herbs, did you also take any of the doctor’s medication?

Compare your life now – after taking the herbs versus those days when you did not take the herbs. A lot of improvements? How do you describe your situation now? Taking the herbs indeed helped you?  Take care, Chris

Hi Dr. Chris.

I am doing really, really well. I still expelled the dark stuff from my rectum this morning but the horrid smell is reduced.   I am not reconnecting the colon at this time. I prefer not to rush and wait a while for the rectum to heal fully. I may give it another year before deciding.

I am planning to come to Penang soon. But, I will be coming alone.  I will like to have enough money before coming so I can leave with enough herbs.

I have not taken any doctor’s medication since December last year. Now I feel strong /energetic, like I can do anything now. Well, except for my wrist. First it was the left wrist that was hurting. After a while it stopped. Now the right wrist hurts.

The herbs really, really helped the fibroids too! There is no more pressure on my bladder. I gained more weight too. People keep asking me if I am the caregiver to the patient and where the patient is. Of course I say with a huge smile I am the patient.

I thank God for His many mercies. Health is Wealth.

One last question …

You said you felt well after taking the herbs. What if people put it to you that it is not true and that the “feel good” stuff who wrote about is just your imagination to justify what you are doing for yourself? It is not true!

Fortunately, some of the people who have cancer don’t have pain. However, for those who have pain it can leave you begging for death; even I found myself weighing the benefits of dying rather than continue to suffer the pain. If anyone has been in this kind of extreme pain, I don’t think there is anything in the world that can lead you to imagine “feeling good” when you don’t (well, maybe hypnosis, but I wasn’t hypnotized).

It’s like someone being burned alive, you know your body is healing when the pain reduces even if the scars are yet to fully heal.

When you start losing the muscles in your butt from inactivity, and then you start being active later own, your commonsense should tell you that both experiences are absolute opposites hence they are different and not imagination.

When people around you and even doctors get excited about the changes in you without telling them what you are using, then this is the most definite part proving it’s not being imagined. People are not in my head and they can see me becoming different.

When people can look at you and ask you where the patient is, and even argue with you that you are not the patient; I don’t need anyone to tell me otherwise.

When I can walk for an hour without pain when I could not walk five minutes previously, commonsense tells me things are very different and getting better.

When the pain stopped acting as my alarm clock and I was actually sleeping and waking up on my own terms…oh I knew, I knew without a doubt things were changing for the better.

I could go on, but I’ll hope you get the gist by now. With Stage 4 cancer pain, there is no imagination that can block the pain you are used to experiencing for two years. Unless maybe you are a monk or something (I apologize if that statement is rude).

I can only say this. This young lady has a lot of common sense. She is not rushing to get herself “cured.” Let the fistula “really” heals first before doing the surgery to reconnect the colon. It is our pleasure to be able to help such an exceptional lady. I am glad that I did recognize my mistake for trying to ignore here request for help. But all the same, this story has a happy ending. May God guide us as we go forward!

Ben Died, My First Lesson from Heaven – Death is not a failure!

The first patient who took our herbs was Ben. He had colon cancer that had spread extensively to his liver. This happened way back in July 1995. Ben wrote, “There would be no medicine for me. I was advised to prepare my will as soon as possible. I was stunned for a moment. My wife, Cindy and I broke down. I thought I am going to die.“

Ben underwent palliative chemotherapy and at the same time started to take herbs, starting 20 July 1995.  His health turned for the better.  Ben and Cindy came to our house every week to help take care of other cancer patients, as more and more patients came to seek our help.  For Ben to be able to live a quality life was an inspiration for us. At that time, we knew “nothing” about cancer. So through Ben we started to learn many things about cancer.

In the early morning of 29 October 1996, Ben passed away, rather unexpectedly.  According to Cindy, Ben asked for an extra pillow. As she went to take it from the cupboard, Ben put his hands together and went home peacefully. According to the doctors, most parts of his liver had stopped functioning months before.  It was a great wonder that he could still continue to live for more than a year. According to Cindy, one of the doctors commented that, Someone Above was helping him along!

I was at Ben’s grave site, a broken person.  When they buried Ben, I felt as if half of me also followed Ben into the grave.  It was a sad day indeed.  My heart mourned and cried out “I want to give up Cancer Care.  There is no point for me to carry on … Ben had lost his battle against cancer … I have failed!  What is the point of going on? Indeed this failure was a big blow to my ego! I was naive then. But, later I learnt that I was not the only healer who feels this way. These  two famous doctors also felt likewise.

However, in this time of grief, it dawned upon me that I have erred terribly … Chris Teo,  are you playing God?  No one lives forever.  No mortal on earth can decide who lives or who dies or for how long.  Life is God’s prerogative.  He gives and He takes away.  I soon realized that instead of abandoning what we had built, we should instead build upon it.  We should take note of how Ben had benefited from the herbs and count those blessings.

Death comes sooner or later to everyone, to the healthy as well as the sick.  Death is never the issue. Life is. To live is a challenge. It needs determination, courage and wisdom.  Someday, when you are tired, sore or bored with life, death becomes a healing.

As we begin to take account of the blessings in Ben’s case, we realize again that there is no reason for grief.  The doctors gave Ben two months to live but Ben lived one year, three months and eighteen days.  However, it is not the length of time that mattered.  What is more important is the quality of life Ben had.  Ben lived a full happy life.  He did not take life for granted.  He anticipated and made preparations for his departure.  He enjoyed whatever time he had with Cindy, having daily picnics and enjoying Penang’s natural spots under those shady trees.  Ben even designed his own grave!  He taught Cindy how to manage the chores of daily life without him like paying utility bills, taking care of the car, etc.  When he departed, it was neither a sudden good-bye nor a slow painful death. Perhaps on this point alone, we take consolation that many people who were on the herbs died without much pain and their death came easily and peacefully.

From our experience with Ben, we realize that having only herb capsules A and B is not adequate to help the cancer patients.  We need to do more research and find herbs that can alleviate pain, coughs, and a host of other problems that often afflict cancer patients.  On this point, as I was writing this passage, the phone rang.  It was from a lady who had come to see me the previous week.  Her father had a severe stabbing pain in the back. The doctor prescribed pain killers but they were not effective. He took the Pain Tea only twice and the pain disappeared.  There was no need for any pain killer drug!  She called to relay her father’s thank you.

Unfortunately, Ben did not live long enough to benefit from this discovery.  Many after him benefited.  But we all owe it to Ben, our experiences with him widened our vision and understanding of the needs of cancer patients. One fact that amazed Cindy very much was that Ben never before believed in taking herbs! He was so particular that he would not even touch any medicine unless it was prescribed by his doctor.  And then we had this same Ben taking herbs given by a complete stranger. When a friend from his church suggested our herbs he immediately agreed to take them without any hesitation.  In retrospect, we always believe the Almighty God works in ways we cannot understand or foresee. When Ben completed his mission, he left us for Eternal Rest, his ultimate healing.

We now realize that we are not alone if we feel miserable or like a failure.  Such feelings are normal but we must not allow these “failures” to affect us because there are actually not failures!  Dr. Barbara Joseph said this:
